Watched the video, the cop was cool to you based on the little I heard. Also be aware that in some situations and places recording the police is completely illegal. I think this could have gone better for you if you didn't answer with "exactly what you saw me doing", and reckless driving is a serious charge, one that won't make it through court if you fight it.

That being said, my opinions of you and your friend are extremely low, not only for trespassing and driving like idiots on private property, but for the ridiculous epithets expressed, and the fact that you KNEW you were doing something wrong as evident by panicking when the police showed up.

Sucks you may lose your license, but you earned every bit of it bud.

Your a complete fahg

Fight it, you were in a parking lot geeze, what are they gunna do give you a ticket? haha

nice drifts. sucks u got caught. +1 on NO HEADLIGHTS next time. u didn't hurt ANYTHING. so no foul.

I'm not one to judge. i do stupid shit all the time in my cars. so does a LOT of people on here. '

shit, i have a Video clip of my dad doing donuts in his AWD volvo WAGON last year at the food store lot when it was iced over. LOL. good times.

I've never drive my car in the snow. :( Maybe next winter I will tear up. The cars under construction now. :)

I think every kid should be forced to do this actually. Should have told him his states drivers exam is useless so you had to teach yourself. In Finland you basically have to know how to rally before you get your license.

+ a billion

I completely agree. If more people knew how to handle a car skidding, etc. there probably wouldn't be as many accidents.

btw I know I've been guilty of snow drifting :p. I live on a farm so I have a lot of space for this. Last year, took my old '79 LeMans out the field. going sideways at 100km/h is a lot of fun LOL

I really doubt that, but that's just me. Just about everyone I know has spun their tires, pulled out quckly, done donuts, and a few other things. Maybe you just don't have enough POWA!! LOL

Having POWA or No POWA isn't the case, Bubba. If you pay child Support you'd whatever you can to keep your license, baby them.

Lofty and for everyone else you can look up your driving record. Go to your State's Bmv website.

It'll look something this. :thumb:
https://www.dps.state.oh.us/netsys/netdb/ENGLISH/MMENU.asp

If you're Ohio, this for you

That website is very accurate, reason how I know is because I pay child support.

Its good thing to have, besides checking on your driving record. Your states website will have some type of Employment center that'll help find a job or School.

My stepfather blew knee on a Oil Rig, went workermenscomp. They helped him get his CDL's, and certified as a Diesel Mechanic. He went through same website posted.
^^ This is for those who looking for employment, or going back to school.

The cop was fair, and if fought it could end up worst. because it's illegal to film anyone/including cops without permission.

Was you Tags/Insurance expired or did your parents take them from you after your momma took you over her knee.

"Nobody is old to have whippin' from your mother".

If we had snow everywhere like you fellows do here in Cali, im pretty sure our cops would have towed our cars for wreck less driving. Not to mention the huge fine on top of that; i have yet to be caught doing illegal maneuvers or what not. But have been fine $240 j-walking ticket... FML

Really? :banghead: Based on this post, I have formed an opinion of you and it is quite low. Its a damned shame that I can't express said opinion for fear of being banned. :hmm:

If you're looking into a lawyer, the one I just used to get points reduced on my speeding ticket is super nice. just let me know if you want the number. he only charges like $75 and you only pay if you get a deal, I believe...it was free for me because he knows my mom's boss - but what city was this in?

Actually, they can.

You can be charged with reckless or careless driving if you show a disregard for life or property. Even if that life is your own.

Reckless and careless driving are worded so they can be applied very broadly. Basically, if you drive your car and it loses grip and you don't respond in a manner which restores grip (eg. donuts), you can be charged.

In PA, it carries minimum $200 fine. Careless driving is 3pts. Reckless driving is 4 pts and a 6 month suspension.

When I worked at Wal-Mart there was fender benders all the time. The cops could do nothing because it was on private property.

Why didn't you just park and get out of the car before he flipped his lights. You would have been home free with a tow charge for leaving your car on someone else's property.

Where do you get this idea from? If you break the law you broke the law, period. It doesn't matter if you change a variable in the situation later.

Take it to court and argue that cops can't tell you what to do in a motor vehicle on private property, even if it is not your property, and that the most you should get is something stupid like disorderly conduct.

Like has been mentioned, careless and reckless can be charged. You are right in the fact that speeding, failure to stop, and things of that sort can't be charged though.

I thought that only applied to public property?

Here in NC, basically any place where the public gathers (stores, churches, gas stations, etc.) is enforceable. The law in NC is worded like you are thinking. We, can't enforce driving laws on what most think of as private property (your house). But, all these businesses are private property also, they are just open to the public.

I think it's a good form of practice rather than being in a bad situation on the street and not knowing what to do.

I agree. I am a huge proponent of practicing car control in all different situations actually. But, you can't do this on the property of another. What if your damage their property?

I don't see much wrong with what Lofty was doing, if it was the middle of the day and people were comming out of church n stuff, than it would be wrong, there was no one to hurt other than his friend (who knows what Lofty was doing) and himself.

You can still damage another's property though.

You lost your license on the spot??

I believe he is saying with this he will go over limit for points on his license and that is why he will lose it.

Lofty,

Based off what I know, if I was the officer I would have based my decision solely on how we interacted in that situation. And based off what I heard, you acted like you didn't care. Either way you would have been told to leave and not come back unless it was for official business.

Just pay a lawyer to go to court for you and they will most likely be able to get it down to a non-moving violation so you won't get any points and will be able to keep your license.

LOL that looks like fun. we do the same thing here but on wet pavement after it rains. cops here aint THAT much of complete asses though. the "getting a feel" for your car excuse woulda probably left you with a warning here :sneaky:

My god some people just can't let a thread be fun. Yes he was being wreckless, but like a lot of people said , Everyone has done soemthing in theyre cars they should not have done.

Some are just man enough to admit it!! NO ONE is perfect!! I have a vid on you tube playin in the snow in my 93 gsx:cry: (R.I.P) .

The people that owned the car wash were egging me on for me to do more and they were 100 years old. Get over it folks, he didn't kill no one.

I wasn't fighting on if this was dumb or not, cause it was pretty stupid.
However doing this in a parkinglot is different than endangering more lives than just my own on the street racing or something.

My responses were so "whatever" cause I didn't even know how to get out of that.

Call me an idiot if you'd like, I could care less what a username thinks about me :)

I like to have fun to!! F what people say!!

Go lofty do you!!:thumb:

If you're calling this and street racing the double standard, I think that's a bit of a stretch. When's the last time you've heard of someone being killed or even injured in an empty parking lot at 2am while doing donuts?

I grew up in a small town. I'm so happy I knew all the cops before I was old enough to even drive. It saved me (and my parents) so much grief.

I'm voting this thread most likely to become a shitstorm.

You really should have spent a little time looking for a better place to play Tanner Foust.

If it's in your budget or you know someone you can always lawyer up and squeek by.

You don't live by snow in Nevada. If you had snow you'd understand everyone is tempted by snow drifting and it happens a lot more than you think.

ya that dude was deprived as a child he is just upset that he cant do that. someone should go give him a hug and maybe he will feel better. on a better note i am waiting for the snow here cant wait gonna be making some vids my self as well and post em everywhere just for that guy hahaha and btw lofty awesome response had me dyeing LOL. good vid keep up the fun and good luck with your license.:hellyeah::hellyeah::hellyeah::dsm::talon::laser:

Wow, Lofty. I laughed so much watching that vid when the cop showed up. Is that what you guys call "snow drifting" in Wisconsin? Haha. I have been checking the weather each and every day just waiting for snowfall. For one reason only- Snow Drifting. Or whatever you wanna call it.

I will go about it in a different mannor though. First things first, nowhere near a town. But in my location, that's just about everywhere. Two, I am going to get permission if on Private Property. For example, my old boss wouldn't mind if I did it at his shop. He has a descent size parking lot and a dirt road behind it leading to him cabin. Not to mention my grandparents have 100 acres of farmland. Third, you gotta keep the lights off.

If a cop pulled up behind me while doing that stuff in a Church parking lot, I would of had to have said, "I am praying to the man up stairs that you let me off the hook" or "This is how us DSMers thank god for giving us the capability to create such an amazing machine". Haha.

Keep the vids coming throughout the winter guys!
