i am about to begin a (for the most part) ground up 2g awd build, with a 6 bolt motor...

im looking to get the best performance yet, still be able to daily drive it...

heres the story... my cousin owns a 2010 2SS camaro, that is supercharged, and sits at about 520whp, he stopped over the other day and just kept busting me on my car, and what im planning on doing...

hes never taken it to the strip, and ive only been to the strip once or twice, so the bet stands that i cant make my talon faster than his car, and still daily driveable, so im looking to get your guys opinions about this, and also throw some ideas of how you would go about this build... ive built a few cars before, but this is my first DSM full build.

THANKS! cant wait to hear what you guys have to say!:hellyeah:

I love the feeling when a big hard ass pulls up in the muscle. I usually just smile and blow him/her out of the water. Unfortunately i live in a farm county so i'm the only legit dsm, oh well gives me a lot of pride.

Eh who cares, you can build almost any car to beat any other car but is it worth it? I don't take my ZO6 to the track because there's no need to prove anything because the car is already badass the way it sits and it doesn't need to run some crazy numbers at the track just so people don't think it's just an old piece of junk. Sure my gsx back in the day ran a faster 1/4 mile than the ZO6 could, but seriously which car is more pimp and why risk damaging a nice car?

Truf! However even a 1st Gen Z06 is way more badass than the best of new Camaros...ugly ass overweight retro designed by some kid too into hotwheels or something -not actually designed to compete with anything else but the (even chubbier) Charger AND TINY ON THE INSIDE HOW??. Halo cars those things (Halo's for WHAT, though?). If they designed em closer to the Pony Car or even a Genesis theyd actually get worthhile sales. My point is the muscle car girth and lack of handling shoulhave stayed dead in the 70's, this is the 21st century and now the Big 3 are competing for affinity against WRX's, EVO's soon to be FT-86's and the like whether they want to admit it or not. Say what you will about who these new muscle cars are really for but the truth is those segmenting tactics are sooo 20 years ago and what got them all nearly bankrupt in the first place. Of course people who buy the new ones are generally people who had older models(them f bodys sold great) or always wanted one or whatever so who cares what I say.

EDIT: I did a marketing sales case study on the Viper years back and its what saved Chrysler from their first bankruptcy scare. That and the minivan. Anyway that was a proper Halo car that competed (and still does) with cars 2x its price. Iococca strikes again! The ones who bi*** about it are the ones who want cupholders and dont know what to do with the 500hp- a real driver's car. Did you know that engine was developed with the help of Lamborghini when they still kinda owned em? :EDIT

Frankly almost any clown can work over an LS engine and whatever chassis it comes in an clean up at a drag strip

A Z06 is designed for road roacing and those 1st Gens still clean up at their respective events. Awesome value. A New Camaro in comparison still has to be tube framed to compete with those and Older new gen mustangs an still have tons of teething problems. People have turned Z06's into drag cars but I says its a waste of money, waste of good engine characteristics an waste of a good chassis.

My 16G has taken 2 Z06's from a dig (until they catch up 150 ft later haha), sure as hell can't handle or brake better than them, or have nearly as much fun on a road course unless I got some muellerized coilovers, gutted my interior and got bigass brakes then reinforced the chassis maybe...n got a bigger turbo.

Anyway I says call him out on backing out. Better yet do it on his own forum.

I agree that you believe GM screwed up on the Camaro and Dodge on the Charger. Way to heavy, yes they are Muscle Cars that are known for brute power and lofty curb weights but, 4xxx some odd lbs? Give me a break! Ford has done a good job in keeoping with the Mustang heritage and staying up to date. The biggest mistake in my opinion that Daimler-Chrysler did was turn the Eclipse into that thing it is today. They are so far off their roots. It is like the Mustang II was to was to the rest of the Mustangs.

Like I said before, the new Camaros have gobs of power but, needs to go on one intense diet. The new Mustang are going to destroy even the SS. And wait until the aftermarket embraces the Genesis. I say it will be a rebirth of the Starion albiet under a Hyundai nameplate. Why is there no Daimler Chrysler RWD platform with that motor? Or even a 2door version with AWD? Why is it that GM is attacking the tuner scene with the Cobalt SS, Honda with the Civic SI yet, everyone else is getting out? Hell, even Ford has rumors swirling about a detuned SHO motor in an AWD Fusion.

That would be badass the SHO motor in a fusion?

Before that last post I woke up grumpy and chugged a big ol bottle of Hatorade, so maybe they deserve more credit than I give them because the last thing I expect to see in my hippie town are Camaros and Chargers amongs the Prius's, Volvo's and Subaru wagons and yet I see a ton of em. So people like em and its probly a good value. I'm just pissed they aren't as good as I think they could be. Sooo kick that Camaro's ass already

Yeah, word on the street is that Ford wants a competitor to the EVO and WRX. So, rumors are that they are going to use the Fusion with AWD a 6sp and a detuned version of the SHO motor.

they should have built an RS version of the euro focus, in awd and dropped it in america...

street legal rally focus

I personally don't care what anyone else does with their cars, but I would take any performance oriented car I owned to the track, no matter how valuable it is. In my mind if the car can't be driven the way it's intended, it's not worth owning.

As far as your cousin goes, why would he spend all that money on that supercharger if he doesn't even want to utilize it?

Lol what exactly defines that?

why would ford detune an engine?
The second I saw their new twin turbo V6 for the 4500lb+ 4door car i was thinking, wow this is the end of the evo!

The reason that they would detune the motor is to not be deemed a SHO competitor. Manufacturers do it all the time. And besides, it is a rumor. It could be just as powerful, more powerful, or not even happen. Logically you could make the arguement that people who want to buy a Fusion that competes with an EVO or WRX would not buy a SHO. But, people in marketing do not thing that way. Nissan never brought the SR20DET in the 240sx because they did not want it to compete with the Z. Ford has stayed away from the Tuner market so as to keep sales of the Mustang up. Mazda slightly detuned the Speed 3 motor from the Speed 6. All we can do is wait.

i get tired of people bashing cars just they dont like um yes i drive a DSM right now but i have owned a all motor rsx and i had a 16g wrx. and i have alot of buddys with sick cars its just. all driver, and know what ## doing anyone can buy parts but finding ones that work with each other is key. i mean ik a guy with a 375hp GSR gutted that can stay with my buddys cobra with around mid 400's traction pending ima car guy not a 1 car guy:p

so am i, im an all around car guy, its just i get annoyed when i come across people who are totally bias and dont consider any other car being as good as theres, thats all this is really about... im currently daily driving a 240sx with an SR20DET motor swap, and i love it to death, yet i am still building and working on all other kinds of vehicles.

There are some cars that I would never own because of my dislike for them. Good example is the Camaro. I hate the Camaros but, at the same time I understand that as a Mustang Guy we need each other to fuel competition. My future garage (actaully I want to convert a barn to a garage) I hope will look like this:

02 Mustang GT - current
96 GST- current
Subaru 2.5RS Impreza coupe with WRX motor
S14 240SX with SR20DET
EVO 9
90-93 Fox Body Coupe 427ci Twin Turbo
2011 Mustang GT w/Kenne Bell SC
67 Mustang Fastback
early 50s Ford F100 with Lightning Motor Swap
92.5 DSM AWD 5sp
Replica AC Shelby Cobra
03-04 Cobra

yea i agree with you like how you said about nissan, the reason the eclipse are garbage now is because they dont want it to compete against the lancer evolution now, thats why they stop making turbo models for the eclipse because they knew they were gonna kill the market with the evo,

So far I have the top two cars. It is nice to go out and mess with them on the weekends. Once I finish my next degree, I hope to get some more vehicles to play with. My builds plans aresuch for the two I have now:

96 GST (currently just CAI) future: T28,built tranny, Eibach Suspension 264 cams, Thermal Exhaust, and a good restoration/cleaning, nothing wild since it is FWD

02 Mustang GT: (current CAI, UDP, Catback, Short Throw, SCT X3, 75MM TB, Plenum, Eibach Pro +, Swarr Barr, 3.55, Cobra LSD) future: Teksid Block stroked to 5.0; 04 Cobra Heads, Comp Cams, T56 Magnum 6sp, 3.73, Detroit True Tac LSD, BBK LT, BBK HPipe, Flowmaster Super 44s, P51 Intake, 31 Spline Hardened Axles

The best part about it all is the fact that my fiancee is into cars. I was going to buy a bike but, she gets worried because of the dangers. So, she said I could have as many cars as I want as long as I do not buy a bike. Works for me. Bikes are too easy to go fast on. I want some cars that will give bikes a run for their money.

My buddy who has a 1G AWD and myself have come up with a formula. Flames=25hp, each racing decal=5hp, big chrome rims=15, triple stacked wing=10, chrome tailights=10, chrome fake body parts=5, a "R" added on to your vehicle model trim is 20, for every 20 ft of LED its 10hp, if your muffler has more cubic inches than your motor that is 50hp.

The GST, I do plan on a 2GB front and rear bumper swap but, I am going to be wingless. The Mustang, I plan on getting the 03-04 Cobra Rear bumper filling in the Cobra, getting just a little lip spoiler like that Cobras or the Xenon, and maybe a Roush front Bumper. Not a big Body Kit person. Most in my mind are too crazy. There are some good ones out there, just way more Fast and Furious wanna bes.

My Dream Garage actually includes a CRX or early civic with a non-vtec G23 frankenstein all tiny n pissed off (with a "vtec sucks" bumper sticker)...I mean among other things but thats the only fwd car I'd ever realistically consider building.

Well since this has kind of strayed off topic, I just thought I'd ask. Is there any chance your cousin is gonna grow some balls and stick to the bet, and if not are you still going to finish the build?

Yea back on topic BC cams are cheap and i think they are pretty good hks and kelford are good, Jun cams are really good but really expensive, but im not sure if the make them for dsms or just evos. There's a guy on here thats comparing different cams in another thread its really useful and interesting!

I would post a link but im not too sure how to..so if anyone know the thread im talking about fell free haha

Dude, honestly you will kick his ass so damn hard he will think he was butt raped.

Those big engines every dude swears he can beat you with, are just cover-up for small peckers.. Haha. :hellyeah:

EXXXACTLY.

Dude, look up on top bar(where the search button is, etc) and look up tech articles. Tells you everything you need to know. And when you eat his pansy little camaro alive, and he's crying about it, insult him more by saying you built your car from the ground up to destroy his. And ask him if he knows how to fix his.
Then when all is said and done...go tell him to trade it in on a hybrid. Fits his pecker better ROFLROFLROFL

i dont know if he is going to stick to it, i want to finish the build, its just pricey, and im busy fixing my friends broken DSM's, so its just all time, plus i just got my 240 on the road, and thats time consuming
