I'm taking my tubular punishment header off and was wondering where you guys recommend me sending it out to get coated. I need to cut down on under hood temps.

I had my SBR Manifold, turbine housing and O2 housing coated inside and out at PCI here locally...they use Tech Line coatings in various colors. I have no complaints at all. Shit looks real nice and it's real durable. It was $100 for the manifold, $50 for the turbine housing and $30 for the O2 housing. All cast iron is double coated. They coated the insides of the parts as well....soooo yea.

Performance Coatings Inc. out to Auburn, WA...check their site out.

The inside of the mani and turbine housing were coated...I was a bit wary of this as well, but they explained how it would work better (drawing the heat straight through the insides)....with the heat retained better rather than radiating, it will increase efficiency. We will see what happens.

There's gotta be something out there to prevent heat from soaking into the metal then. I really don't see the point of only coating the outside other than to make it pretty. I always thought when they coated things on the inside and outside is when they become cool to the touch within seconds of turning off.

I had JetHot, check my photo album, but in my opinion it was hands down the best. I melted my C/F hood with the stock DNP header, it would just glow bright hot red/orange. Got it Jethot "blue" and no more hot hood, cut under hood temps down ALOT. Well worth the money.

If you coat the outside, all you are doing is reducing the heat that the part radiates (resulting in cooler underhood temps and cooler part to the touch)

If you coat the inside as well, it keeps the heat moving along, rather than becoming stagnant and retaining within the part. Improves the efficiency, since the heat is kept moving along. I really don't see there being a problem. The parts were sand blasted and cleaned, coated, heated to cure the coating, etc. We will see what happens.

I don't see why it would be a problem either. People get their pistons ceramic coated on top, and whatever the coating is on the side, too.

Yep, pistons and valves. That sees higher heat for a longer period of time than the manifold and and turbine housing would.

I have contacted Tirado and they have assured me there is no chance that the stuff on the inside is gonna come off and go through the turbo. They seem like highly knowledgeable people and are very reasonably priced, $125 for the coating inside and out. When punishment is done with the repair they are gonna send it to them for me so they can coat it.

There's different types of ceramic coatings

Theres one for pistons/cranks/manifolds/valves/rods etc...

Good choice :thumb:

I have personally seen alot of the local cars (daily drivers and track) that Tirado has coated, never once had an issue with the coating flaking off and still looks as good as the day it was installed

Im also speaking from personal experience mind you :sneaky:

Hands down! Carlos @ TCC is the way to go. I'm preparing to send him an intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and a fuel rail to get done. I'll post the before and after pictures. TCC's work is top notch and when I saw the valve cover for my EVO, I could've almost ate from it.
