I bought a new fob for my '97 and I am having problems programming it. Im following the instructions which are pretty simple...

1) Ground pin #1 in diag. port(or jump to pin #4)
2) Turn key over and back, doors will lock and unlock to signal car is ready to program
3) Press any key on fob three times within 10 seconds

It says if the programming worked your doors will lock and unlock again. Thats where my problem is. When I ground the pin and turn the key my doors lock and unlock, but then I dont get anything after that. Ive tried different things when pushing the buttons on the fob. Ive tried holding the buttons for a few seconds, tapping them faster, pushing all three, etc.

I'm having the same issue... my doors do not lock/unlock at step 2.
No aftermarket alarm, blah blah etc. :banghead:

I did buy new door lock actuators off eBay, but I don't see how that would muck anything up.

The doors wont unlock and lock in step number two unless you turn the key from off to the acc. position than back.

Well aware of that from the other 40 people who posted the instructions :thumb:

It appears my [Security] light does not come on when I lock the doors.
I know for a fact that it used to work, and the kickpanel fuse is not blown.

This is most likely my problem, but I'm not sure why it doesn't come on anymore.

I followed all the steps thoroughly, and so far the lock and panic buttons work on the remote. However, the unlock botton does not work. Also another thing I noticed was that, upon programming the remote, the doors ONLY lock rather than lock/unlock.

Note: The power door locks in the interior are working fine. The light on the remote flashes for all the buttons when they are pressed and I'm sure the remote is fine.

Just incase, this is the procedure I went through:
1) Turned ignition to OFF.
2) Grounded pin 1 of the Data Link Connector with Pin 4.
3) Closed all the doors.
4) Turn the key to ACC, then back to OFF. The power locks ONLY locked. (The system is now ready to be programmed)
5) Press a button on remote 3 times. (I tried the whole procedure with pressing the unlock button 3 times and redid the whole procedure with pressing the lock button 3 times)
7) Heard a click; I'm assuming that the doors will lock/unlock to signal that the codes were received.
8) Removed the connection between pins 1 & 4.

Any ideas as to why the unlock button does not work?
Thanks.

UPDATE: Found the Solution...I think.

So I took my problem to a local car shop and asked the same person who fixed my power door locks to look into my problem. After trying to reprogram the remote, he still got the same results.

His theory was that upon fixing the power door locks (months before), he probably wired something wrong. So I guess that's the answer to my question, just wanted to let you guys know. (Although I'm not a hundred percent sure)

well after some searching and not really finding what i needed i decided to post. my problem is my keyless entry stopped working the other day. i have replaced the transmitter batteries and tried reprogramming the fob but still no luck. the fob works it lights up when pushed, when trying to program the fob however the doors would not unlock and lock when they are supposed to to signal its ready for programming. at first i thought it was a reciever problem till then. now im leaning towards etac ecu i havent dug into testing anything yet just thought i would shoot out and see if maybe someone else has had the same problem. thanks

I have never had any problems with mine, However I do have a whole new Keyless entry unit that I took out of my old Talon. I Don't have the remotes, but I do have the main Unit.

Check all your fuses.

Also try disconnecting the car battery for 10 minutes then reconnecting it. This may RESET the Keyless unit.

I'll PM you with Info on the Unit I have if you need it.

yes it programs the eeprom inside the keyless unit i did type it wrong thanks for the correction. ill have to remove my door panels today and check the cylinder switchs and the central locking switch see if maybe my probs in there

I am having the same issue, I can't get my system into programming mode. I have tried everything and gone over the steps a 1000 times. Is there anyway to test the reciever and make sure that it is working properly?

:banghead:

1. Locate the Data Port.

2. Insert keys in ignition and leave in the OFF position.

3. Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 and connect the Data Port with a suitable jumper wire, leave jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure. Make sure you know which terminals are 1 and 4.

4. Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, turn the ignition switch to the ACC position and then back to OFF. Note: The doors will automatically lock and unlock once at this time indicating that the system is in the programming mode.

5. Press the LOCK button on the transmitter to be registered three times within 10 seconds. Upon successful programming, the door will lock and unlock once.

6. If there are two remotes, register the first, then register the second. Repeat step 5 within one minute to program second remote. After completing the second programming, the doors will lock and unlock once.

7. Disconnect the programming wire and remove the keys from the ignition.
Hope this helps out, looks easy enough.

I have a 95 GS-T remote says
FCC ID: GQ43VT6T
ISC:1470 K1362

When I press the unlock button i here my receiver click twice and dome lights turn on

I have a 98 gs and a parts car gs that has a remote and it works on the parts car but when tried to reprogram it it wont pick it up and I asked the dealer if this car had one and it did any ideas wuld be great thanks

Can anybody tell me what the voltage reading I am supposed to be getting on my multimeter when I hook the positive lead into pin one and the negative lead into pin 4 on the OBDII connector (I am reading about 8 volts regardless of what position the key is in, OFF, ACC, or even with the key out of the ignition completely...still about 8 volts)? I am aware that pin one is long side, left, and pin 4 long side, 4th from left.

I am having the most difficult time in the world getting my ECU to go into programming mode (tried EVERYTHING in this thread, but my door locks will not cycle signaling the ECU going into program mode...jumped pins one and four, even had the dealership try it with the OBDII scan tool), and even let a Mitsubishi mechanic at the dealership try to figure it out for four hours the other day. I know for an absolute fact that my 99 OZ GS came with FACTORY keyless (had the dealership do a VIN search first, then I tore apart my backseat and took the back panel out as well exposing the receiver, and have verified at the Mitsubishi dealership that the receiver and the Fobs I have are the factory ones, they match and should work, and also that the receiver is in fully functioning condition). My power door locks work fine as well, and they work fine with the key (I can turn the key in the door twice to lock/unlock both doors, etc, and like I said, even the damned Mitsubishi mechanic couldn't figure it out)!

I am down to chasing wires, and need any of you 2G electronic experts to tell me whether or not 8 volts is proper between ports one and four on the OBDII port, and if it is, what wires/ports should I be checking on the receiver harness? Any help is appreciated, I just want to get these damned Fobs programmed, put my back seat back together, and move on to more important projects. Or, do any of you know of any other ways to trick my 99 GS ECU or EPROMS to go into programming mode?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Can some onE help me.. Is the little box inside the Rl panel do I have to take it off I can't find the little box..

I'm having some trouble like another person earlier in this thread mentioned with reprogramming the remote. I bought an aftermarket one, Remocon RMC-105, and it will program in that the doors lock/unlock when I press and hold a button for a few seconds (doesn't seem to need to press it three times). However, the remote will not unlock/lock the doors, but the panic works.

So, his solution involved replacing the ignition switch, which was changed on his to a non-keyless ignition switch. However, I don't think mine was. I bought the car without a remote last year, so I can't say it never has been replaced. But the key works in everything, so if they did, they would have replaced all the locks too.

Any ideas on what else it could be?

alright i have a few questions.

I can only get a fob with id# GQ43VT6T? so GQ43VT7T is a no no?

i'm assuming the eclipse didn't have a trunk release, correct?

also, do all eclipse GST's have it. i have a 1998 and not sure what that green light thing is or even what to look for. maybe pics will help, this is my first dsm.

My question is.

If I never had a fob when I purchased te car how am I supposed to find out what FCC ID I need. Do I just go to dealership? There isn't one close to my area that is any decent. I ordered the slim black bar of soap and when I get to programming stage and press the lock or unlock button 3 times nothing happens.

Ok, lets try this again. First off I have a 95 (late 94 talon) tsi. It did NOT come with keyless entry. I DO NOT get the green security light when I lock the doors, I HAVE installed a 10amp fuse in the driver side kick panel for "security". I DO NOT have the factory hood switch (although the wire is there).

I have obtained two different modules for behind the passenger seat by the rear speaker. The first one was out of an avenger. The second one I sourced from a 97 GST. I have two brand new remotes from keyless ride. I also have a pin ground tool or a straight up piece of wire (jumper) or my dsmlink (put it diagnositc mode).

I have followed the directions to a T. I CANNOT get the doors to lock unlock after jumping and then flipping from off to acc and then to off.
All doors lock/unlock with key in outside of door or inside switches. WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I MISSING? There is zero aftermarket alarm in this vehicle. I DO have a turbo timer installed but I'm doing all of these tests with the parking break down so as to disable it (really turn the car off) when I cycle the keys.

Thank you in advance.

Im trying to reset my keyless entry, My car came with a key fob but it never worked. I popped off the rear speaker panel and it has the keyless module.

Im doing the same reset method for 97+ dsm as the one posted on the first page. I get the doors to lock/unlock and then when I press the buttons on the key fob I get nothing. Is the LED on the remote supposed to light up when the buttons are pressed? I have 2 key remotes and neither of them seem to work.

So no one on here mentions anything about 1st gens... I was wondering if I could just get a standard mitsu 2-3 button transmitter, HYQ12ABA (196A) for example, & program my module to that? I have an OMRON MB542448 antitheft module & alldata has instructions on how to program it.. or I could just try the 97+ way.. insights/ideas please.

I don't remember any of the 1G's having a factory keyless remote option and almost sure (considering how long it's been) it wasn't available at all on a 91. Are you sure you don't have something aftermarket.

Yes I'm positive this is a factory installed alarm system. I have an OMRON MB542448 module, a stock hood pin switch, & a green security light on the instrument cluster... though I'm pretty sure you are correct about 91's not having a keyless remote entry option. Which is kinda stupid in my opinion. I took some pix for proof of the alarm system & some of the alldata bulletin. I'll try & post them soon.

this is the anti-theft module located behind the passenger side kick panel. it takes the place of the power door lock module.
