Ok so the mosquitoes are killing me, and i would like to move my car to the front of the house. I installed the trans case, but the drievshaft is still sitting on a brick. I mean I could drop the case and install shaft, but its hard when its down where it is. If I hang the shaft up, and put in nutural, can it be pulled about 50 feet without harm? Im automatic

thanks tuners

As long as the drive shaft is not connected, you should be able to pull it a little bit. What kills AWDs when you are trying to tow it is pulling by the front tires and letting the rears roll. The Center diff doesn't like it too much. But if It's not connected, it should be fine. Just hold it up with some bungie cords and such and GO SLOW and watch the car as you move it.

:)

its only disconnected where it slides into the tans case. Can I install the shaft without dropping the case again? That shit is heavy and hard to do by yourself.

Yep. Just disconect every thing from the hub (knuckles) except the top bolt that goes up into the inner side of the wheel arch. Then you can swing the hubs out and away from the diff just enough to slot the axles back into the diff :thumb:

As long as you support the drive shaft in a way that allows it to turn and not jam into the body when it rotates you'll be ok to pull it. Even though the TC is heavy it might be easier to drop it and reattach the DS. You can disconnect the DS from the rear diff as well but if it's all rusted the TC route may still be easier.

As long as the driveshaft is not inserted into the tcase and can spin freely and wont get stuck in the ground your good to go. I towed a car over 8 hours with the driveshaft out of it and my lsd rear is still in great shape, I'm sure you'll be ok to move a few feet.
