Ive been liftin since i was 13 and im now 20. Liftin has really helped me the last year or so because its a great way to get escape from workin on my dsm. I currently can bench press 315 for three consecutive reps so i guess im in shape LOL Just curious how many others on here workout. What can yall bench?

That's weak, my weiner can bench like 400 and runs 10s in the quarter mile.

The bench press is the drag race of the fitness world.

I'm a old man but could do 315X15 after my heavy workout. Lifting heavy gets you hurt once you start reaching your natural bone and tendon structure limit, I found that out the hard way;). Never did juice...stay away from that crap!

+1 for the juice..stay away its nothing but trouble..im only 19 so i have a few years to improve..what are you guys weighing in at? im 6'2" and weighed in at 217 this morning

I work out for ice hockey, i play D2 and D3 College hockey. My team won nationals my freshman year.... I dont max out really, but last time i maxed was the other year and i benched 225. Im 5'11" and play ice hockey. I cant be to big or else you get to bulky and not agile enough.

I squat over 315 though haha

I run at least 4ks (2.5miles) four times a week and do core training with it. Then i do kung fu 2 times a week, and damn thats a work out

in hs powerlifting i benched 190 LOL.. and squated 335 .. i am 5 6 weight 135lbs..

and my 40 yd dash in FB was 4.59

i sit in my ass all day playing xbox mostly forza 3 or gears/halo, i maybe lift a bag of cheetos or a Dr pepper now and then, and i run about 17.5 feet to the restroom when i really need to! ROFL

I was benching 315 at 17 years old weighing 169. I had really been trying to double my bodyweight but never got there. At my prime in 98 I was doing approx 430. I did 305 for three reps in incline bench. And managed to do 300 in military press. My leg press was around 1300. I used to do preacher curls for 6 reps at 245 I was at that point a professional bouncer. I also lifted the back end of a 86 ford escort hatchback off the ground three times a minimum of 18 inches each time.

^LOL you sound like a carbon copy of me. I'm going to make one more run at being strong when my hip heals then lean out and leave the heavy stuff behind.....tried a few times but its addicting.

96 killer I'm with ya right now! Gonna be on my arse another few weeks, picking up Halo Reach tonight:hellyeah:

I never lift heavy really. The last time I did it was just the bench for a pt assessment while I was in police training. I did 255LB for one rep. That is at 165LB and 5'9". If I had weights I would get that max up to help on my max push ups. I'm sure with the workout I have I would be up to 300LB one rep in a month. Here are the stats I remember from that pt assessment.

My weight-165LB
Height-5'9"
Max bench-255LB
Max push ups in a minute-63
Max sit ups in a minute-48
Vertical leap with no steps-19 inch
300M sprint- 36 seconds
1.5 mile run- 11:40

They were done in that order also. So some of the things like the 1.5 mile run and especially the push ups would be better if those muscles were not already used. I also did 14 pull ups last time I maxed on them. They were not part of the police training though.

Currently, I do a combination of things. For the morning I follow The Complete Guide To Navy SEAL Fitness by Stew Smith (also known as The 12 Weeks To BUD/S Workout). In the afternoon I do Insanity. The following is the workout for the first day of Stew's book (it is an initial pst to track progress):

500yd swim using sidestroke or breast stroke
Max push ups in 2 minutes resting in the up position
Max sit ups in 2 minutes resting in the up position
Max pull ups with no time limit
1.5 mile run in pants and boots

Here's another workout from just the second week:

Pull ups sets x reps
Regular grip 2 x 7
Reverse grip 2 x 7
Close grip 2 x 7
Wide grip 2 x 7
Mountain climbers 2 x 7
Push ups
Regular 2 x 15
Triceps 2 x 10
Wide 2 x 15
Dive bomber 2 x 15
Dips 2 x 15
Arm haulers 3 x 30
8-count body builders 15

Neck
up/down 25
left/right 25

Abs do two sets of
Sit ups 40
4-way crunches 40 (regular, reverse, left, right. 40 of each)
Leg levers 40
Flutter kicks 50
1/2 sit ups 40
Stretch 1 min

Run 4 miles timed

Thats kind of what I do now. Well Crossfit is what its called more for cardio endurance than power. I used to bench, bench, and bench somemore but learned that the more muscle you have, the more o2 it takes to fuel it.

I used to do Crossfit but needed something specific for my goals. Crossfit will kick your a$$ if you put out though.

I've never really understood lifting... But I do like to stay in shape using a routine similar to this one v v v Dive bomber pull ups are amazing and pull ups are very under rated.

I never lifted to get big. I always lifted for strength and explosive power. I used to race moutain bikes downhill and cross country at a professional so all my cardio was thru that or martial arts. I have attained a black belt level of proficiency in three different disciplines.
I don't do any heavy lifting now. I did find and exceed the limits of muscle, tendon and cartiledge. In 98 when I lifted the car three times I wound up with an umbilical hernia. Actually four separate one inch long tears. I never did steroids. I also blew out a shoulder and a Nike air sole shoe while doing shoulder shrugs with 560. When I did 305 on incline bench my single spotter couldn't spot me alone so he grabbed a friend. My friend was 5'6" his friend was 6'4". When they lifted off the gave me the bar almost a foot crooked and a foot to the right. I dropped it. Broke my sternum and two ribs. They couldn't lift it off me so I wound up still having to press out the weight injured. I did 300 on military press solo with no spotter. At some time in 98 I was head bouncer at... Well it's probably best not to say where it was. One night a guy got rowdy and attacked the GM my best friend. I was attempting to subdue him on the ground with an aikido wrist lock. It was working so I really sank it in. No reaction. The guy was hopped up on drugs. So I grabbed his elbow and rotated it in. Usually very painful. I tore his arm out of the socket. I literally felt thru his arm all the tendons and muscles tearing. The only left holding his arm onto his body was his skin. I threw up. That's when I stopped lifting. I figured at that point I was stronger than I ever needed to be. I never hit the heavy weights again and don't plan to. Later on at the end of 02 I got bumped to Madison wi by my work. In one weekend I moved my girlfriend back in her parents house. Moved myself to Madison and replaced the clutch on the awd talon in 17 degree weather in my parking lot. I had everything done was just trying to put the tranny back on by balancing it on a floor Jack. I dropped the tranny twice. Got pissed off and said screw it just bent over the fender grabbed the tranny off the ground lifted it up and put it on. Got the car done and drove it to Madison. Within a few days I couldn't move. I blew out a disc in my neck. I struggled with that for 5 years before it completely blew out and I lost the use of my left arm. My left arm withered and died. It was crushing to experience. I underwent surgery and had two vertabrae fused together and regained use of the arm. I am now lifting weights to help knit myself back together. No heavy weights. I have to admit I was a total iron addict. I remember lifting weights when I was young and that Olympic bar felt like the solidest chink of metal I ever held in my hands. Later on after I got strong to the point where I could rack that bar up with 400 and 500 plus pounds I found out that that bar is a really bendy flexible piece of spring steel. Boing boing boing.

96 killer I'm with ya right now! Gonna be on my arse another few weeks, picking up Halo Reach tonight:hellyeah:

:thumb: you bet I'v had mine on reserve since forever!!! going to kick some booty when i get it :rocks:

but i do work out, every week day i go to the gym(planet fitness) when i get off work. when i was in school i have taken some courses in kinesiology that helps me out a lot. i am not in my best shape that i once was but im getting better:pray:

I lifted in highschool and when doing squats we had to stack up 3 of those plastic step box things you step up on and then back down. We had to squat until we touched the top of the top box. It actually made squating way easier since you didn't have to use your muscles to stop the downward motion of the weight and by the time I was a senior I was squatting over 500lbs multiple times and I was about 5'10 180lbs. Needless to say my back gives me issues from time to time. I'll get back into casual weightlifting sometime, but I will never max out or train to failure on anything again. Too risky imo. The tangible progress you get from weightlifting is one of the most rewarding feelings to me though.

I haven't lifted in almost a year now due to an L5-S1 herniated disk. I've had 2 surgeries. One in May that fixed it, then 2 days later a friend drove me down a road full of potholes (when the day before I had asked her not to take me down rough roads but she thought I meant only for that day :banghead:) and reherniated it. The second surgery in August didn't fix the damage done. But before that I would run 2-4 miles a day. 2 in the morning and sometimes 2 at night. I have a bowflex that I could max out benching, shrugs, squats, deadlifts. I used that every day for about 45 minutes. I have a punching bag that I'd hit too for 10 minutes or so. And an exercise bike I'd ride for 30 minutes or so.
Back when I did free weights 7 years ago (I'm going back to free weights and doing P90X once my back is fixed) my max was 245 I did twice, military pressed 185 twice, did 110 dumbbell bench presses, curled 70 pounds. I'm 5'10" or so and weighed 185 at that time. I probably was stronger at a point or two after moving to the Bowflex but the way they measure weight is not the same as freeweight. Right now I can curl 90-100 for a set of 8-12 on the Bowflex and there's no way I can curl 90 pounds free weights.

But, for right now I just do 12 ounce curls mostly.

I have lifted for a few years now. After damaging my wrist I can’t handle bench press any more, so I do everything else and try to keep from putting to much stress on it. My brother is a naturall body builder which is very hard to do without juice or pills. Here is a routine from a few years ago that always cracks me up. He probably has gained another 20lbs (competition weight) since then.

in hs powerlifting i benched 190 LOL.. and squated 335 .. i am 5 6 weight 135lbs..

This is a mirror image of me. But I'm 5'8 132lbs. Max bench is around 195, the only consecutive sort of lifting I do is 12oz curls. I do more cardio and swimming than anything. At the age of 23, I'm more worried about getting a beer gut.

I've been lifting a lot more in the last month since I broke up with my gf.

What does everyone take for supplements? I've just been on mass peak weight gainer and cell tech hardcore. Then of course your multiple vitamins, fish oil, and glucosamine chondroitin.

I may dip into some more serious supplements/helpers later on. I have a hard time building mass, if creatine doesn't work, I know what will.

I also work out because of hockey. I play professional roller hockey and play for team missouri also for roller. Still play ice, but only in a respectable local rink league where former junior and college D1-D3 players play.

I am 6'0, 165lbs and will be on my first cycle of dinabol in about a month to help gain the extra 15-20lbs im wanting. I max out on the bench at 185 putting up about 4 of those.

I'm a fat ass. I'm trying to get into shape and I don't know how you guys do it. After working all day, when I get home I have no motivation or energy to exercise at all. All I want to do is sit on the couch and zone out.

I've always lifted since high school. It's hard for me to gain and keep weight on. And usually once I actually start seeing a difference, something happens like lifting a motor and getting a popped blood vessel and having internal bleeding for months afterwards. Yup.

But I'm 5' 11" @ 150lbs. Max I've benched was 225. You really can't tell that I work out, unless I have my sleeves up or shirt off. Sadly, whenever I get a g/f, I tend to work out less due to lack of time and lose everything. Hoping to start getting a little more back into it. It sucks I lost my workout buddy so have no one to go with anymore now.
