mods : stock for the most part but a couple "free mods" ( k&n filter - hacked can - and the tiny insert to the boost soloniod removed ) - act 2100 - fidanza flywheel

plagued by previous owner and my self "random" fuel cut (i believe to be)and no starts.
some symptoms i am experiencing are : while car is running a rapid violent shut off and restart and sometimes will stall. accompanied with this is a click or clicking from the passenger side floor board area "relay" i believe. also i notice not only a rapid drop from the tach but also the factory boost guage when its happenening sometimes a check engine light will briefly stay on but then goes away. ive also have had this happen with the engine not running" the clicking and the factory boost guage going nuts with the key turned on but not started."
sorry in advance for the poor video "camera phone" car is not running in video just the key put to on position

i know the car wont start for me when i turn the key to the on position and dont see the factory boost gauge pop up to 0 "middle."

the previous owner had replaced some parts thinking that they were the problem and them being : tps , crank angle sensor ,and that relay that does the clicking when the problem happens "i think is for fuel pump?"

i had a friend of mine stop by with code reader for my car with the mmc adapter and no codes were found relating to the problem just a code for speed sensor wich i believe to be related to the speed cable not being plugged into the tranny after the resent clutch install i did, the cable is now installed. we looked into some stuff to find where this could be coming from with no success, car running and car off. but the symptoms were not present at the time we were doing this. we are still new to the code reader but pretty much now how to use it.
the problem has existed for a lil over a year now that ive owned it and doesnt do this all the time.but is doing it alot more now and no other symptoms are present car runs exellent when the problem isnt happening
should there be any known grounds to check ?

any help is greatly apreciated and thanx in advance for any advise -Dru-

Sounds like your Ecu. Pull it out and see if your caps. have leaked. If you have access to a known good ecu try plugging that one in and see how it runs.

i dont have any acces to an ecu at this time. ill will search. does this ecu have to match mine completly? ie: cruise control ,abs ,ac ,awd, turbo?

doesnt look like im going to have any access to a spare ecu . any other suggestions while im still searching how to remove ecu. any wisemen wanna chime in ?

The Ecu is behind the stereo 4 bolts to remove it. I dont think you have to pull the stereo to get to it I,m not sure. I dont have a stereo so mine is cake to get out. The ecu has to be from a '91-'94 Turbo car. When you get it out and take the cover off if you smell something like fish eggs your caps have leaked.

A 90 Ecu will work in his car as long as you swap the 2 pins that are different. Its the 91+ ecu that don't work in 90 cars without some kind of Tach Adapter. As far as the Op's Q any turbo 90-94 ecu will work. although you should try To get one that's from Auto / 5spd To match since they have slightly different size injectors.

finally got ahold of an extra ecu and the runs great no cut out and no "no starts" :hellyeah: thanx for your help . opened the old ecu to see that one of the vertical boards was corroded . didnt even cross my mind to think it could be this. but after reading up on this ive found that the caps on the boards are prone to leak acid onto it. how do i mark this post resolved?
