I have been battling this problem of running rich, having poor gas mileage, and having little power.

I first got the car with a blown t25 (smoked like crazy). It was driven like that for a week or 2.

I put a big 16g on and other mods and started out with around 10 mpg. Since then I have managed to get my mpgs up to about 16/17 (its hard to tell my fuel gauge SUCKS) by doing the following:

New O2 Sensor
Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs .028 bpr6es
Wires
Air Filter
All new Vaccum lines
Just put in Redline fuel system cleaner on this tank but it doesn't seem to do anything

My Vac sits at 19 while in drive, but my car smells bad (no black smoke though).

So what else could it be? I'm using regular 10w-30 oil if that makes a difference. I plan on switching to mobile 1 next oil change.

Thanks and sorry for the long post!

EDIT:

I Just thought: could my Cat be clogged? That would put more restriction in the exhaust and reduce mpgs? What do you more experienced dsmrs think?

Are you 100% sure it is running on all four cylinders? If not go through and pull plug wires 1 at a time while its running.....If you unplug one and it doesnt change how its running you have a bad coil(99% of the time will kill 2 cylinders seeing how 1+4 are on one coil and 2+3 on the other) or injector etc. just an idea.

I just pulled each plug wire 1 at a time and the idle dropped 100 or so with each wire. They all had spark as well so that is ok.

Thanks for the suggestion, any others?

you've got a 95 so its eprom right?
why don't you find someone who has dsm link and tune your car for you
you've got awd plus its turbo'd i wouldn't really expect you to get good mpg's
i do pizza deliveries with my car and my talon drinks 91

ok, you think that's what it comes down to? I just ordered a boost controller, so i guess i should set that and then find someone who could tune for me. I would need my eprom socketed first before i could have my car tuned right? Or is there another way i could have it tuned?

Thanks

yeah get it socketed
do you have a boost gauge?
if worst comes to worst and you can't find someone to do your eprom tunes you can always just pick up an safc and mess with your air fuel

I would either get a dsmchip or safc. Or if you really want to get the real deal, dsmlink or Aem ems.

I have a boost gauge

I think i would want the ability to control the tune so i wouldn't want dsmchip (incase i upgraded injectors or something)

How far can an safc take me? If i understand correctly it just controls how much fuel is delivered right? Does anyone have a link to info on some options?

Thanks.

I'm not completely sure but i dont think the SAFC can go past about 720cc injectors very well. And safc is super airflow converter.

would i need a wideband and logger if i were to pick up a safc?

i feel your pain. im getting about 10-15 mpg. and i'm running ridicuously rich with my boost leak (idk sounds like its near my throttle body)

as for your situation, since you replaced mostly every mpg-affecting thing (check maybe your mass air flow sensor), i couldn't tell you.

just save the money and find someone with dsmlink
an safc is a waste of money if you can find someone who can tune your car right

ok, i'll keep an eye out and post something in the philly forums, thanks everybody!

^true, But if you do go safc you will need a logger and you should have a wideband no matter what.
