haha yea i want someone to walk up to my car and think "ok he has an exhaust and a front mount" but be able to line up next to him and run a 11.2 or less

I'm sure it can be done......paint your I/C matte black like me and then you only have the exhaust being obvious.......

Ran a 11.95 @ 115.86mph on snow tires with no track prep this weekend. It was a scary ride but I was pumped!

Mod list:

Punishment FMIC
3" exhaust, stock o2 housing
2g exhaust mani with ported step
ported step 6CM turbine housing on the Big 16g
FIC BlueMax 1250s
JayRacing 341 fuel pump (270lph at 70psi)
Fuel Lab regulator and feed upgrade with -6AN
E85 on around 25psi of boost, sometimes 27 if the MBC wants to.
Clutchmaster FX400 clutch
Fidanza Flywheel
BSEK

On 205/55/16 Bridgestone Blizzaks. 1.800 60'

Time to build a 6 bolt for the HX35 and try to dip in the 10's on the 16g before I go to the Holset.

Nice time! Getting into the 11's on a 16G is not easy. You have a good running car right there.

Thanks! I'm looking to use a set of Delta 274 regrinds and 10:1 compression on the build, as well as a JMFab intake manifold and a custom built T3 exhaust mani for the holset.

But I want 10's out of this 16g bad. Need to find more weight to remove.

Oooh and the car is tuned on Jackal Speed Density by me. Stock timing map, AFR's around 12.0 at WOT.

Need it on the dyno so I can tune for MBT on the new motor. Current motor pushed coolant even with ARP studs. :)

Great work! Very nice time!

You can get rid of about 3-4lbs off your front end by swapping the 6cm housing out for a Evo3 16g turbine housing. I am also willing to bet that you will gain a good amount of power by swapping out the turbine housing as well.

Good luck!

whoa! yeah, I'd say you're a little past MBT. If you're going out to the track soon I'd try pulling out 3 degrees at WOT and see how your trap speed changes.

Those 2 posts were actually me. My buddy's account auto logged in...

I'm on stock timing with 12.0 AFR's. 17 degrees advance peak...

And yeah, I'm looking for a used ported 7cm housing.

Finally made it to the local 1/8 mile track and managed to not do too bad.
22psi creeping to 25psi
Evo 8 ecu not really tuned as yet (virtual dyno says around 300whp and 250wtq)
FIC750cc injectors
Walbro 255hp
Custom 3" intake with a small Blitz SUS filter
Ebay intercooler and hard piping kit
Megan O2 housing and down pipe
3" Kakimoto exhaust
Suspension wise all of my bushings are polyurethane and i had the cusco's set to 2 (second softest) all around.
35-40psi tire pressure all around
I got absolutely NO wheel hop, the 2 step at 6k rpm got me 10psi off the line.

I had some 50lbs worth of crap in the car at the time as well. Some more tuning and seat time and i will be able to beat the local evo 3 with a stock turbo record of 7.749.

Oh OK, that sounds better. 17 degrees is safe, and it should be very cose to optimum. I'm running a 16G with E85 right now at max boost and it's also tapering down to 24psi by redline and I'm getting 16* peak timing. I thought you were on the stock timing map which gives you 24 degrees peak timing, so disregard my last bit of advice. :coy:

On 205/55/16 Bridgestone Blizzaks. 1.800 60'

Nice times! I've been racing on snow tires for a long time, they actually work surprisingly well, but it still makes me laugh. 1.80 is decent but you can get it down with practice. After a few passes in my GF's 2g this past fall I was in the high 1.6s on Blizzaks. I'm a little rusty with that third pedal these days... My EVO8 on Dunlop Graspic snow tires went as low as 1.59 (stock turbo). My best in the old 2g was a 1.55 on all seasons for comparison. None of these cars went terribly fast, but I'm decent on the launch at least. :D

I just read the whole thread, it all reminds me of the good old days. I picked up some parts a couple months back to put a small turbo on the Talon just for fun. I have a 14b, a big 16g, and the 50 trim from the compound setup that I'd like to run and see what each one does. I also have some cool ideas to test out for maxing out the little turbos. Testing new ideas is the only reason I still bother with these shitboxes, I still enjoy the challenge. Running a small turbo definitely makes you think a little harder.

I figured I'd update this thread with this tidbit of info since we had a little record discussion in the 14b thread pertaining to the "BIG" turbo.

14b record: Joe Bucci - 1G FWD
10.841 @ 126.63 -
- 1.6 unknown 1/8 stats

14b w/N20 record: Joe Bucci - 1G FWD
10.610 @ 131.79
- 1.627 60' 6.897 @ 105.01mph

16g record: Pat Donaldson - 1G AWD Evo3 16g
10.332 @ 131.08
- 1.451 60' 6.594 @ 102.57mph

16g w/N2O record: Joe Bucci - 1G FWD Evo3 16g
9.975 @ 141.35
- 1.569 60' 6.501 @ 108.65mph

I was just thinking the same thing, we were going off topic in the 14b thread. It raised a few points about the top 16g times that I hadn't considered before.

Here's the top 6 from the DSMTimes 16G page
here DSMTimes.org - Home

#1 Joseph Bucci 9.975 141.35 6.501 108.65 1.569 EVO16g Yes

#2 Chris Ferruchie 10.262 124.79 6.793 100.37 1.434 EvoIII 16g No

#3 Pat Donaldson 10.332 131.08 6.594 102.57 1.451 FP E3 16g NO

#4 Adam McDougal 10.573 135.01 6.903 105.96 1.651 Twin EVOIII 16G No

#5 Curt Brown 10.597 127.47 6.783 99.22 1.443 Big 16g No

#6 Nathan Crisman 10.800 129.84 6.985 100.43 1.594 EVO3 16G YES

That list needs a few adjustments.
#2 Chris Ferrucchie is a typo, it should read 10.62, not 10.26, so that bumps him out of the #2 spot.
#4 Adam McDougal is running twin 16G on a 3000GT VR-4 which is amazing but it's not a DSM.
That bumps Nathan Chrisman up to the #4 spot. I haven't submitted my latest time yet because I'm not done. I plan to make some changes and go to the track a few more times and see if I can get a better time. For now my best 16G time is 10.57, which puts me at #3. This is encouraging! I think I'll get off the couch and work on my car today. :)

I'm going to see if I can find winemaker of script or format to keep track of the 16g list within this thread for record keeping. That way we can weed out the 3kgt and twinturbo stuff.

And I wouldn't hold your breath for a typo correction or update to dsmtimes.org, as the last time it took over a year for an update. I had 4 or 5 submissions at the time of the update. It just better if we keep our own list.

Why do all you guys run rotas and 2g wheels? Seems like weld draglites or similar woudl be a better alternative? They can be picked up very cheap on the mustang/camaro forums and are 10-11lbs for a 15X8. I don't see why we couldn't run a 15x7 or even a 15x6 and shave off a couple extra lbs.

Just a thought for all you guys looking to knock a tenth off your times with maxed out setups!

I don't think they would look to bad. Here a a couple photoshop'd images I did up for my car.

Here's a couple pics of them installed on a FWD with skinnies on the rear. They do look good and are light. I think most people don't run them because they're expensive new compared to a set of Rotas or Drags, and the offset makes them stick out more than other wheels. I tried to find a pair for my slicks and couldn't locate anything reasonably priced in the area used so I got the Drags.

Those do stick out oddly. Do you know the back spacing/width on the rims you have installed? Weld has a few different back spacing's to choose from. I'll have to research to see if any will fit nicely. I picked up my aluma stars used for $250 shipped with some dirt track wrinkle walls. They worked well at the drag strip too!

I'm running the Drag DR-17s in 15 x 7" with a 40mm offset on my car. If you're asking about the car in the pics above, it's not mine, no clue what the width or backspace is, though if I had to guess I'd say they're 15 x 8s by looking at how even the sidewalls are.

I run rota's simply because I love how they look. 31lbs for rims and tires, their a pretty damn light setup for how little I payed for it all.

I'm Chris Ferruchie and yes it was a typo. I got the email that I was added and was like WTF?! I sent them an email saying it needed changed to a 10.62 so we'll see if they change the damn thing. Hopefully that 10.26 will be legit after this yeah haha.

Thanks for chiming in, Chris, that's cool. :thumb:
Do you have any plans to push the 16G faster this season?

That is pretty light........The last set of 15" Volk TE 37's with M & H 24.5 slicks I weighed came in at 24.8 per corner. So, under 100 lbs. total......that should be the target for those looking to be super light in that dept. However, I would imagine the FWD guys can come in several pounds lighter running those skinnies in back and keeping a 7" width up front.....

The rims im using are 15' XXR 002 rims by Primax. They were cheaper than the rota's but were a pound or 2 heavier. On my bathroom scale they came in at 12lbs a rim.
Im not sure if they are still available tho.

Like I said, my preference in look, and they were cheap, and still a larger tire. I'm not baller enough for a set of volks:cool:

The car loses 56 pounds going from the Evo8 street rubber to the slipstreams.

I am that much of a ricer though that I care about looks LOL

I'm totally with you brother as I've always wanted my car to look bad ass during this whole run I'm on. The next time I come out, you'll see I've tossed all that in the garbage......ET is all I care about at all anymore. It's not like DSPORT is knocking on my door(although that would be cool)to do a story on my car so.....:D

damn ricers....
