I have noticed a lot of cops speeding, I watched 4 drag race through town, I have seen dozens flip their lights to get through a red light just to get to a diner or gas station, I can't remember the last time I was next to a cop at a light when they didn't floor it leaving the light.

Anyone else notice this or is it just my local area? What can be done about this?

That is because believe it or not police cars are built for speed. Police are also not restricted to speed limits and traffic lights. They also have to get their breaks over as soon as possible so they usually order ahead or go to the same place every day and have their food ready. They try to eat it hot and real fast then go, unless they have to take a certain amount of time for their break.

The reason they are "speeding" is because of the fact that they would never catch up to someone to be able to use their moving radar who is speeding. Speed limits are intentionally lower than the real safe speed of the road so idiot drivers don't crash, police however are trained in the police academy for performance driving.

One thing you rarely see though is a cop change a light which they CAN do. I also don't really believe you have seen a cop turn on their lights to make it through the cycle because well.... THEY CAN CHANGE THE LIGHT!

Cops where I live try to get you to race them on the street because they have new magnums. I work at a park and I seen atleast 4 cars parked next to each other and do nothing for an hour or so. All I do is pull out my phone and make it look like I'm taking a picture and they scram! All u can do is get the number on the side of the car and call the station and tell them what the police cruiser is doing.

You are the most ignorant human being alive. :applause:

So what you're saying is a cop on a empty road needs to go 20 over to catch the speeders that aren't there?
I don't know about everywhere but here the cops can NOT change the lights.
Where do you get your information from?

You are the most ignorant human being alive. :applause:

Yeah, because I'm so totally wrong.

My dad was a police officer for 25 years. I have been on several ride alongs also.

Not only that but my friend's dad is the fleet chief of the entire state of Oregon and I work at his shop when people don't show to do basic repairs/maintenance. I've seen what goes into police cars because I've worked on them before.

With the street light if you don't believe me you can find the information online easily. Plus I can assure you it is cheaper for every light that is replaced since 2003 to use that system instead of manufacturing several different models with different bulbs and installation procedures a technician would have to learn.

I'm the idiot?:ohdamn:

ask any cop...they will tell you that they are above the law...

Just to be clear I am not trying to bash all police officers. It just irks me that they can arrest me for the exact things they do.

I have had a few cops try to race my z, it was SO hard to resist, I know I would have wasted them.

To stop the stupidity plague...

Police NOT responding to a situation or crime ARE required to OBEY ALL traffic laws and signs. Police enforce the law, they ARE NOT above it.

Police are given breaks the same as everyone else, if a situation arises during an officers break that requires their attention, they are required to leave where they are to respond. In those situations they are expected to return to pay for any unpaid item, or the city will reimburse the place. They DO NOT have places they visit every day where their food is ready. They may have usual places where the waitress and cook have become friends and know what theyr "usual" is.

The reason they are "speeding" is because of the fact that they would never catch up to someone to be able to use their moving radar who is speeding. Speed limits are intentionally lower than the real safe speed of the road so idiot drivers don't crash, police however are trained in the police academy for performance driving.

If they need to catch up to someone to be able to use their "moving" radar (what we call pacing) they already know the speed the person is going on. The speed limit set is a reasonable and prudent speed required of all official and civilian drivers. It is set to be safe for all drivers. It is not purposefully set lower to accomodate idiots.

A police academy provides you a cruiser and a course on driving, and you must pass a test. However, nowhere in this test does it tell you, you are now allowed to drive faster than everyone.

One thing you rarely see though is a cop change a light which they CAN do. I also don't really believe you have seen a cop turn on their lights to make it through the cycle because well.... THEY CAN CHANGE THE LIGHT!

You are an idiot. A police officer responding to a situation or crime, is allowed to use his emergency lights to bypass traffic. This is the only situation it is allowed in. They DO NOT have light changers.

You are such an ignorant dolt. :banghead:

Source: Unlike this clown gusu, I have a family full of police officers.

The majority of lights are timed or on a pressure sensitive pad system.

However there are some places that have detectors that detect police, emergency vehicle lights and or a transmitted signal, But this is not a way to change lights like you are describing. The cop can't simply press a button and have the light change.

The closest thing they have in active use today is for infrared and pressure plate systems. It is most typically found on a police motorcycle. Since the bike is not usually heavy enough to trigger the plate or may be missed by the infrared system, they produce and electro-magnetic signal to alert the system to their presence.

Funny, thing my local PD does that all the time its like they're play tag with other each other. LOL
It could be a routine, or have call otherside of town. :idontknow:

I live on same street as my PD oneway and they fly down it alot. I'm not worried about it.

Next time at a stop light ask the cop What you running under there? Lol

We have had several single car officer crashes, and officer caused crashes here, I am worried about it.

That'd be a cool job to have, work on cop cars all day just my opinion.

The person I bought my current 1998 rs. Father/son run at Summit race park. Son's a mustang fan father is a mopar guru has a 69' Dart. But, the works at Bigshot Dyno and on city PD cars.

We have had several single car officer crashes, and officer caused crashes here, I am worried about it.

WTF, they must be rookies.

They don't crash here.

I havnt noticed this alot in my area except for they like to cruise through stop signs at 5+ mph or make random U-turns.. And in the winter time they like to floor their car from a stop and kick the rear end out which is stupid because i almost saw one crash into my friends wall while we were chillin outside haha. But just stuff like this it kinda irks me but it could be worse. I don't have much against police because ive been let off 3 times but 2 were just stupid things like license plate and head light. My girls dad is an ex sheriff and her step brother is a current police officer so I got a little bit of info here and there.

My brother is a fireman, and I know for a fact that the fire trucks and ambulances here have a switch that allows them to change the light to green if needed. I'm not sure if the police use the same technology, but I don't see why they wouldn't.

This is just locally, I doubt that it applies everywhere.

Also, police have to follow the rules too. If you see any problems or issues that bother you, your best course of action is to report them to the police department.

I know that here in Vegas there's a lot of older lights that react to bright pulsating lights. I've flickered my highbeams a lot of times and have gotten them to change quickly. Don't worry, I didn't blind anyone. It just handy late at night when I don't feel like waiting 3 minutes on a red light when I can't see anyone in any direction.

There's been a few officer crashes out here. The cops in this town are seriously getting out of hand. Some of you may have heard about the guy they executed in front of a Costco. In general I hate cops. I've met a couple cool ones but the rest need to have their badges revoked.

Plain and Simple? Cops are people too.

You hop in a car your company gives you that was build for stress and performance. See if you go your entire career without "seeing what she can do."

I don't know what you guys are smoking, but the crown vics even with interceptor packages are slow as hell. I'm not sure sure about the chargers, but the crown vics are a joke. If you have police trying to race you, chances are because they think you are a dumb ass and will take the bait, race them, then they pull your dumb ass over for drag racing.

Also police are not allowed to break the law (aka go through lights, speed and etc) unless they have their lights on, and i am pretty sure that they must be using it to respond to an emergency, but it is common for that to be abused for non emergency purposes.

Cops have to follow the law, too. By the logic that because they are cops they can speed, they should be allowed to just go around and murder and rape people. One thing that pisses me off too is they sit in their V8 old man cars munching away on donuts and coffee with the engine on. Waste of gas and tax payer money if you ask me. Cops should only be used in big cities. Having mass resources like that for traffic violations is just stupid and a waste of money, and they rake in the cash. There is a fine line criminally between a speeder and a murderer, and it's not right. I don't get how rules of the road turned into law.
