A bigger muffler would result in a quieter exhaust. I have no experience with the model you have though, so do whatever you want and find out for yourself what you can get away with. Wouldn't think a noise citation would be very much anyway, but you'd probably just be given x-amount of days to get it changed.

I don't get how people get in trouble for loud exhausts. All turbo cars I've ever had have been a straight pipe or open downpipe. Never even had a cop even stare at my car, and this is an area where I have heard of a crapload of people getting noise tickets.

only way to know if your car is to loud is to get a db reader.

I have gotten pulled over twice in my small crappy town, all within two blocks of my house. I have a ebay exhaust and its not near as loud as my past mustangs i have owned. Yet the cops hate my car........Its really just up to the douche cops if they fell like pulling you over or not. Some cops are cool, and others just have to take out their aggression because their 600 pound wife is banging his brother and makes him hold the camera....but you will have that. Now i just try to not give it any gas when rolling by, seems to be working.

Yeah, I get sickened when I hear about the disparity of this subject. Harleys are the loudest vehicles when they remove the mufflers. I guarantee you not one ticket, ever, in the whole US has ever been issued for a Harley being too loud. i'm sure the opposite is true for sport bikes. People with muscle cars don't get one bit of shit about it, too. ONLY the imports. People argue they have to right to not have to hear that, but that makes no sense to me. I would argue about the other types of vehicles being loud as hell if I ever got pulled over for a loud exhaust, and I would probably end up going to jail because I would keep pushing and probably try to fight the cop.

i agree a little. i was pulled over one day coming out of bank of america, the exit is onto a highway. was sorta busy so i had to launch it and shift at high rps to get to speed faster. well the exit i take there was a cop and only about 100 feet from the exit of bank of america. i was at like 4.5k rpm when i went past him on 2nd gear. dident shift up because the exit is right there and it goes up hill so i would stall on 3rd. so he starts to follow me and pulls me over a little later. said my car was to loud, i said i had to shift at high rps. he then told me if my car was inspected with the exhaust. i said yea and he just went away XD.

also iv had cops follow me up my ass for awhile. one cop tryed to do a u-turn at a small intersection in order to follow me he got stuck because the crown vics are so dam big and slow, i turned a corner and blitzed it.

usually magnaflow are quieter with a good deep tone
