It must be my luck this f'en month. As I drive home from work I've been blinded by countless idiots with stupid h.i.d.s without proper cut off or annoying colors. I just want to cuss in this thread. The other day I was literally arguing with my buddy about his lights and how they shoot up to the roofs of houses. I told him he needed to get it change cause it really annoys/ blinds other drivers. If he likes it for him to get proper cut off.
Man I just feel like the next idiot I come across I'm going to swerve to him to get some insurance money claiming he blinded me. Fug!
I hope not to run into any of you guys on here. Please get proper cut off, A. S. A. fuggin P.!

My 96 has HID's in it, they were already installed by the PO when I purchased it. I don't have projector housings. However, I have yet to be flashed by anyone, and its really not too glare-y when I step out and take a look head on from different angles. It has a lot to do with the fact that they are adjusted so they are pointing more downward then they came from the factory.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not endorsing putting HID's on non HID capable housings. Its just that if you are able to adjust the headlights properly its not TOO bad (its annoying enough). If my car didn't come with HID's already on it, believe me, I wouldn't have spent the money for them LOL.

I personally hate fan-boys who run HID's just because it looks cool and they can get different colors blah-blah-blah. The light output on reflector housings isn't much better then when you have Halogens in there, it seems that it could be even worse sometimes.

I can't wait until I have enough money saved up to do a proper projector retro-fit.

You know a 35w kit and properly aimed headlights really take care of the problem. The problem is, I run into a lot of "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" ricers, who not only DO NOT aim there lights down, but get 10000k or higher 55w kits.

Proper retrofits are expensive, but really the only way to go. These "kits" that I see for sale all the time are horrible, and the cause of all the grief/backlash. Do it right or don't do it at all. :ohdamn:

I hate HIDs too... but I have them. LOL

When I had my old GTP, the headlights were aimed totally off. Could barely see anything anyways. Then some asshole comes along with his bright blue lights and I might as well close my eyes.

But my new one has HIDs. They're not even that bright. I don't get what the big deal is about them. I told the dealer I bought it from "the first thing I'm gonna do with this is take those ####ing blue headlights out of it" well I lied... first thing I did was buy a new fog light to replace the one that was out, and do a tune up.

I like the way it looks in the day time, the little blue tint in the headlight housing. But if someone complains about them at night then I guess I'll get rid of them.

I don't hate HIDs - I love them, when done properly. My Spyder had a HID retro. I loved the way it looked. I want to do it again, but it's a lot of work. I'd need new headlight housings, new projectors, new ballasts, new bulbs, new bumper, etc.

I just hate the $50 "kits" that are some cheap bulbs stuck in a reflector housing. THAT is crap.

I guess it depends on the kit. The Sharp HID kit for my Civic actually surrounds about 2/3s of the bulb with a metal shield, which is why I think my HID kit for my Civic is not that bright. Better than halogen for sure, but not much glare at all.

vs another kit for the same car like this one: BAD

i have them in my bike, high and lo beam. theyre like 4xxxk so theyre just white, no blue. i usually have the hi beams on to say #### you im here, dont pull out in front of me. i hardly ever ride at night though so theyre not really a problem.

I definitely make exceptions for bikes. We need all the help being visible we can get. :hellyeah:

its fresno man, who cares. heh

everyone cruising on blackstone has these and cops dont care

True! But to me it's f-en annoying. When I see a car with improper cut off. I mean you look at where the light hits and it's every where... not even on the road! And my car is drop so it's extra annoying! Maybe I should carry spark plugs in my car! No one will know who threw it at night!

I bought the kit on ebay for like $50 and put them on my 08 altima coupe and their not even that bright compared to my friend who put them on his se-r. His came out insane compared to mine i have the 6k ones which are just white and barely that much brighter then the stock ones i had but atleast i can see better at night because thats when i drive alot.

4300K is white.
6000K is definitely into blue territory.

I hate them too. They blind me from miles behind. I highbeam a Cobalt with them every day. Get the hint! Do the retrofit or don't even bother. I'm suprised anyone besides ebay actually sells these things to people.

Sometimes I wish I was a cop so I could ticket people for bs like this and not signaling etc, instead of just speeding. Guess they're out to make money, not make the roads safe.

5000 is white. 4300k is the closest cLOLor to the sunlight and it releases the most lumens at the same power level and looks yellow-ish compared to 5000k. 4300k is mostly what manufacturers use. The higher you go the less light it actually makes. So a 16000k kit will make very little (compared to 4300k), deep purple light.

I've had a 6000k kit (low beams), 5000k kit (high beams), 3000k kit (fog lights) for my Sonata and a 8000k kit (hi/lo) in my Civic.

I actaually ended up returning the 5000k kit. So my high beams are halogen and therefore NEVER used.

Here is the Sonata:

+10000 If there's one thing that pisses me off it's people not signaling, it's so easy and yet will save you from the stupidest accidents, I mean, how lazy can you be?!

And yeah ricers with ebay H.I.D.'s should also get busted more often. :notgood:

+1
it's not even that expensive to do a proper retro
If you don't care about having the best beam/sharpest cutoff/bi-xenon (which they have already proven they don't) then you can get a retro for under 100 bucks

Glare shields and all that crap won't make an HID kit preform any better. A Halogen reflector or projector housing was designed for a halogen bulb. An HID bulb works differently.

I love HIDs, either in a proper Retrofit or an OEM.

To the OP, thank you.. Me too I hate all theses tards, that think thay are cool.. First they blind all of us in the road, second their lights DO NOT even perform that well.
There is a reason that on a lot of the newer cars don't even come with HID's. And that includes luxury brands like Lexus/some RX 350/; Benz/GL, E-class, C-class/; GM HundaiKIa, etc..

Only with a nice projector headlights and they work extremely well...

Anyone thought of putting some super bright off road lights to blind these arse holes? Fight fire with fire? Maybe after being blinded a few times they'll get the hint?

I bright everyone with hid's that are way to bright. They are about as cool as one of those big alien looking wings, and stickers. Except they are dangerous to other people.

My friend has a million candle power spotlight that plugs into a cigarette lighter. He has blasted people with bright lights. Personally i think that is going to far.

I definitely turn on my high beams while passing anyone who has annoying glaring HID's. They make me so angry. I got into a big argument with a kid one time because he thought they 'looked cool'
'

I have HIDs on the Mighty Max, though I have them pointed right (5K low beams) and have never been flashed with them (so much better than the stock lights, couldn't see crap with them unless I used the high beams. Didn't matter how much I adjusted the lights). If done right, the after market HIDs are great. Though, I'd have to say quite a few people don't have them right and end up blinding people. Most annoying offenders of HIDS? Lifted trucks, ####ing hate them.

I get hi-beam flashed often in my Denali and Charger though (stock lights, not HIDs), I'll flash them back and usually get the finger LOL.

When I performed my retro the hi beams ended up not being properly aimed anymore (due to the modification for the low beams.)

However they ended up being aimed perfectly for flashing people in their rear view mirrors. I drop back when someone is using non retro'd HIDs in their car and strobe them a few times.

And actually, a good way to fight back would be to install bi-xenon projectors. That way if you wanted to "show" someone how terribly annoying their headlights were you could just give them a taste of pure un-cutoff HID light.
