If somebody gave you all the money you need to stroke your current 2.0 liter engine to a 2.3, would you do it, or keep it as a 2.0 liter? You can only use the money to stroke it, nothing else.

i would probably pass on that 1 dosent seem worth the time to do it

This is a silly question... Why is anyone giving you money, unless they're trying to get into your pants? Even then, why are they stipulating which engine mods you are allowed to perform?

All things being equal, plan for a stoker-build after you've installed a 3+" exhaust, upgraded your fuel system and intake, and then stumbled into a 100 mm crank for cheap while you were accumulating parts for a full rebuild.

I'm not trying to be a douche-nozzle, I just figure, if you have a boosted DSM that runs at all, you're already fastrer than 3/4 of the cars out there. Enjoy, and take care of your ride. It's hard enough to pay for insurance, gas, and parts. Why waste money on go-fast crap that's just gonna cost you more money later?

You, sir, are bench-racing!

You can only use the money to stroke it, nothing else.

Need I say more?

^^^^ ROFL the last comment made me lulz irl.

Now, as for the stroker kit... I'm caught up in the middle. For AWD its alright, but for FWD cars which tend to rev to hell and back on launch it wouldn't be good at all. Just one of those things that make our already temperamental engine just a bit more bitchy. Spooling up quicker is nice and all, but the possibility of doing extensive engine damage while doing so is something that most of us wont go for, specially those who have spent so much time and money on their cars that they might as well marry it.

What is that damned quote....Uhm...OH

"Drive it like you hate it, Work on it like you married it."

:notgood:

Bench racing is giving a list of parts, asking for an estimate on power or 1/4 mile times. I already know Im going to stroke it so it's not like im asking if it's worth it or not. I wanted to see how many people would do it.

Dont think too much about why there giving you the money because if somebody randomly gave you the money (legit money) to do it and you wanted to stroke it, you would do it.

A stroker motor gives you faster spool up but decreases you ability to rev higher. a 2.0 gives you a higher rev but slower spool. so you decide.

I already know I want to do it,

Im asking if YOU would do it.....

To make it easier, you will get a free rental car while your car is being worked on in the shop.

Yeah, we all pretty much know you want to stroke it. I mean, by all means, stroke it, we don't have anything against it.

BUT you made a thread and people will give their input on it LOL. Its not going to be "No, I wont" or "Yes, I will" there will be input on the benefits and perils of doing anything to your engine... This is a DSM forum after all.

stroking it is kind of pointless unless someone else is going to give me the money to do the rest of the upgrades needed to take advantage of such a bargain. :sneaky:

IMO,

To run a 30R or smaller, 2.0

35R or larger on the street, 2.3

I'm running a 2.3 stroker in mine and (for the 3 days it ran before the head blew) it was nice, especially since the car is running a 16g until the 50 trim goes on. Boost is almost instant, the slightly different sound is great, and the noticeable low end power is awesome.
