first it has a tough time getting started and gives out a LOUD squeek before it fires up, and if i rev too high it dies...

help!

Here's a dumb question... Do you have a CEL on? If you do, get that thing checked. I had a spark plug wire go out, and the car ran like shit! After about 10 minutes of letting it idle and trying to diagnose the problem, the CEL came on (THANK GOD!!!).

I saw a 1g NA the other day with a rod knock... it was LOUD!!! So loud that the owner of the car (standing 2 ft. away from me) couldn't hear me yelling for him to shut the car off. If yours isn't as loud as a WOT Harley, then I doubt it's rod knock.

+1 on the compression test.
+1000 on not driving it until you get it fixed.

Well I haven't drivin the car in nearly 2 years... It's always had issues I'm just finally starting to deal with them... I ordered a boost leak tester and I'm going to replace all the clamps and couplers with cilicone and t bolt clamps just to make sure I'm not getting any leaks there, im sure I have a major boost leak somewhere, I even think one or more of the hoses are misrouted. Anyone have a picture/diagram of what hoses go where?

Well I was double checking some of the clamps and hoses, I checked out the coolant overflow tank and all the coolant was abit dark so I decided to empty it and discovered a nasty muck at the bottom. It looked like pudding!!

Just want to let you know, i got my lifters in. Took about 45min to an hour to install, primed them, pumped them of course at first with a paper clip. It took some of the tick away but im still getting a decently bad tick from where idk, it sounds more top end. I have great compression accross all 4(170) so im stumped now, car runs great though besides of a major boost leak i have and i do mean major LOL. But have new bov coming in and ill post some more results once done. :)

Still got the tick?! Even with the new lifters? Man, I know I got a boost leak but I just can't find it, i just ordered a new set of silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps for the entire intercooler system and hope it goes away.. Oh btw what kind of intake do you have?

Interesting thread. I also have this tick sound, but mine is mostly when cold, goes away when warmed up 9or mostly). Is this Lifter tick too? Should I go stock or aftermarket? I hope i am not hijacking this thread.

I keep hearing that my oil gauge not moving is a scary thing, what should I Check? Should I get an aftermarket oil gauge?

Be carefull, check your oil pump flow.
if there´s no oil, the lifters will scream like hell hehehe
and you can damage your engine.

any news, let us know

From the noise i think its the belt

I had the oil change at the shop where I got my turbo and o2 ported, maye they didnt put in the right oil causing the tick? they never made a note of what oil they used, I checked the oil and its full and clean.

how do I check the oil flow on my eclipse?

listen, it might be your timing skipped a tooth, because when you start it i notice the squeal and that means theres alot of tension on the belt due to incorrect positioning, now when you rev it and shuts off its because its timed wrong and the valves hit your pistons and shut off, hopefully im wrong.....

Im telling you man just follow the directions I gave you on the first page and your problem will be fixed.

You have a serpentine belt that is a bit loose or worn that is where the squeak comes from, there are only two I'm sure you can find it. Don't be worried about the tick, its called lifter tick to get this to go away you need to buy the revised 3g lifters, they are about $100 (search the forums for this.). When you rev high the idle doesn't seem to catch, this is because of a boost leak, I would recommend just tightening the clamps on all of your intercooler piping and see if it helps otherwise just make a home depot boost leak tester (search the forums for this also). These are all problems that are very easy to fix all you need to do is search the things I just pointed out and your car will be running perfect in no time.

I can't find a boost leak anywhere, although I haven't done a boost leak test yet, I just went ahead and ordered new tbolt clamps for the intercooler.

I plan on buying the lifters next week when I get paid, I'm just to broke right now.

As far as the belts go, I'm going to replace my ac ps belt and redo the timing belt... But idk what todo about the oil pump

Went I took of the timing belt cover I pushed down on the belt and there was abit if give... I could wiggle it left to right but not move it off the gears.. Could this be evidence of incorrect positioning?

Have you guys ever thought about checking exhaust for ticks? Start your car and look at the down pipe for any leaks in the down-pipe. Even though you got the 3g revised lifters this might be the problem. The medium sized hole in your downpipes could cause a "ticking noise". I know i encountered the same problem and it was ticking like hell.
it might not be your problem but check it outt :rocks::rocks:
A slight ticking noise at the start up of your car is just oil pressure feeding through the lifters.

So doing that is going to fix his oil pressure gauge not working properly? LOL
Not saying its bad info that you gave but its the same info everyone else has gave also and he's doing it.

Uhhhh, obviously he didn't mention this problem when I posted on the first page, just get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge the stock one is crap anyways.

Good job though dsmnoob and check partsdinosaur for the lifters, I bought mine through them and they were the cheapest I could find and i've had them installed for about 20,000 miles without any complaints.
