*Edit* damn it! you beat me to it!

It could be as simple as the oil filter backed off some. I have a 90 but I had this happen on a dyno. Right at the end of the WOT pull or just after it came off WOT. smoke EVERYWHERE and oil pissing out on the drivers side spraying all over the place (since thats where the filter is). Engine was shut down within seconds of this.

I got lucky it happened in a somewhat controlled environment with multiple people observing, so the engine was shutdown quickly. Still it lost nearly 2 quarts of oil, but has shown no signs that it sustained any serious damage. (thank god).

You on the other hand if the engine continued to run for more than a few moments and depending on how much oil was lost. may be looking at needing new bearings at minimum. No one can tell you what it was from your description or what was damaged. The best thing you can do, is figure out where the oil was coming from, how much oil was still in the engine and why it wont currently start. I would start off by checking the compression, do a leak down test and pull the oil pan and check the bearings. Then go from there.

ok yea i know it wasnt the best idea but i live down in neb. and i was the only car on the road at the time. i mean 130 is pushing it i know i should have just went for a walk. but update we got it ramped up and took a peek at her well there is oil only on the left side it is everywere but on the right nothing. and then we notice my mitsu oil filter was loose like we could turn it by hand. i hand this problem in my 1g laser the oil filter got to much pressure and bam sent oil everywere i mean i wasnt at 130. but we couldnt see and holes yet havent rip the head out. but the spark plugs are dry no oil. but there is oil from my front left rim all the way back. it might have toasted my alternator also it was gooed with oil. god mobi1 full syntheic and only 20 miles on it :ohdamn:. i just dont know why it did it i mean new clutch rebuild motor used but working turbo. my intake pipe was dry no oil or even oil by the turbo it look only on the left side. but what bothers me is that is sounded like the tubro was blown its would try and boost and just sqeek. sort of speak. and for all those who are hateing on me chill out this is the frist time since i have got this car that i went hard. like i said want the smartest but at the time i just didnt. give a f#$%. so just quite busting my balls how you think i feel this was my pride and joy and i had to bust my ass just to pay for her. I bet i aint the frist to have a problem like this damn.

i think people should try and help more than tell him hes a dumbass that doesnt help anything. so what he did 130 on road. thats not what he ask for help on. if he would have said he did it at track would it make ya'll feel better. not like he doesnt have enough problem right now. just my 2 cents.

so no loud bang? just smoke and loss of oil pressure? then engine stalled?

Yes, it would make me feel better if he would have done it at the track and it would have kept him away from being labeled a dumbass. Let me reiterate.

130mph on the street = dumbass
130mph on the track = badass

See the difference:D

oh not saying it was smart. just sayin it doesnt help with is problem. what happens is someone goes to do research on something like this, then they get to this thread and have to read though 20 people calling him a dumbass. instead of trying to help. so in turn they close the thread and dont read, and dont try and help. then they ask same question and everyone gets pissy say research.

im also willing to bet that a few people that said that stuff have gone way to fast on the street. i know i have especially when i was younger.

guess that = me dumbass too:D

This is why I have a new motor oil filter housing backed off and locked up. Now mine has lots of red lock tite LOL

Wow, thinking this is a dangerous place to be as a wife myself. Don't hit the wife, hit a tree, Wife might hit back. :thumb:

So back to the topic, did you see any holes or cracks or new damage while you were looking in the left part of your engine bay where the oil was?

P.S. Y'all know you've done reckless things in your cars too.

^^ 80 is wreckless. i got a 115 is a 60 its all good, just dont do it anymore. its not worth it. i stay 5 mph below now and still enjoy my freedom to drive. If you wife makes you feel this way dont get behind the wheel. If you have to leave her, its not worth your life.

Let me clarify. I was going 80mph on interstate, out of town, where the speed limit is 75mph. So it wasnt really wreckless. ;)

im just thinking if you had cracked your block or put a hole in block or anything like that u would have heard it happen. just losing oil pressure and stalling motor sound like something else. not that it couldnt happen.

yea i think wife hitting back would be least of my worries. youve got to sleep sometime and ive seen women do some mean ass shit. new one guy got caught cheating, wife didnt say a thing. when he when to sleep that nite she super glued his man stuff to his leg. image waking to that.

New insight: clean up all the oil, put the cheapest synthetic oil in and see if you can find the leak. Don't try to start it! 3-4 quarts should be enough where you can look around and see where it's coming from. How's the oil pump? Did it take any damage?

About a month ago this same thing happened to me. I dumped out all 6.5 qts out of my 6 bolt on the side of the hightway. I found that I lost one of the plugs on the oil filter housing, along with my drain tube for the turbo coming undone. Just some stuff for you to check :), hope it helps.

Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? Had something kinda like this happen to me, turned out my gauge sender unit broke off and oil was leaking from the opening. When I first looked at it, everything looked fine as the unit fall on the frame bar and it was dark. Got lucky as hell that the motor didn't lock up on me. I would suggest checking that also.

What's the point of having a fast car if you don't let it loose every now and then?
Granted... Driving like that because your pissed off, not a good idea.
but hell, I used to wind my VW Golf out to about 155 just cruising back roads.

As far as your motor is concerned.... Trying to start it back up with no oil pressure, come on man.
Something obviously went terribly wrong. Cracked head, blown up turbo, hole in the block....
Follow the oil trail!

Take it to a track and let it loose all you want. Not where myself or anyone else could be injured.

Not to be a dick, but I would say have the engine rebuilt if it can be saved, and then take it somewhere and pay someone to do your oil changes.

Next time you lose all your oil pressure, shut it off. Don't continue to beat on it and wonder why it makes a screeching noise when boosting. It's screeching because you are seizing the engine.

Ps. Don't drive when you are mad. We all want you to live; and it wouldn't hurt if you don't take any of us out in the process.

I vote for draining the oil into a clean pan to check for shavings, then pull the pan and check in there for residual shavings.

I destroyed my engine in my old 1G due to the timing belt snapping. I drained the oil and there werent any shavings at all. Dropped the pan, my rod was laying in there in two pieces. Sometimes, there aren't any shavings and in his situation, might as well drop the whole thing. But yes, draining the oil is easy so it would be a smart idea. Practicing that part of the oil change wouldn't hurt him either :p
