So I'm not new to DSM, but new to the forums. I figured, hell, I read this forum all the time, may as well join in.
I've been toying with Honda for a brief stint after getting rid of my last DSM (91 Talon TSi), and finally got rid of my last Honda, just an EX Coupe I got off a guy who needed a better ride, fixed up (he blew the timing belt off, I picked up the pieces by... Well, replacing the belt. It was luck, nothing bent) and traded to another guy for this 1gb GSX.
It's stock, except for front/rear strutbar and I do believe the wheels are from a 2g Eclipse... Corect me if I'm wrong, but I always thought these were 2g wheels. Something of 143k~ on the drivetrain and body.
It had a blown head gasket. 4G63T isn't the easiest motor to do a head gasket on, but it's my second time doing one (Talon had two chipped valves so I was no stranger to head job) so it was pretty cake. I fire it up, go to cruise down the road, and the thing gets up to speed, shift through some gears, and starts revving a bit (I'm not into it, breaking in the new gasket so I was about quarter throttle).
I turn overdrive off and this never happens again. Overdrive is out -__- Is there any chance it's some sort of electronic piece? I'm new to automatics in DSMs, my Colt's auto is a 3-Speed, non-electronic, so it's not very similar in design, and really the only Mitsu auto I've had, besides my parts car (A late 89 Laser GS N/T with the same tranny as the GSX but FWD) so I'm lost.
Anyone know anything about the way the overdrive electronics work?
Could it be a simple fix or am I looking at a new tranny to regain overdrive?
By the way, lots of nice rides on here. I'd post pics of my old Talon but it's long gone, was the first and only nice DSM I had. I plan to clean up this GSX a bit but this is day 2, so we'll see how it goes.
Thanks in advance for the help. : )
