Beautiful ride man. Great work Id have a hard time selling it but not buying it. If you wanna change go for it. It will give you new energy like when you first started on that beast.

It's such a nice car and you've had it for so long that if you sold it at this point I think you would just regret it. What I would do is keep it and take away the compound set up, go back to a single turbo, or do whatever you see fit to make it more street drivable again. At the same time buy the 1G and build that to be your hardcore monster drag car. Things like the compound set up transfer over to the 1G. That way you get the best of both worlds, you have your race car and you still have your 2G but set up more mild so you can enjoy it more often.

Lets ask this question. If we strip the car down to stock over winter, leave a freshly built motor in it and leave all the rest of the goodies like suspension and brakes who would be willing to purchase this car. Lets be real guys. Throw some numbers out there. The inside of this car is sick and its hard to find a car without rust anywhere on the body or frame and that has clean paint.

Its going to be hard to sell it or even part it out if you don't have a direction to go afterwards. What I mean is what direction you want to go with your automotive (DSM) future. You have a great ability for follow though with projects so think about were you want to go with it. You stepped outside the box on this one and it suceeded. This car is a great visual point for marketing, i.e. selling products and is well know in the DSM community so I would use that to your advantage if thats your goal.

Or since its like your first child, realize that that the next owner may not put the time and detication into care and treat it like a rental car. If thats your goal, and your able to walk away, and move forward without it, than go that route. Look at it this way, the car is a hot topic now, will it be that way in 6mnths to a year? Can you still get the same cash now and later on. Is the profit or equity a major factor in your next goal? Is not having that available going to slow things down. I always do or try to do the best, worst case scerios for things like this.

2G's are such a more neutral car for road racing and drag racing. My question is, why not get into SCCA. EVERY SINGLE PERSON DRAGS. You never hear about eclipses in Scca. No offense gixxerdrew but its a fwd rag top. Lets be honest, look at the crazy amount of work he had to put into that car to be competitive. I would love to see Paul enter into a GT class race and see how he competes. Thats what i would do. And Paul, you have all the knowledge and ability, and tools to do it, take the next step. Real racers take turns!

I'm glad somebody said it. If you've never been on a road course, start. You've already got a car, now you can use the money to have fun with it.

Maybe raffle the car off? sell raffle tickets for around $30 per ticket. Post online and get the word out on your local craigslist , post flyers..... etc... you could probably get more money that way , im sure everyone on here would probably buy atleast one ticket for the chance to own that car......$30per ticket + 1,000 people =$30,000 :thumb:

Pretty sure raffles are illegal in a situation like this as they're considered a form of gambling, although I know people do do this or at least try

Id sell it, Just as long as the person you sell it to isnt going to beat on it or Yes DONT SELL TO PUNK KIDS. It is a beautiful machine. If it was mine, and i came to these same cross roads. I would only sell it knowing that i could find another cheap project car Or two, depending on,and build them up again. Although, getting rid of any dsm is a sad sad day.

If you were intending on sticking with dsms, then I definitely wouldn't get rid of your 2g.
You have one of my favorite cars on this forum for sure and I was very impressed with your compound setup and its results.

I really can't see how you wouldn't regret selling it to some degree. You said you've owned it for a long time and are now bored of it, but all that time and work put into it is what will make you miss it. I personally love that it is an incredibly fast car that is still streetable. Perhaps one of the best parts of the compound set-up is that you can actually get it to spool in scenarios other then a drag race. If I were you I would keep it and put your next compound set-up on a 1g. If it's not in the budget now, then I would just save up and do it over time.

Having a compound turboed, street driven 2g AND a compound turboed 1g race car would be absolutely sick.

I like that raffle idea, as long as you get over 500 people to buy raffles =) I would buy a few!

Paul, I've thought about this a few times too. I've put so much time and effort into my car and rarely drive it anymore. It's mostly just a track car, and if I don't go to the track, it doesn't get driven. I've changed my plans slightly to make the car more streetable so that I'll want to drive it around a little more. But like me, you'll probably have to take your car to the track to enjoy it, like I do mine.

It's not all that rewarding driving a car like this on the street, especially when you get older. I'm not into the street scene anymore and I've found the only venues that get me excited and even somewhat motivated are track events. They're much more fun and it gives me the perfect opportunity to have fun with the car. If you can't have fun with the car, what good is it having it around? I'll probably hold on to mine regardless, just because it symbolizes so much for me. But like I said, I am working on some ways to ensure I'll enjoy it more.

Just keep it and get a camaro or mustang or something to do a drag project with. I'll never again attempt to build another import for drag racing, but they are awesome street cars. Just get the best of both worlds!

I decided to keep it. I decided to get rid of a few things like the stereo and catback, and might even put a fuel cell in it. I also picked up some new wheels and tires from a buddy. I figured I'd make it a little lighter to help offset the weight of chromoly cage that I'm going to put in this winter. :D I'm excited to spend some time at the track with it now. And I'll continue to street drive it the dozen times a year that I usually do.
