Just joined the forum yesterday. Recommendation from a friend. Owned my 2nd Gen DSM since 2003. Never belonged to a club or anything like that. Last summer decided to go all out. Currently car is in the shop getting body work and interior redone. should be done soon...been in shop for 6 months. just started working on engine so any recommendations on what I should do would be helpful.

Current Body - Custom Paint Job Murdered out Charcoal Grey.
Carbon Fiber Trunk, Front Bumper, Hood, Window Cowl, Fenders,
Doors, Door Inserts, Headliner, Rear Speaker panels, A pillers,

I think I have more carbon fiber but dont recall right now. all of it is real carbon fiber not a wrap just covering the body.

Tein Flex Coil-overs with Enkei LS-5 18' x 8 wrapped with toyo proxies T1Rs,

Engine - Just bought a 6 bolt Long block. JS1 block 1G 4g63 .20 over. Knife Edged Crankshaft. O-Ring Block Deck. Groden Aluminum Rods w/ ARP bolts . Wiseco Forged Pistons and Rings. caped oil squirters. Machined mains (for rod clearance) . Balance shafts eliminated. ARP Main Studs Head portmatched . Titanium retainers. Dual valve springs . 3g oversized lifters. bronze valve guides. 1mm oversized valves. 5 angle valve job. new seals . cometic head gasket . and ARP head studs.

Engine is on a engine stand in my garage while car is getting worked on. So engine bay is completely gutted. This is why I joined the site to get recommendations on what I should do next for parts. Shooting for 700+ Hp.

Transmission FWD works but is old might send it the sheppard trans unless I can find a AWD.

Name is Death_Carbon after the show Metalocalypse and all the Carbon fiber on my car. Shooting for 700+ Hp show car. located down in SoCal.

That's ####ing insane dude; Welcome to the site I will be watching your build for sure.

Welcome man. The car I'm sure is going to be pretty light with all that CF.

Not trying to tell you what to do by any means but you should definately keep it fwd.......everyone and there freaking dog has a fast awd dsm......not so many fwd. Within the next year and a half I'm going for 800-1000whp, got my motor tore down to a bare block a couple nights ago and I just gotta start ordering parts and take my time building it.....I just got done doing the fwd swap in my car from awd for the reason I stated earlier......I love the carbon out the ass on your 2g looks great dude keep up the good work and I'll keep an eye on your build!!

why not go awd? there are not really that many fast awd cars out there.

also do you want to put added money into suspension (like drag bags) to hook up with a fwd vehicle?

DSM's are narly for their launches. I would hate to be at a stop light and sit there and roast the front tires off and not go anywhere, as opposed to launching with awd and smoking all four tires.

FWD and 800-1000whp? have you ever tried flooring it on Ice with a FWD turbo DSM?

because that's how your car will react with that much power on the front wheels. and that's if your transaxles don't snap first.

welcome to tuners and nice build so far. keep posting the pictures of ## progress

i love the build and the ideas, but im honestly not feeling the body kit. i think it would look so much better without it but thats just me and i dont know how good it will hold up flying around with 700+ hp..

Agreed

yo dustin you forgot to mention the gucci interior to make the girls wet...LOL... ive seen this car the pic's dont do it justice. an the engine shouldint be driven on the streets of california. stay fwd so you could spank the ferrari's in the highway.

please use Proper ENGLISH, spelling, and punctuation. It would be greatly appreciated to all of us trying to read posts on the forums.

Any ways, If it's FWD go ahead and leave it unless you really want to do a AWD conversion; if your AWD tho and thinking about a FWD conversion, then please just don't. If you want your car to be fast then keep the AWD. FWD can still be fast, But you'll have traction issues on the street like no ones business.

Just went yesterday to check up on my eclipse. The body shop was moving it into the garage and the rear bumper snagged a corner causing paint damage and misalignment of bumper.:notgood:

extremeatheist; I'll post the weight of the car when the project is completely finish. Right now I would say that I've easily knocked off 500 lbs. The hatch is so light that using the old hatch struts that probably came with the car when it was new, that when I lift the hatch release, the hatch opens all the way.

Rock1t; I don't really plan on dragging the car. I might do a pass or two to see what it can do. but i would rather run a timed track or smoke a STI or EVO on the highway.

Steve91, BlackMount; Most of the body parts that are carbon fiber, are molds of the OEM parts with the exception of the front bumper, side skirt, and rear bumper. I don't expect it to come off, but will take it slow for awhile to see. Plus I have to break in the engine anyway. As for the carbon fiber look on most of the car I have wondered about that myself. I'm going to wait until the car is fully built to make my final decision.

The car is badass looking IMO:hellyeah: All that CF is absolutely sick:D Please watch what you say about spanking people on the highway though:notgood: We don't encourage any kind of street racing so please keep it out of the conversation from now on.;)

Carbon Fiber Fetish much? LOL./. It looks good, and expensive!

Thats a amazing build i will be following this build to the end keep it up.

The 2gb Talon front bumper is pretty agressive and there won't be flak from purists on the site :thumb: Overall pretty good. Too much shine IMO especially on the inside. If you want a true working body, PM GixxerDrew.

What do you plan with motor in the long term? Is it DD or track only?

The Al rods aren't really meant for DD since they stretch out easily and need to be kept up on check ups for stretch. Same for the knife edged crank. I've READ that people have problems with lightened because the rotational mass isn't enough to keep the engine going on it's own which makes that more a of a track item as well.

What turbo are you going to be using? Fuel and meth injection?

Sure you can go for your goal of 800hp FWD but good luck driving it unless it's a track car because even slicks you would be spinning. Even more so with no weight on the tires BECAUSE of the massive weight loss you did. If yo stick with FWD you'll need to get a true LSD put in the tranny and solid motor mounts. Wheel hop will break your axles and possibly some other stuff with that much power/torque.

Lastly, just pray you don't get in a car accident espically on the side. You took out a safty section in your doors for light weight non protecting CF.

Overall I'm just building the car for fun. I would like to put it in car shows but will see. As for what I plan on doing exactly to the engine that changes constantly. I was in search for a old used 6 bolt and was going to take it to a machine shop to get it hot tanked and bored so I could assembled it myself but this engine went up on sell on Craigslist for $3000 so I bought it. It came with the AL rods so if they stretch oh well. It wont be the first engine I've broke.

As for losing protection on the carbon fiber doors I do plan on putting a roll cage in the car. The body shop that is doing the work said they can do a custom roll cage but when it got time to do it the body shop wanted to charge me 1500 for a bolt on kit. So I told them no and will find another place to do it.

As for the engine right now I'm following magnus tech page on doing the 1g in a 2 g build. And will be buying what I need soon along with brain crowed 280 camshafts and cams.
As for what Turbo... still up in the air. And what fuel currently doing research on e85-93 octane using dsmlink set up with 1000cc fuel injectors.
This is not my DD so I'm in no hurry to finish build but I will drive this on the street. And as for burning tires from point A to B I can do that on a stock engine and have been sited by cops for exhibition of speed. So plans on high HP on street car not to worried last i read turbos don't start to spool untill 3500 rpm.

Will see it only cost money:)

Sorry for bad spelling/gramer I did this on my Droid because work has blocked this site.
