so i cant keep traction in 1st and 2nd gear and i have a 98 gst fwd do any of you guys with fwd have problems with traction too? 1st and 2nd gears are pointless hahahah (not really but you know what i mean)

If you mean on the street - SLOW DOWN.
If you mean on the track - Learn to drive better and get better tires.

I should clarify, are you talking spin or hop?

Second gear I never really have any problems. First gear takes a little bit of finesse with a fwd, you can't just mash the pedal to the floor and expect to get a ton of traction.

well considering you have a fwd and light weight fly wheel thats not helping much. id invest in some better tires and a lsd.

Ease up off the pedal. JB Weld big lead weights to the front of your car.

wth are you talking about WTF why would you do that???...your jz goingk to add more weight to an already heavy car....

1st thru 2nd gear i have no traction.....
my fix wider and better tires, lower wheel psi, poly bushings for engine mounts and make sure you heat up your tires good..(quick burnout)

should grab a bit better....jz my 0.2 cents

The light flywheel isn't the sole problem to his traction issues. A lighter flywheel frees up more engine power to go to the wheels; more power to the wheels = more traction issues in a FWD car. You might as well say every minor bolt on modification is the cause of traction loss. The benefits of a light flywheel outweigh the minor loss of traction it causes in first and second gear.

I do agree with your final advice though, tires and an LSD are going to make all the difference.

Looking at your profile I'd say let up on the gas a little. It's obvious your not drag racing this thing at the track or I'd say get some slicks, so I guess the next best thing to do is to get some better street tires and/or ease up of the loud pedal. If you're breaking them loose with a stock t-25 turbo (I'm assuming by your profile) then your tires must be shot.:toobad:

I have this same problem with my 1st and 2nd gear in my AWD.. I dont know whats wrong with it.

it could have alot to do with the cold weather too and the tires not hooking good but like i said im not too worried about it right now it was just a question to see what other people have and its not like im racing all over town all the time or anything and i just got the car in sept. and it was completly stock and i do plan on hitting the drag strip this year

I mean, I'm launching on 23psi, but i have 225,55r16z's, Nixon tires. For some reason I just cant catch traction in 1st and half way through 2nd. Can somebody help me?

The cold weather will definitely make them spin easier.

Well good, I'm glad to hear you're not racing around.:thumb: Get it to the track and you'll be surprised how much more traction is availiable. Then you'll be able to see what the car can do.:)

:hmm: Maybe it's time to weld the center diff and/or add slicks.

Its your tires bro...i had sum Nixon street tires before, they don't grab for crap...even the directional tires. I think your traction prob is your tires....you shouldnt have any or hardly traction problems/issues with an awd.

I've had Falken, Bridgestone, Goodyear and none of these grip like my Nixon's. and yes, I do have problems with traction, Getting a weldded center is kinda scetch because its my DD and I live in Denver CO, tooo many tight turns. I'm scared I'll shatter my rear diff like some of my welded center friends do.

as stated above, the track has a ton more grip. Also, fwd guys have the option of a bigger turbo with more lag, to help get off the line a little better...!
