I agree, this show is crap. No humor at all and that was the worst Stig intro ever. It's true the Brits made it what it is today. Nothing like British Humor LOL i think they need to recast soon because these guys are awful. They don't even attempt to be funny. Absolutely terrible

Not trying to get OT but... .I figured at some point some one is gonna be like
What's Top Gear?LOL As sad as it is... might as well save them from the embarrassment. plus it kind of puts it in perspective what they have to live up to an it's a not bad Tv spot...

For those that don't know what the original top gear is... .

Oh, and they get along quite well ... they've been asked.

Fast forward to 3:35...their's a good example of quite the oppositeLOL

You guys cant try and place it in the shoes of the BBC version. It is it's own show. Look at it as a brand new show and stop comparing it to the original. Keep an open mind when you watch it.

I really liked it, sure not as good as the BBC version but it was solid. Seriously, This is a car show... A badass car show at that. We dont get very many TV shows that catered to car enthusiasts. So lets just take it for what it is and enjoy it.

Honestly, I thought it was good. And this is coming from someone who thought, "Oh God, this is going to suck," before I watched it. Give them a few more episodes to form some chemistry and I think we got a winner here.

My thoughts exactly. Tuned to it with a brewski in hand remote in the other and kept an an open mind and walked away thinking I'll watch it again..I liked it.

Why cant America just use the original show and stop trying to copy everyone else. Most of the world manages to watch the British version and not have to make their own,why cant the US. It would even be good for the American viewers to have a little cross cultural tv now and then.

Anyway I will watch the next few episodes but if the original is playing on BBC that I have already seen I would rather watch that. You just cannot make chemistry and what I saw looked like 3 loosers thrown together and told to act a certain way. Even the very first episode of new Top Gear was funny and the chemistry between Richard and Jeremy was there slightly.

I've been watching Top Gear probably longer than most people on here growing up watching the original Top Gear. Back then, Jeremy was the only real funny guy of the group because that's how he is, hes not really acting hes being himself, and has been doing it for a very long time. I feel that the American guys will not have enough time to even show a tiny piece of personality(if they have any) before the show is canceled.

This is merica, it should be bigger, better, faster, ruder, meaner, and funnier, but it's just not. There is no chemistry, like clarkson said you can't make them have chemistry they either do or they don't and American top gear does not.

Well, it appears my brother "TouringStig" is no longer allowed here. Which sort of sucks, since he made the account for the amusement of the Top Gear fans around here. He took being Touring Stig quite seriously, as you may have noticed ... he never actually talked.

Why would they want to re-run the original top gear on history channel? This is about bringing something new to the table, not trying to replace the old one. This show is about cars plain and simple, who cares if the drivers are not as funny as Jeremy Clarkson. When i first started watching Top Gear, it was to see the badass cars doing badass things. Thats exactly what i got, the love for the hosts came after i saw a season or 2. That being said, BBC Top Gear is one of the best shows on tv in my opinion. However, i welcome this new version and i look forward to see some of the cool and funky ways they find to push a car to its limits. :thumb:

No Im saying they should show the BBC Top Gear on a more local channel. And by copying the original like they did they are trying to replace it, instead of going in a little different direction. Its the chemistry that helped Top Gear become what it is, that's why some of the best parts is when using junk cars and not supercars. This is why Fifth Gear never really worked, it never really had good chemistry.

I finally remembered what this episode reminded me of: MotorWeek. Just another boring car show. Sure the cars are cool, but the comments they make kill the moment.

Maybe there's hope. I'm not going to condemn them to a recast just yet, but it does need more work.

More local channel? It's on TV here...right Now...I'm watching it as I type this now...Jermy is driving a 500hp Gt-r

Ya Because the show would be better if they copied motor week right?

Edit: I didn't see the last post before I posted(Since it wasn't their To busy watching TG Lol)...But, there's no way it was like motor week... Maybe the way they Talked but Not the Show... .

Supposedly it gets much better by the 3rd episode.

And those who say the original is best but are watching it on BBCA, that's not the original. Tons of commercials, parts cut out, music changed, etc. DL the original from finalgear.

So True
But,
I have Almost all the episodes and watch all the Episodes long before they come to BBC America:D I just like to watch it anytime it's on it's like putting a Cd player on shuffle you get a random episode

Yeah, I usually download them the day they come out and then happen to watch the reruns months later on BBCA if nothing else is on.

People are just a little harsh. Surely it's not TG UK. I think the production quality of TG USA will hurt it more than the hosts. But it's miles better than any other car program in the US.

Everyone doesnt get BBCAmerica though do they. Copying shows has been done so many times and so many times it fails because it tries to be the same as the original. I feel like they have the same Stig in the same outfit, with a simular track yet more confusing layout with boring corner names. They have got 3 guys that are put there for a simular role as Jez, Rich and James. The same interview setup but changing it to "Big star in small car" just nothing is new. They really needed someone well known as a host because they are all pretty much un-known and theres a reason for that. They needed someone as the foundation for the show, like Clarkson who was well known before the new Top Gear. He/she wouldnt have to be like clarkson but just someone who can bring confidence and excitement to the cast.

But I agree it is the best so far in this country.

What are they suppose to do on a show called Top Gear? Give it a bit of time is all I can say.

Oh an BTW, Leno turned them down I believe... .

Its nice to see it in the USA. It can def use some improvment. I learned more about the helicopter then the srt10. LOL. And the only reason Tanner is on the show is because he has the face of a 14 year old girl and can drive a car sideways! haha. I could see this coming though. The US version of Top Gear is goin to be more media based then the Euro version. Not goin to get the true opinion from a drivers point of view like in the Euro version. The big dollar paying US companies dont want to be bashed on. We are getting the typical bias American opinions. But I can live with it. I will watch it again, but I would like to see something more original outa the cast. It was just a bit mono-tone. Lets just all keep our fingers crossed for some improvments.

Nothing like the original, i call it a failure!

Have you seen the originals?

Watch S1-2......its just as bad.

Even the UK hosts agree itll be just as good as theirs once everyone settles into a groove.

I hope unlike Top Gear UK that Top Gear US shows cars that you, me and the rest of America can actually afford. So sick of seeing all the eurotrash that costs 2x more and never bringing up that fact especially when the domestic cars stomp them, always gotta find something negative to cover the fact you europeans overspend, huh Clarkson......

Right now it sucks because yes, they are copying TGUK but thats only since the current TGUK is the shows main format. Once it evolves itll come into its own.

I cant wait to see challenges that pit the US guys vs the UK guys. Especially when a $$$ limit is involved in vehicle choice.....

Better then Top Gear UK?... Hell no.

Better than Fifth Gear? Hell Yes.

Everyone knows the original top gear will never be replaced, we'll just have to live with it. But at least they got some badass cars :sneaky:

it was OKAY... but it's the first episode, no one knocks it out of the ballpark their first try. It'll never be a direct comparison to the UK version, simply because americans don't possess that sarcastic, care-free, mischievous sense of humor like the brits do... BUT they need to either find some chemistry between the hosts (send them to a bar to get more acquainted or something?!) or replace one of them. Personally, i only know who Tanner is, but he's not the most uhh exciting person in the world... hopefully he'll get more comfortable and act more like he does on his show on SPEED. I'm going to keep watching, hopefully they'll work out the kinks.
