So long story short, life situation has changed and I needed a bigger car so the wife and I head over to the local dodge dealer here in vegas. We make a deal with them on a 03 explorer, we give them 500 dollars cash for a down payment and the title for the eclipse as a trade in. We sign all the contracts and legal bullcrap, as were getting ready to take delivery the manager comes over and tells us we cant take the truck home that day (3 days ago) and that we'd have to wait for final approval from the bank (I have a credit score of 720 and was already pre approved!) I can't get any straight answers, can't get people to return my calls, they won't answer unless I call from a BLOCKED number, they say they can not return my money or title until monday! Does this sound a little fishy here or is it just me??? Personaly I feel like something here is not quite right. I could be over reacting but who knows. What do yall think?????

Just wait it out, if there's a credit issue then they are holding to to protect themselves and keep you locked in the deal. My friend had a similar situation where his score was good but history wasn't enough and he bought the car late in the day when the banks were closed. The dealer assumed he would get approved and completed the deal. The dealer took the car back a week later due to not getting approval. Maybe they are just trying to avoid that.

Same thing happened with my estranged ex-wife... she bought (tried to buy) a scion tc.. while i was deployed. She wrote a check on my account for 1500. The bank verified the check and the guy cave her the keys and took her car as a trade in. i found out called the bank froze my account and long story short she had to turn the car in when to jail for fraudulent checks. and never got her old car back!! :)

Back in 2000 I went to the mitsu dealer to get a 99 eclipse, traded in my mazda with 2000 worth of system in it, did all the paperwork, made it clear I wanted my system, they said come back and get it monday (this was friday), After 20 mins of bickering I take the eclipse and leave, monday morning I show up and find that not only did they steal all the equipment, they took the wiring which I ran under the carpet. Now there was no sign of forced entry, car was exactly where I left it, and I locked it compulsively, I know it was locked. I was ready to kill, then the manager has the nerve to sit there and tell me how they make alot of money selling stereo equipment that people leave in their cars. Then they told me I needed more down payment, and offered me a check for 150 for the system that was only valid towards the down payment. I said add another zero. I took off in the eclipse drained the oil and water, brought it back knocking, tried pressing charges but the dealership changed owners that week so I got ####ed.

Moral of the story dealerships are there to make money they will rob you blind.

Local Dealership (dodge also) was on the news for pulling a huge heist. People that traded in their vehicles ended up getting collections calls for their traded in cars because the dealership didn't pay off their loan when they started the loan for the new vehicle and a b unch of other crap. Thats why I'll Never buy from a dealership.
