Alright start with the basics, you have ECMLink (version unknown?) and I assume you have the data link cable as well? Did you get ownership transferred so you can access the ECMLink forum?

When you go WOT closed loop is enabled. If you look at the direct access table it will show a whole grid of AFRs based on load and RPM. Depending on where you are at on the table determines which active cell you will be in. The number is also what the ECU is aiming to achieve for an AFR

Hmm, there should be a data link cable with the chip. The chip is user programmable so I am unsure of what you are talking about.

Pull the ECU out and take a picture of the chip if you don't mind.

I know he replaced the stock one with this chip. To my knowledge he never had a ecmlink hooked up to it. I got some paper work that car with it. But im at work so ill have to read over when I get home.

I think you ment to say when you go WOT open loop is enabled. :thumb:

Sounds like its either a burnt chip from Jeff or it is DSMlink. Like said before a picture of the actual chip will help with determining what you have.

Ill try to get a picture tomorrow. I would say its probably a burnt chip. But anyways back to my question....does 10.5:1open loop mean its still 14.7 when cruising around and switches to 10.5 at WOT?

yes that would be my guess. A 10.5:1 ratio at cruise would cause horrible emissions and cause your cat to glow orange. Also you would probably notice carbon build up around your bumper by the exhaust. 10.5:1 is a little to rich for me. You are prob losing a little power you could have by going to 11:1 or so, but this might be best if you dont have a logger, wideband, tuning capabilities, etc. Just my 2 cents though

I was wondering if 10.5:1 would be to much since my car is pretty much stock. I dont want it to hurt cylinder walls by getting to much fuel. I plan on getting a dsmlink soon, that's if I can figure out why im pushing coolant out first.

You should never change the AFR without logging to know what's going on internally. The only time you would hurt anything by being too rich is when you are trying to seat new rings as too much fuel will wash the walls down.

The stock map is richer than 10.5 BTW.

Is there oil in the coolant or any coolant in the oil? Bubbles forming in coolant at idle and what color is the coolant?

2 most common reasons for pushing coolant= radiator cap not holding pressure or head gasket leaking under WOT/boost.

Yes, 10.5 is leaned out a bit from the stock map. It seems a lot of people will shoot from 10.8 - 11.5 for a tuned AFR.

Here is the stock max octane fuel map for a 2g taken from ECMLink v3

9.5 and 9.6 would be where your actual WOT pull would lead you to.

Here is the stock min octane fuel map for the 2g. This table is generally ignored

for most boosted cars i have tuned 3 a wrx and 2 dsms i usually shoot for 11.1 at WOT with it tapering a bit richer to 10.8 or so when it gets close to redline
