Hey guys, I'm having trouble thinking of the next mods to buy. The catch with my situation is that I currently have a gst and plan to buy a gsx in a couple of years when I'm done with school. Until then, I'm just trying to buy the parts that I can put on my current gst but be able to transfer over to a gsx, so they must be interchangable (ie no tranny). Anyway, I have posted my mods below. If you can think of anything that would be beneficial, please list it....Anything! An example is the 1g n/t throttle body I have. Someone recently mentioned to me that it will help eliminate boost leaks. It's not really necessary, but helps. (I am not planning on changing out my turbo/manifold setup until after the gsx swap, so please ignore that.) Horsepower goals are around 550-600 whp.

Then don't expect to go anywhere with your current setup. Geez. Was this more of a what can I do next or a show off of a list? Because I'm not impressed.
I'm not really sure what your problem is, but I can assure you that I'm looking for upgrade ideas. Obviously, I've got the obvious stuff, but there's got to be stuff I haven't thought of. Some ideas have already been proposed. I've also been searching the forum today and have seen people swaping to saturn alternators and grounding the engine better to increase consistency in power at high RPMs. It's stuff like this that make the forum helpful and better, not negativity.

I think to answer your vague question you should specify the direction you wish to take the car. The directions I can think of are:
1) Street car with lots of power, "street-able" suspension, brakes "good enough" to get by around town with occasional spirited driving.
2) Street car that wants to be capable of driving on a race track with minimal changes in between (like just brake pads)
3) Full blown drag racing car
4) Full blown track car

Knowing which one will define the rest. Handful of mods I can think of to go in various directions would be:
air oil cooler
dry sump oil system
transmission cooler with oil sprayer
aluminum hubs
big brakes, or perhaps smaller/lighter brakes
suspension
weight reduction (lighter body panels, stripped interior, relocation of parts)
fuel cell with baffling
separate fuel tank for slosh (forget what these are called)
body stiffening (roll cage, front fender stiffening, chassis braces)
racing seats + harnesses
electric power steering
larger (or smaller) wheels/tires with better grip
widebody
aero pieces

meh no more time to brainstorm. There are some ideas for you depending on your ultimate goal.

Brakes sound pretty good. I think that might be a good option for me.

Awesome build man!

I would def. go with bigger front brakes. 2g fwd+awd front brakes are interchangeable. Later 2g awd cars got larger 2piston calipers & slightly larger rotors which most call "2g big brake kit" ive used them on many 1g's nd fwd 2g's.

If I were to upgrade front brakes no doubt would I go with tunersnation.com 3000gt vr4 front big brake kit. Calipers are 4piston, rotors are 2in larger & 1/2in thicker than "2g big brake" rotors. They were designed/sized to stop a much more powerful, heavier 3kgt on the dime. They work especially well on lighter cars such as 1g/2g/gvr4. Requires 17" wheels minimum to allow clearance for huge calipers & rotors.

heres the link...

95-99 2G DSM Eclipse 4 Piston Kit 3000GT VR4 Calipers [TN-DSMBK3] - $822.00 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Good luck with your build!

Thanks a lot for those ideas and thoughts guys. TSIAWD666, I'm trying to build something similar to your second option:

2) Street car that wants to be capable of driving on a race track with minimal changes in between (like just brake pads)

However, I'm not too interested in road racing, although I want the car to handle/stop really well. I am more interested in straight lines. The ultimate goal is to build the ultimate street car (in my eyes). So just about all options are valid for me.

Again, thanks guys!

DEFURY, no, it is not a DD. It was, but I decided to get something else so I could focus on building this without worrying about down time. It will be a DD starting next year for the warm months.

Nick, good to see you are patient....a few posts up above that failed to read your OP. By the way, have you thought about upgrading your turbo yet? ROFL :banghead: Just kidding. Has anyone mentioned your intake manifold yet?

Running 93 now, but built the fuel system specifically for E85. (Good thinking)

Ahhhh. Well, thanks for clearing that up for me. Either way, I'm trying really hard to keep the engine bay looking extremely sleeper-ish. So COP is out. Here's a relatively new pic. (Missing radiator) (I know it's a small pic, but you can't really see any parts unless you're really trying to find them.)

That engine bay looks so clean! If I ever drop even half the money into my engine that you have, I hope it will look that clean. I really love the all black, it definitely gives it more of a sleeper look.

If you have the extra money, have you thought about simply converting your car to AWD?
or is there a specific reason you're wanting another car? It's my understanding all the AWD drive-train bolts straight into a 2g.

According to the mod list, it appears that you know what you're doing, I dont understand why would start a thread asking "what is the next mod I should do?". Its not like you don't already know.

If it were me, and the car was running as it is, I would concentrate on the AWD swap if thats what you really want someday.

It's true that I know the obvious stuff that needs to be done, but I'm hoping to learn about stuff I had no idea about. What sparked this thread was a buddy of mine mentioning the 1g n/t throttle body to me not long ago. I had a boost leak at the t.b. elbow and was going to have a custom one made when he suggested it. It got me thinking about what else I had no idea about. Regarding basic mods that are being suggested, I'm not sure what is interchangable between fwd and awd and I figured some of the members of the forum would know better and have good suggestions. I have gotten exactly what I had hoped for from this thread so far.

I know enough about my car to know it doesn't belong on a drag strip.

FWD, no lsd, no slicks, no suspension = SLOW!

The car was never meant to run the 1/4 mile. It has always been built with the intent of swapping the parts to an AWD.

Are you intending to swap all the stock stuff over to your FWD when you get the AWD????? Or are you going to just dump the FWD car???

I have a FWD also that I am doing a build on as a DD with some fun factor. I too plan on getting an AWD car and building this piss out of it as a streetable car with intent of destroying V8s such as Camaros, Vettes, and the Mustang guys who hate. Even though I also have a Mustang GT that I am building up. I just like the difference in driving feel of a fast Mustang with a N/A motor and a 4cyl turbo with big boost.

How far are you taking the Black theme when you get the AWD? I plan on a deep Black paint, full Black Interior, Black Rims, Black Calipers, Black FMIC, Black Exhaust, Custom Gauges Black with Red Backlight to match Autometer ES Series. I want a 2GB body kit as it is my "Project Batmobile" Keep us updated.
