i have a evo3big16g, i decided to go with an ebay intercooler and what i was wondering is which would work with the upgraded turbo as far as bolting up to it? i know its an upgrade but its a tdo5 so im assuming what would blt onto a stock turbo would bolt onto the evo? here are the two im looking at, which would be the best also? i know opinions may vary just looking to see what is out there.:hellyeah:

95-99 Eclipse Talon 2G 4G63 Intercooler Piping Kit +BOV: eBay Motors (item 190332735688 end time Jul-29-10 23:34:04 PDT)

The first kit is the old SSAC (SSautochrome) kit that have been used on these cars for quite a while, however from the pics it does not seem to come with a J pipe. You can find everything about this kit in this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...alk-ebay-fmic-especially-if-you-have-one.html There is also a supporting vendor on here that sells these kits but they are more pricey and I believe they either fit better, have black couplers and a little better quality. Here's the link:http://vr-speed.com/store/vrsf-front-mount-intercooler-eclipse-talon-turbo-p-348.html

The second kit is the ETDmotors kit (which I think is the same company as CXRacing). This kit is very similar to the PR Racing/CXRacing kit but is missing the mounting bar. The pipes are also slightly different from the PR/CXRacing kit. It does include the J pipe which is needed for the 16g turbo install though. The missing mounting bar can be purchased either on Ebay from this link here: Alum Intercooler Bracket Mounting bar 95-99 Eclipse 2G: eBay Motors (item 260629975854 end time Aug-02-10 14:05:40 PDT) (overpriced in my opinion). You can just purchase a flat bar locally from a hardware store, slightly bend it then bore holes on the ends (a few people have done this). The bar mounts on top of the crash bar supports/brackets. Everything you need to know is in this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/320495-punishment-racing-fmic-2g.html

My pick is for the PR kit (which is not the same as the one in the link above but very similar). The PR/CXRacing kits can be found here but they are more expensive:

thanks boosted i really appreciate all the help i will look into this!

why do i need a jpipe for this intercooler kit? im thinking a jpipe came with my turbo when it was put on and doesnt it just fit onto my turbo to begin with? im a little unsure as to what i need the jpipe for because im wondering if i already have one on my turbo...might sound a bit crazy but m just a little confused

EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Extreme PSI 16G Install Kit V2: Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99

thats the kit i had to buy for my e316g turbo which came with a jpipe, is that not all id need or is the pipe completely different fo the ssac kit?

also does this kit have eerything id need to bolt up to my turbo? i just found it and the piping looked different, id really like to get one that had mounting places instead of having to make one thats why im looking around.

I think I missed where you said the 16g was installed already. Yea then you just need to make sure that your J pipe will work with that kit. If it's routed to your smic then you might need a "FMIC" type J pipe that doesn't face the passenger side.

Another case of people trying to upgrade these cars before they really know whats going on with them. There are threatds all of the place for these things and how to install them. With that out of the way, the punishment kit has my vote. They are very simple to put in and come with everything you'll need for the job.

well guys i went today and ordered the crxracing set up that everyone suggested, i should get it next week and ill try to get it on and get some pictures and feedback up! thanks for the help guys!

I'd just like to comment on the CXRacing pipes.. out of all the ebay kits i've had customer bring by, the CX stuff is the best pipe by far for having a decent and consistant wall thickness making it very nice stuff to cut and weld should you have to... I exclusively use their pipes for custom front mount jobs and have for the ;ast 2 years (cheaper than vibrant and jujst as good of quality)

yea ive gotten alot of good feedback on the cxracing product so i figured id give it a shot, ive been ridin around with stock intercooler and leaky piping for a yr with my E3B16g figured id get it running properly since its been too long...

Hey I went with the PR intercooler it was very highly recommended on all the forums. I just got it sunday so have not put it on yet looks great and comes with the J-pipe. I did buy all new coupler from vibrant did not love the quality but not bad.

well guys i just finished putting the intercooler on and let me tell you it was a B****, the piping was not as it showed in the picture that i ordered but my buddies and i cut some pipes and made it a custom job, we went and bought a bar and fabbed it to be the support, all in all it worked out great and feels alot better but i sure wish the kit was just like what i was looking at online, the piping was different...from the throttle body down it was supposed to be in 3 seperate pieces instead it was the throttle body elbow then one whole entire piece until you go to put it in with the intercooler and the pipe coming off it...it was a pain...will get some pictures up here in the next day or so...
