hi guys

im currently running an aftermarket BOV wich does NOT recirculate the air , and it makes that ( imo ) awesome sound when i change gears

Now i've just started upgrading my engine alot and i know that i should definetly recirculate the air

Im wondering, will a BOV wich recirculates the air still make that sound when i change gears? It doesnt need to be as loud as the one i have on now , as i assume some of the sound dissapears but can you still hear it?

does a 1g bov bolt up just as a stock 2g? i really want to look for one.

Not without an adapter.

Here is a picture I found of the 1g on the right, 2g on the left.

Here's a link if you want to put a 1g BOV on a 2g car.

I agree with a lot of these posts. If you've never taken the factory intake pipe off you'll be surprised when you look inside to find a rather obstructive pipe where the BOV recirculates. Dejon makes a great hard intake pipe (mine's red as well) and when I give my car some scoot that recirculated Greddy Type-RS makes a lot of noise.

Wow, those are what 2g bov's look like? No wondering people go for 1g. Anyway, I dont mind the 1g, i have my ups and downs on if i like it. I mean compared to all i hear around the cities its ALOT quieter. But hey im new to the turbo scene,NOT to the dsm world. Had to throw that in there. I guess it all depends on if you want to be noticed or not. But i know when i shift at 14psi, it makes a whoosh. sounds mean. driving normal you just hear that nice little pssssssssssss.

While I do agree that Dejon is a good company to buy fabricated parts from, I still say that you need to give it another once over to make sure everything is okay with it. IDK if it was just mine but I had to do some pretty serious deburring from the welds (and I only had the recuirculation fitting. Not the VC vent and char. can). I did the best I could but there were still some in there and I now have VERY SMALL chips on my compressor wheel.

As for a BOV, the most you would need right now is a 1G (due to the fact that a 2G leaks at even stock boost levels). Anything more then that is just wasteful or money that can go elsewhere. If you are in it for the sound, then a 1G with a metal intake pipe with open element filter would do quite nicely.

QFT  There is NOTHING wrong with liking the sound of the BOV. Personally, the spool of the turbo is what sends chills up my spine, the bov is the cherry one top! Kudos to you for enjoying the sound and still wanting to recirculate it! I have a Greddy Type S recirculated with hard intake piping and a cone filter and I have some friends with imports who ask to ride in the car just so they can hear the BOV some more ROFL

don't waste 200$+ on a bov unless you really want to I wanna buy a tial bov, but I try not to buy it and buy real performance parts LOL. Stick with a 1g and recirculate it, I've taken off the dump tube for 2 min to see how it sounds. I found the 1g bov sounds TERRIBLE vented to atmosphere like it's a sneeze/fart.

Tial's and the type s are the best sounding imo.

my 1g is loud as hell if i pull it, but just regular trying to save gas to drive to my girl 40 miles away one way you can't hear anything LOL. ive noticed anything about 4rpm makes a noise anything before that nada.

Nice tenn, I didnt even notice that but i dont think anyone noticed you had it backwards. But well all knew:). But yes on the bov sound. It does make a sound, not a loud sound But its all up to the drivers preference. Im in sleeper mode:)

there are partially recirculating bov's that sounds cool and pretty much cure the off throttle stumble.

Back when I had my forge bov on my evo, it was recirculated and it was still VERY noticeable...even to those around me in traffic. With the right intake/bov...or enough boost...you can still pick on those around you by blowing off in their ears :)

The sound is louder if you have a metal air inlet tube but A good free flowing k&n on a stock rubber tube will still make a very noticable noise. Probably about half as loud as BOV but noticeable.

At 22psi with a Frank Level 5 mated to a Dejon 3" intake on my buddy's 2G TSi AWD, the 1G valve was exactly as loud with the valve vented as it was recirculated.

If you want a louder BOV, use the money you'd spend on buying another valve to do enough mods to allow you to run more boost. Amazingly, you'll be rewarded with a louder blow off valve as well as a faster car.

haha i love that sound. but yea man recirculating the hks ones still make a pretty sick sound, kinda reminds me of a horse when they breath out you know? its hard to explain. but thwey sound pretty sick either way. I prefer the PEWWWWWW sound though, it makes everyone look around like WTF happened, but yea recirculating it is what its kinda intended to do haha

It depends on the BOV. My 1g is not terribly loud. You can hear it in the car, withing a few feet of the car. But its not loud enough to hear if the windows are up and the stereo is on.

hey guys, am new at DSM, my first eclipse 98 GST, i would like to know what is a good blow of valve that makes that nice sound when you let of the gas pedal, not too expensive, and piping, i also would liek to know that, if i put a new blow of valve will i need to modify the ECU or anything?

just remeber that if you are running the stock MAS that it really needs to be recirculated, unless you have the GM MAF-t, cause if you are still on the the stock MAS then you are venting air that has already been read by the MAS so if you want to atmospheric vent the BOV, go with the GM MAS and GM MAF-T, it goes after the BOV, that is how i have mine set up and it sounds great and turns a lot of heads.

This was posted above but i think that it was just passed up, and it is very important, unless you like your car running like crap and possibly doing damage to your engine.

Theirs a lot of good ones. Greddy, HKS, etc..... But you have to recirculate your BOV unless you do a GM MAF conversion.
