ROFL Dead thread revival. I decided on 18X8.5 and put 245/40R18 and they rubbed. I loved the way the 18's looked thought.

Hahaha good job LOL. reviving an old thread LOL.

I was just reading all of the comments and I think its funny how some members were saying that its ghetto to put 19"s........ they must think it is just because they don't have some :p

<<<<<<<<<19"s

to the original OP

for fitment thought process...you gain an extra 4mm of clearance by going to +38 offset. A 235 tire is 9.25 wide and 205 is 8.04 wide. Going to 235/35-19 you increase diameter by 0.4"

What you want to look at is 9.25/2 = 4.625" and 8.04/2= 4.02"
so the width increase is 0.605" towards the control arm. 0.605" is 15.38mm
and (15.38-4)mm is 11.38mm increase towards the control arm

Now its time to measure your car with the stock wheels, can you go inward 11.38mm and up 5.1mm without hitting the control arm and having a few mm clearance? :thumb:

Some sweet 2g's there. I would go with the 18's in the same style if I were you. Less chance of potholes killing your rims and tires are cheaper. Just my .02 though.

I think its a preference thing. I was rocking 18's (18x7.5) all around and a kit once upon a time ago

I loved the ride but I was looking for the more aggressive street presence look and I was always told rims and stance are the way to go, so I got a good deal from a friend of mine on some DPE R20 rims off his G35 staggered fitment and I love them. I was going for the HELLAFLUSH look but its a lot harder on a 2g then I thought but still working on it. Now I am rocking 19x8 in the front with 235/30/19 and 19x9 rear with 265/35/19. I have KYB shocks all around with a 1.3inch Tein drop all around and its ok for now until I can afford the right suspension. Here are a couple pics of the fitment.

Heres the thing you should think about. 2g's have terrible wheel wells. They are way to big. Even when you lower them, the gap between the tire and the wall in the front and back still look terrible. A smaller rim with a bigger tire covers up the gap. But when you start increasing the size of the rim and getting smaller and smaller tire, it makes the gap look bigger. Its kinda like an optical illusion.

15's with stickies = sex

19's are way ghetto on an eclipse besides the fact they weigh 50lbs a pc.

We all know that 15s are gonna mean better performance but believe it or not every DSM isn't gonna be used at the strip.
IMO 15's = Ugly (but its about being fast not good looking at the track)

18's or 19's = Pure sex. Everybody knows the drawbacks of going with a bigger rim. If you don't intend of racing it then who cares.

These were 245/40R18's... +35 Offset and rubbed in the rear on the outside on the fender. No rubbing issues in the front. My car was lowered (approx 2") on Goldline springs and stock shocks. In case anyone is wondering, the wheels were Stern ST-1's and weighed about 25lbs a piece, so they were a little on the heavy side. I found them on ebay for $500 for all 4, so I considered myself lucky. I had Bridgestone Serenities on the rear and Fuzion ZRI's on the front.

Let me know what you think. Sorry this was an iphone pic at dawn, so it is not exactly the best quality pic.

There is nothing wrong with 19's. Most people that think so are just, ehh to each his own. I personally think 19's make the car look super exotic.

I know you don't want the 16's, 17's, or 18's discussed but look at my car. This is 18X8's with 225/40/18 tires and a 1.75 inch drop on just springs and struts. If I had coilovers the fitment would obviously be much much better. If your looking for a flush fitment and a smooth ride i would suggest 18's because everyone with 19's instantly regrets it. Don't call BS on me because your only asking for trouble with 19's.

Perfection!:thumb::hellyeah::rocks::cool:

Brakes look smaller-True
18's is what many car places recommend not going over..
For an extra inch your paying a lot more...
If you want to throw 19's on it go ahead :)
To Each their Own..

+1, Thats what I think. I'll race it up on the streets but I'm not like ditching the AC and cruise and all the interior and caging it. I like the sex look. Makes the car look more exotic. I think 18's are the smallest I'd ever go but I'd always say to myself that I Want 19's like I always have. Now I do.

Not mine! :D My big brake setup limits 18's as the smallest. They are HUUUGGGGEEEE! Just need a nice purty caliper back there to show sheit off!

+1 I love my 19's. I am running 19x8.5 in the front with 225/35/19 and 19x9 in the rear with 265/35/19. I have it dropped with springs 1.7 in the front and 1.5 in the rear with the fenders rolled and its looks great to me with a little rub if I turn a corner to fast or hit a good bump in the road but nothing to serious

That 2g is so Baller! Those rims are fantastic with that color. I'm rolling 18's on my 1g and live in pot hole city. Ruff ride indeed, I couldn't imagine 19's. Unless I got them for a dirt cheap price.

Thanks man I was going for the HELLAFLUSH look but I need to get another set of tires that stretch even more and those are expensive tires so I will wait until I need another set before I attempt it again

But 19's look great on 2g IMO, almost any car will look good with the right stance :thumb: 19's to me help make that happen and I dont plan on racing anywhere

19's prob wont even fit on a 1g LOL. People have trouble with good size 17's! I had 17x8.5" on my 1g and had to use spacers. Plus 19's on a 1g would look stupid. 1g's have a smaller fender, so smaller wheels look better than larger. 17's is perfect on a 1g. 2G's on the other hand are big enough to fit 20's LOL. But I think 19's just give off that sex look. Exotic. I would never put dubs on a DSM. Only tuner style. Like mine are JDM light weight racing wheels. The ride is awesome, but I also have built suspension.

I will stand by, 18's-19's on a 2g. 17's are too damn small, 16's look like low rider wheels. But on different cars 16's are huge, like on my Civic, 16's look like 19's do on 2g's.

^@infinitegsx ya 19's would probably rub but I'd be willing to try them. Note I don't have my 1g no where low as I can set it. If I could get my exact rim or similar style in 19" I would give it a fit test. Btw I am running a rear 1" spacer too :D It pokes the rears out just enough to make them flush with the well.

Ya Jimmer I think you'll be fine with the nineteens I prefer eighteens only because they provide a little more tire for those damn potholes (i live in Cali) but like you said to each their own I say go for it!
