Back in 2008 I bought my 1998 GST Spyder for $5700 with 78k. Beginning of spring 2009 i bought my 91 GST for $4300 with 125k on the body. About 3 months ago I bought my 92 TSI AWD for $4000 with 148k on it i think i forget

I've made it a point not to pay more than 2 thousand for one. Out of the stream of flipped cars (buy fix and sell) I think the most expensive was 1100 for a 91 AWD, and least was 110$ for a rolling shell FWD 1st gen laser.

But as far as the ones I kept for myself again 2k max. If I found an ultra clean low miles 2gb awd Talon fully loaded or a 1999 GSX silver with black interior I would go to about 9.5k$.

search before you post, it even shows up for you now when you start typing a post...

200 for a 92TSi AWD with dropped valve/hole in piston (165k miles), 300 for motor donor 92 Eclipse GS (145k miles). Sold the stirpped/hulking GS shell to pic-a-part for 200 bucks, so 300 total. Been running for a year.

Here's my experience, Kinda long story but lesson learned.

My first dsm a 1997 gs with mmm 104-114xxx on the clock. Paid way too much for it but it was power everything with gray leather seats, keyless entry stock alarm.
Asking price was 5900 it was an auto. Got it for 5500 they said it was Garage kept ?? Sure body was great the radiator support was shot rust start to form on drivers strut tower. The 2g sat in their garage since 1997. Every little overlooked maintence item needed replaced. grounds, battery, starter, alternator, water pump, Timing belt and complete fluid change. Believe or not their wasn't any leaks. Replaced all this after I bought. :ohdamn:

Have a picture of it in my album.

Sold it for 1500 it had about 170xxx took major loss on it compared to what I bought it for. Reason I sold it as due to my job, needed bills paid. My next would still be a Dsm, took awhile looking. Was looking at turbo cars besides the 420a's. There where some decent 1g's on craigs but need some work done, that could lead to full rebuild. I couldnt do that needed a running dsm asap but wish I could.
Then, I found this little jem an alot of people keep passing it up but I knew I could save from the scraper.

One I have now is Black Eclipse RS with 100k paid 1200 guy wouldnt go lower, only problem he told me was the trans. slipped. I actually smiled :D when he told me. Reason, is because from what I learned from these forums about the
a604's. It turned out they neglected the required auto fluid and filter. His daughter ran completely empty with checking or filling it.

It only jump/slipped twice on me that due I had to drive it to the nearest gas station on way home. Checked the dipstick an yup my hunch and Dsm'r where right it was emptied, but more like 2-3 quarts low  Filled her up problem solved, but did a complete flush fill with new filter. She's good as new only minor problem is the Overdrive doesnt engage right away, or light on cluster don't turn on. This too could minor also, due to the linkage on shifter ??

Pictures are in my album also, and my avatar. Oh, look from my engine bay picture sometime tonight, only cosmetic is the typical paint/clearcoat peelfade minor rust on hatch but hatch stays up :). Someone gave it a nice karate kick Dent under the driver's mirror, and of course the typical radiator support underneath has rust or needs replaced. Very minor rust on strut tower and hood isnt rust underneath I was like OMG :D

I learned my lesson by waiting it out awhile looking for a decent DSM. Read this when I signed up here on tuners in 2006 and 2gnt.com.

So, thankyou guys :thumb:

Bought my first dsm (current) 95 Talon TSI, for $4800 with 50k original miles, unmolested in April of last year.

I also bought my current DSM (also a 95 TSi AWD) last year for $4800 unmolested, but it had 86k miles. I guess you got a better deal then me :(. Oh well, I'm still happy considering it was a one owner car that was babied it's whole life and hasn't given me any trouble yet (knock on wood).

My father bought his 91 Amazon blue GSX in Aug. of 1990 for 23,500. I'll be 33yrs old in Sep. I've driven it twice! He just handed me the title two days ago, and the third time I'll be driving it will be to Factory MOD in Bloomington IL. He put a whopping 5,000 mi. on it in the last ten years.:)

1999 GST....Bought mine back in January of 2008. Had 56k on the motor and paid $6500. I think i got a pretty good deal for a great stock unmolested GST, with only a Greddy Type S Bov on it, power everything and everything works great.

6100$ canadian with 150,000 kmn which is like 70k miles

Try like 93,000 miles bro

Got my 92 TSi about 2.5 years ago for $7500. I was told the motor was well built. It did have Recaro seats with 5 point harnesses, an AEM EMS, MSD ignition, some nice aftermarket wheels, a SM intake, upgraded breaks, and a huge stack of receipts. Turns out the motor and tranny weren't in that great of shape. I drove it for about 2 months before the engine imploded. Its been sitting since then. Just got the money together to get it fixed. Now it'll have a 2.3 stroker and a Shep tranny.

I paid 10, 000 for my 1995 Eagle Talon TSI with 90,000 miles on it,back in 2007. Had a few mod's done to it, but since I was new to DSM's and hadn't done my research alot of supporting mod's had been cheaply applied or weren't on the car. I been learning with a quickness proper maintenance will save you alot of heartache. :ohdamn: Was fully loaded and had many extra's far as interior and exterior. Many high end parts like Billy Boat exhaust and XXX power were installed also. Had a AEM StandAlone engine Mangement. Still in the end my car has been worth the trouble and has gave me plenty of knowledge about the car and look forward to having a more dependable car after my headgasket and head rebuild. Before the rebuild it dyno'd at 305HP and 278 TQ before it reached fuel cut because of the stock FPR.:hellyeah:

12k for the 99' GS (oz rally edition i think they call it) w 28k on the clock back in 2002. 1000 for the 94' Gs nt w/t and $800 for the 93' GSX

But here we go:

96 spyder gs auto $2500 in 2004 (flood loss)
90 gsx M/T 80k on the clock $450 in 2004 (flood loss)
91 eclipse 1.8 M/T $300 in 2004 (flood loss no insurance)
92 laser 2.0 N/A auto $200 in 2004 (flood loss no insurance)
96 Spyder GST auto $300 in 2008 (Current)
90 Tsi FWD $450 in 2008 (sold)
95 TSI AWD $300+labor in 2009 (Current)
95 Tsi FWD $50 (scraped) in 2010 (two weeks ago)
