how do i know if my crank is walking beside grabbing it and shoving to see if there is play ..... and pre-walking symptoms if any cause i thought my harmonic balancer was bad but now looking at my balancer sticking out about an inch i am wondering if it is walking

google it you will get you awnser. theres several things it can make your car do but it depends on how bad it walks

you can use gages to check the clearance in the thrust bearing but as long as it runs mine as well run it

The symptoms I seen were:

1. Pushing the clutch in and the RPMs dropping 250-300 rpms at idle and then causing the car to die while shifting gears.
2. Varying clutch engagement

First your rpms will start dropping. Next your car will start dieing when pushing in the clutch. Then the varying clutch engagement will start when it gets worse. Eventually it will eat into the block and that's when you will hear it. If it's bad enough you should be able to push the crank towards the transmission then pry it away from the trans and you will hear it hit the block.

Only real way to find out if it's starting to walk is to measure your endplay.

finally the problem was found crank is fine the crank sprocket was backing off the crank about 1/4 inch so now just gotta replace it as needed not to bad i was pretty worried

See why everyone who knows anything about these cars says crankwalk is blown totally out of perportion. If people's brakes start squealing they automatically yell crankwalk.

Clicking sounds from engine. Also I believe that the clutch pedal begins to get stuck. Especially when making left turns? Something like that. Doesn't sound like a good thing to go through though.
