Right now I have a 2gb bumper on my 98 eclipse, no side skirts. But my problem is that the 2gb bumper is to low and scrapes on every mcdonalds and burger king drive thru. Should I stay with the 2gb bumper and put a lip on it or go 2ga on it ? Anyone know if there is a height difference? And can I get 2ga pix please? Thanks

The 2gb bumper is the best looking in my opinion. Putting a lip on it is definitely not going to help your situation with scraping. I'm not too sure about the clearance difference though between a 2ga and 2gb.

I agree with dosogsx your complaining about scrapping and yet you want to put a lip to make it even lower? Doesn't make sense to me! If you go the 2ga not only will it not look as nice but you will be limiting your airflow to all your coolers etc as the 97-99 revised bumper 2gb let's more air to your intercooler oil cooler and your rad! Now I'm not 100% on this bit but the headlights might have to be changed as the 2ga was shorter then the 2gb lights but don't take that as 100% maybe someone could also chime in on this part! I'm sure I read a post about this a while ago. How low have you dropped your suspension? Wouldn't it be best and cheaper to just raise it that way you pay nothing and save your bumper, that's what I would do it makes more sense to me.

2ga and 2gb bumpers.

There is in fact a difference between the headlights when you go from 2gb to 2ga.

Ahhh my memory served me right then yay!!!!! Just wasn't 100% sure, so that means possibly the fenders and hood needs to be replaced to match the bumper and light! So unless your willing to spend more money getting it all right I would do the FREE option and raise the suspension and learn how to go over bumps and high curbs or quit complaining LOL

The headlights won't prevent a 2ga bumper from fitting on a car that already had a 2gb bumper. The 2gb headlights are a little shorter because they cut down at a sharper angle on the inside. If you switched to a 2ga bumper there will be a small gap at the inside of both headlights, but nothing major.

You do NOT have to change the hood to go from a 2Gb to 2Ga. And the 2Ga bumper is not any higher than the 2Gb bumper. Ant the 2Ga bumper looks like ass IMO. I would recommend you put a coilover setup in your car and raise it a bit if it is too low for you. Then you can keep the good looks of the 2Gb and not scrape it up.

Or is the reason you are scraping BECAUSE you eat at those fast food restaurants??? ROFL

That's why I said possibly as I'm not going give bad info! And I knew someone would correct it anyway I don't understand if he is on stock suspension why its scrapping because I'm in the UK and we have major speed humps and bad roads and tall curbs getting up to the driveway and I have never really bottomed out on anything! Are you sure your bumper isn't falling off or your bracket/bolts haven't come off or loose? The other thing I can think of is your suspension is gone! If its none of them then its just you driving up to them too fast and need to slow down or it will be more then the bumper you will end up replacing LOL

Lmao I live on Staten island, NY the roads out here are horrible. I'm not running stock springs, I have tokico illuminas with 1.5 prokit drop. And now looking at it the 2ga frontend is ugly.. Sticking with the 2gb.

Just wanted to clear that up so somebody doesn't go and replace a hood when they don't need to. :thumb:

I'd say put it back to stock ride height and it probably won't scrape anymore. Pick your poison. Lowered for looks but scrapes, or no scraping and stock ride height.

im 5' 7 270lbs. my bumper never scraped no matter what angle or speed a aprouch a dip or curve. i have gvr4 struts. the only dis advantage is body roll... ughh i get body roll when i change lanes... it sucks..:ohdamn:

I'm 6'3 180lbs hardly the reason I'm scraping NY roads are disgusting.

Thats what they all say. :tease: Just kidding man. :thumb:

But obviously you are either too low for your driving skill, or too low for road conditions. Either way, raise your ride height and that should take care of the problem.

from what im going through right now, i bought an aftermarket front bumper for my 97 gsx, i ran over something and cracked the center, i got from a friend from his 95 tsi hit front bumper, and the headlight setup is different, so now i hav an extra bumper for no reason, but i did check out that yes the stock ones are kinda low, but you just have to do what i did, learn how 2 drive at an angle alot more...i would start in banks
