Take a look behind the plate for cracks on the diaphragm.

Looking at the pressure plate it seems that one side was making good contact and the other side wasn't. When the trans was installed were the pressure plate bolts torqued in the correct sequence with a torque wrench and did you gradually draw the pressure plate to the flywheel while torquing it? When you removed the trans were there any bolts looser then the rest (mainly on the side that has minimal wear)?

Yes I noticed that too.

It's been a while, but I believe so. They were torqued but chances are I did it quickly. Can't remember to be honest.

What's the correct sequence? Do you have a link I can read over?

Possible but hard to say.

Cheers,

Tom

Add my car to this list! Mine doesn't slip in higher gears or RPMs (like my stock clutch did) but I have to rev to 5000 RPMs to make the car move in 1st gear.

Strange part is that the car runs IN first gear with my foot off the clutch pedal when parked, it wants to move forward slowly like an auto trans. :ohdamn:

Ouch Dee.

Did this happen all of a sudden like mine? I felt something give and a snapping noise then it started slipping.

It started a few months after a random pop and then it started slipping. I adjusted the pedal several times with no change and even replaced the master and slave cyl. last week. The slave was shot and leaking but the master was still good (in the classifieds for now).

A day after my post above I had to rev to 6000 RPMs to make the car move and the next day (last night) the clutch died. When I rev now in first gear all I hear are spring and rattling noises. The car is in the shop now and should be done by noon tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow in between my flights and see if/how the ACT clutch disintegrated.

I intended on driving the car until this clutch gave out so I could figure out what was going on with the damn ACT clutches failing. I have a 2100 with their 6 puck sprung hub disc. I went with a Fidanza 2.1, it appears that they changed their disk design to hold the springs better. :thumb:

I do not understand this issue as all the acts i had 5+ years ago never did this. Oh well i hate being right but these clutches are crap now.

It seems like the pressure plates are the weak link. I had 2 die on me within 10k.
