hey guys well i installed an apexi safc II the other day and now i am about to put in a gm mas and maft. i have stock injectors and stock fuel pump.
the safc is just there so when i upgrade injectors later on and the maft so i can vent the bov.
now my question is since i have a safc, i dont have to connect the rpm wire of the maft to the cas right?
and the maft all dials are set to zero. but im confused about the mode setting. 1 off 2 off 3 off 4 off. or should be 3 on?
thanks in advance. i did do a search but couldn't address my question thoroughly

this is what i found

Also on a 1g DSM:
Base=2 with Aux=0 will set up for 450cc injectors. For WOT and MID its set at 0 for stock injectors. You will aready be running richer with just the maft installed so you should be good there. DO NOT MAKE ADJUSTMENTS WITHOUT DOING PROPER LOGS BEFOREHAND! This is how i spun my rod bearing and boiled my oil!
As for your switches you should be 1=off 2=off 3=on 4=off. Its basic circuit communication using 1's and 0's to yield a certain output. This configuration means 3"maf, startup enrichment on, read from maf.

i know to install it is pretty much plug and play. but the 90 cas only has 4 wires black red white and yellow which is mounted on the firewall. the white wire from the maft has to connect to the rpm signal on the cas, i have read the quick and easy maft installation on the tech forum, it shows you the black wire from 3rd from the right to connect the white wire from the maft.
anyone has any info on where i can plug the rpm singal for a 1990. (on a side note i have a safc II) i read somewhere i don't have to plug the rpm wire from the maft to the cas. can anyone verify that one for me.

yes i know i can run that to the ecu, but as i stated i already tapped that the rpm for the safc II.

Wiring the AFC into the 24 pin connector
1) RPM Wire: Connect the Green wire of the AFC harness to the Black wire corresponding to the connector hole as shown above (bottom row, 4th from left).

i dont think its safe to tap it there again.

Sorry lack of sleep here LOL. I dont think it would hurt tapping it there also either way the signal is there and still goes where it needs to

indeed MAFT is plug and play (no play fun)

thanks for the help jugs, ive been reading up on ## thread about the maft aswell. what did you set your dials in and the mode setting.

there's one that tells me 1 off 2 off 3 off 4 off all dials zeroed for stock
i have one telling me 1 off 2 off 3 on 4 off base 2 the rest is 0
i have one telling me aux to 4 and base 0

do i still need to tap the white wire from the maft to the cas and since i have a 90' theres no black wire.
i already tapped the ecu pin for my safc
im about to go nuts here.

all i really want to do for now is just run my car. i just bought a wideband from a member, it should be coming wednesday or thursday.

Well I havent installed mine yet. But I have base set to 2 and everything zeroed out. I have a 3.5 GM maf so my switches are not set yet I do have it set as 1=on 2=off 3=off 4=off(it came that way)

anyone have any input on where i can tap the rpm signal on the maft on a 90 cas? do i even have to tap that if im running a safc II?
i just bought a wideband it should be in by wednesday.

so long as neither device added draws much current off of the line, you should be fine. I have no idea how much current either device uses, but I would presume not much as it should be just using it as a signal input to drive signals coming off of a different power source... (confirmation needed)

if you have a newer MAF-T, you can use that to tune, so you might want to just use that instead of the MAF-T and S-AFC II if you're worried about it...

5. Use the supplied TAP and SPADE connectors to connect the white Translator wire to an RPM signal.
The CAS (Crank/cam Angle Sensor), pin 2 (black wire), is a good place. Alternatively the TACH
signal from the Power Transistor module can be used (white wire, pin 4). The signal needs to be a
clean, logic level signal, no coil terminals.

okay i have literary gone through almost all post regarding maft 1g setup, 90 cas rpm signal.
and it has come to a tie between the yellow wire or the black wire. im pretty sure someone here is running a Maft on a 90 cas.

please close. it has been resolved.
