Hey guys I have my 2g maf and filter laying around was thinking to put it in my 1g.

Ive read that of course you should have a dsmlink or SAFC.

Also noticed people saying if you use 2g MAF and 550cc injectors at the same time it would compensate for the more airflow of the 2g maf ( ~20% more? )

Was wondering if this is true.

Also have Walbro 255 I can install if need. Maybe just the walbro and stock 450cc would do?

Just wanted input if its safe idea or just wait til i get a SAFC or DSMlink.

Thanks guys

i ran that setup 255 550's and the 2nd gen maf. ran awesome and ripped, it was rich but not to bad, no tune just that. i know i will get harassed for not having a tune but hey i know i wasn't lean LOL so it was cool.

i got a 2g maf on my gvr4 but i have a EPROM chip for it though to compensate.... asfc wouldnt be bad either....

yea link is definitely the way to go.... its everything you will ever need to tune your car haha

I am running a 2g MAF with 550's and a walbro 190 in my 1g with no tune and have great power and 32 mpg freeway. Although as soon as I can I will be getting link. I'm just saying it can be done without a tune...

I bought my shell from someone who did this and after pulling out two melted pistons I now have forged internals.

I am doing the same thing in my 1G.

First, get something to tune the vehicle. The 2G MAF flows 29% more then the 1G's and 550's flow 20% more then 450's. This in turn will cause you to run lean unless you can tune for it.

Ignore all those who say "don't do it". I ran a 2g mas and 550s for a year and a half and the car rocked. It's the best budget supporting mods you can do on a 1g.

I did not see one person telling the OP to not do this mod.Everyone is merely suggesting to wait for a way to tune out the fuel.Every car is different.

quick question about the tsi i have. I purchased it last week, and im a total n00b at them, but not at turbo systems etc.

90 tsi
650cc
2g MAF
Fuel Regulator
A/F gauge

now, there is no tune, nor do i know which fuel pump it has, but the vehicle runs very very rich; it does not move from the "rich" part of the gauge. Is this problem from not having the right fuel pump? or is it all ineed is a safc tune?

thanks

You need something to tune those injectors with (safc, link, jackel, w/e).

But for now you can back the base fuel pressure down a few psi and be able to get it close and in a drivable condition.

I say wait for something to tune it with. You will be telling the ECU to advance timing more since it is thinking there is less airflow. That can be dangerous and the reason why people see more power.

i'll turn down the fuel regulator ans see what happens, hopefully thatll have it in drivable state. SAFC should be here nextweek, so i'll have it tuned then. not in a hurry as exams are taking most of my time, but just wanted to be assured that i can tune the 2g MAF along with the 650cc's in a 1g with a SAFC.

Thanks guys! Appreciate it

i have a 2g mass in a 1g with 550 190 a safc and logger and they do not cancel eachother out at all i had to pull fuel low and add everywhere else at least have a safc and a logger before you do anything when i checked my trims they were 82 118 120, now with couple weeks of good tuning there all at 100 or dam close

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. But I jus picked up another 1g and its a budget quick dd. Came with RC550s and 1g maf, with a blown turbo. I just replaced the turbo. Put in the 2g maf. and got a regulator that needs to be installed. I need a rail end.

Car has a really rough idle, sounds cammed.. Btw has all the egr still in as well. Just ordered the block off. I know I need to blt for sure, as well as check the tps and tb stuff.

Im not looking to put link in this car by no means. How benificial is a safc?

The better question is how was it running 550s in the first place and what did you do to change fueling when you put in a 2g mas? If all you did was swap 1g for 2g mas...well it's no wonder the car runs poorly. Assuming of course it was already tuned in some fashion to run 550s (chip, safc already installed somewhere, etc).

The 2g mas is the "tune" used to compensate for the 550s.

safc's are great for the price if you don't have huge hp goals, but anything 350ish hp + is going to need injectors too big to use with an afc.
