I'm trying to locate a clean ( rust free ) gst spyder to use for an awd spyder project but all the ones I've found are either way overpriced or rusted. I'm seeing a lot of gs spyders for sale for reasonable prices and I think it may be easier to find a clean one of those. If I remember right they use a 4g64 which sits in the same orientation as the turbo motors. Are the motor mounts and trans mounts in the same locations on a n/t spyder as a gst or gsx? If so it looks like I'd be able to just use one of those and swap in my gsx wiring harness and ecu and be good to go? I'm swapping in my motor and driveline into whatever car I buy anyways, so it's not much more work. I just wanted to make sure theres no other difference that's going to screw me. Thanks.

Why? If he's swapping all that out why not?

Dam it would almost be easier to chop the top off the gsx and find a wrecked spyder for convertible parts

The non turbo spyder shell is the same as a gst spyder, you just need a custom harness.
I just bought a cheap GS shell and going to do turbo awd swap too.

I can tell you from personal experience that it would be so much easier to chop the top then do the awd conversion plus motor/drivetrain swap.... But if you do this awd conversion just find a gst spyder...

The reason I started this thread is this ... I have a built 97 gsx ( built motor, trans, turbo setup etc .. ), the car is starting to rust and I want to take everything out of mine and swap it into a rust free car. Motor, trans, etc are all being installed in the new car. I'm just asking if a GS spyder has the same motor mounts / trans mounts as a gst spyder because I'm doing an awd spyder. My gsx has a custom wiring harness with the fuxe box relocated etc ... all that would be swapped anyways. My only concern was if the motor mounts / trans mounts are the same since I know on 420A cars they are totally different...

I think the 2g non turbo hardtops have totally different motor / trans mounts .... so that wouldn't really work. I believe the 2g spyders are the same as turbo cars, thats what I'm trying to verify.

What experience, you obviously never attemped this before.
I had already help a buddy did an awd turbo swap on his gs spyder its not that hard.
Just swap the harness, drive train and engine over, ,many has done this too on this forums just search. The only difference from a gst awd conversion is that you have swap the harness and ecu form a turbo car over. since every thing has to be remove anyway, making a harness swap very easy.
