hey guys been gone for a little but back =] thinking about purchasing a 96 rs n/t eclipse from my friend for 200$ but........ it was overheated once and leaks tons of antifreeze like 1 gallon a day, g pa says warped heads? idk where to find new heads. so i was thinking am i better off buying a rebuilt 420a and sticking a 16g turbo on it? or will a 4g63t i think thats right fit into my n/t with minimal effort? let me know what you guys think! thanks in advance

Don't touch it. Step away from the vehicle. As someone who had the car overheat from just a punctured coolant hose, you don't want to deal with an entire failing system. Just my 2 cents.

But you will do what you do. Good luck!

well even for a build car? if im doing an engine swap and starting fresh on stuff shouldnt it be okay? it ran just leaked shit tons of coolant, i mean for 200$ it sounds like a good build? or should i just forget it and find a new one?

let it be i wouldnt mess with it but you can try looking on craigslist.com in your state for used heads or just go get your head ported and polished and get other valves and stuff to make it better and not leak antifreeze or you could look for a whole new motor..your choice.. and i wouldnt reccomend putting a 4g63 motor swap into a 420a motor you have to change motor mounts and everything to make it fit so thats cuting and welding to make them in the spots to support the engine..but i wouldnt do all that work.. my opinion though .. good luck at whatever desicion you choose

man okay, im for sure glad i checked first thanks alot for the input ill have to find a new build =]

yeah i mean for 200 its a good deal if there is no rust and everything on the body and decent mileage, i mean i've gotten myself into worse case senarios then just it leaking alot of coolant. but some stuff for dsm's are not cheap and sometimes hard to come by in certain areas of which you live. but if you wanted to say forget it..buy it and just dump money into it could be a easier and cheaper fix you never know have to research out the heads and everything you need to make it run good and not dump so much coolant. but have fun with it if you get it and if not good luck finding another one

buy it and part it out and sell the rest to a scrap metal place. make a few bucks

eh ill just pass on it, ill look for another dsm =] was thinkin a vr-4? dont know much about those but awd and turbo is enough to interest me LOL

sounds good or you can still get a eclipse just get the gsx.. awd turbo... gst fwd turbo.. either or still mad nice and still a eclipse even though 3000gts are nice but have fun get whatever you like hope you enjoy :]

For $200 I would buy it, find the coolant leaks and fix them and turn around and sell it for more. Now if the coolant leaks are comming from the head gasket or there is oil in the coolant I would'nt sept away from this car, instead I would run. Look for a 1g way cooler then a 2g:)

Depends on how comfortable you are with cars. If you are a newb, then don't do it, be honest with yourself and stay away from a money pit that won't do a damn thing for you. If you are comfortable with cars, then snag it up, throw a junkyard motor in it and get it running quick to flip for a profit. 420a to 4g63 swap is not easy whatsoever for the average wrench monkey.

Do they even make swap mounts for the 4G63 into a NA 420A chassis?

No. Not that i have ever heard of. Swapping a 4G63 into a 420A car is A LOT of work, and takes a lot of metal fabrication skill to complete.

why not just put that money towards your TSi? its not too big of a job to convert that to AWD. i see it done on here all the time.

The 420A chassis is basically a Dodge Neon so it makes sense there would be no mounts to swap the 4G63 in.

Just find yourself a nice vr4, I was thinking about doing that but couldn't let the Talon go.. Too much sentimental value for me.

Good god. Do NOT get a VR-4....@___@

I own a Stealth and a VR-4.. Worst. Cars. Ever. Something is Always broken no matter the amount of upkeep. The parts are ridiculous expensive (PTU New = upwards of $250) and overall... the money you dump into them could buy you a BUILT 1G pushing upwards of 600HP.

>.< Just gonna go ahead and save ya the headache there.

Timing jobs on them? Pffffttt... Never again...
