I'm in the process of replacing my timing belt, waterpump, ect. While I was trying to remove a bolt off of the crank pulley, it spun counterclockwise. I can't really tell how much I spun it, but I've read this could be a huge problem, and also that it could be no problem at all. Is there a way to fix this while I have everything taken apart?

Yeah, that was kind of the stuff that I was reading, but I wanted to try to confirm it before moving any furthur.

Don't worry. When you replace the belt you are going to reset the timing belt anyway. The problem is when you go backward the belt can sometimes skip a tooth or two. Since you are taking off the belt anyway then, it doesn't matter. What you DON'T want to do is turn it backwards when you have no intention of replacing or resetting the belt.

If that were the case, then I would recommend that you align the timing belt and then spin the belt 6 full resolutions to ensure that you did not affect your timing.
