I've been to 2 mechanics so far. One recommended and the other I happened to meet in the streets. The recommeded mechanic talked a good game but just made things worse and didnt complete anything. He never installed the SAFC which I ended up selling and he left hoses dangling from the engine bay for the boost controller (which I ended up removing) The second mechanic was honest and knew his limit when it came down to a boosted vehicle. He was able to replace my suspension properly and install the FPR (shabby job). Right now the car barely boosts and before I flick a match to it I thought I'd ask for a decent mechanic and/or a nearby fellow dsm'er that can visually inspect my setup and tell me what was left undone. Im open for this upcoming weekend and am willing to shell out some dough to someone who is legit and knows their DSM's. If you are interested PM me or shoot me an email at [email protected].

Bring the car to MOD in Normal, IL this weekend; you'll be able to meet a large number of people who could probably help you out. (Convoy details, if you want to drive out with a few people.)

Be sure to check ChitownDSM as well; there's quite a few locals on there who might be able to give you recommendations.

If you just want a shop recommendation, I know a few of the folks over at Douglas Autoworks in Roselle, and they're good people (and know their way around a DSM better than most). I hear Strictly Modified is a reasonable place to go as well, although I've never dealt with them personally.

For shade-tree mechanics, there was a time when I would have recommended Adam (of Devo Tuning), but I'm not sure if he's still doing side-work these days; maybe someone else who's kept in touch with him can chime in?

I wish I could trust it to make that trip. I hardly trust it around the neighborhood at this point. If there were somewhere local I could take it before the meet to get it where I could trust it then I would definitely ride out. Man, you wouldnt believe what I found in my engine bay... how about iron plumbing pipes that belongs in someones house. There were hoses dragging and disconnected etc. LOL, I really dont expect anyone to fix it on the spot. But, if someone with knowing eyes could look and tell me what else the douche bag screwed up I would have a smarter base to work from. Thanks a million Logic for helping out. I will visit CHItowndsm and see what I can find. Oh, I got an offer from a local DSM'er to stop by too. If he comes before Saturday maybe I will be able to pull off the meet. I have my fingers crossed.
