What's up dsm family!
Just wanted to make a post to start meeting people here and to get known around the website.
My name is Kyle I'm in the tri-state area, close to Philly tho. I've been into cars my whole life, if it isn't cars it's fast women I have been a true V Dubber for years now and ###### always will be, but there is a time and place for them. I bought my dsm 2 years ago off my best friend, I'm the 3rd owner and my friend took just as good care as i do now. My baby is a 99 GST I love her.
When my friend bought the car it was lightly modded and had a touch of rice on it. It had a 16g, lowering springs, stock head, stock bottom end, and lots of neons . He swapped out the turbo to the pte60 trim, added comp cam 272s, springs and retailners, Wally 255, 950s and Dsmlink.
When I bought the car I added the snow performance stage 3 meth kit, and bumped boost and got her retuned. At the end of last summer I noticed a little bit of white smoke coming from the tailpipe so I parked her in the garage and me and my buddy started ripping her apart. We found that the piston had a decent amount of slap and wore away the cylinder walls enough to seep oil past the rings. So i figured it was time for a rebuild.
I wanted to have a Stroker motor in the worst way, I know having fwd i won't have great traction, but I wanted to over come the traction and have a torquey monster motor. So I went to the guys at MAPerformance and ordered there Stroker kit. I
Tweaked it to my liking tho, I opted for the manley crankshaft cause it was 3 or 4 pounds lighter then the eagle crank. I wanted some beefy rods that could handle anything i could throw at them so I got there ultimate duty rods, and got weisco pistons. This seemed like a great starter. I also added there special L19 headstuds and tossed my old arp's and got arp main studs. Had it bored .20 over, align honed, and decked to use the Mitsubishi MLS headgasket. I was looking to work my head a bit more,!but searched the classifieds and found someone selling a 2g head that was port and polished had 3G lifters, crower springs and retainers, and +1mm os valves. It was too good to pass up!
I also wanted to have my turbo rebuilt just cause I didn't know what could have happened to it form the oil going thru it. I sent it to the guys at G-POP shop and had them rebuild it. They added a 360 degree thrust washer, changed my hotside to a Garrett T3 flange and they bored out the turbo and installed a 67mm wheel. The old 60mm wheel is a baby to the 67mm wheel wow
I wanted a car that was going to be pretty much brand new and would make some serious power! I'll keep you all posted as I'm in the process now of getting all the odds and ends together to complete her, ran outta funds, but she should be done soon.
hope I didn't bore you to death reading this, but Im excited to own her and call her mine
