No I see a lot of people still modding them, but seems a lot of people are ditching DSM's all together for Evo's.

1G's are definitely not that common these days as they're now 16-20 years old. But, based on the number of performance parts still being offered by the vendors, I think 1G's are still alive, just in reduced numbers.

I'm the original owner of my 1990 Eclipse GSX and don't plan on retiring it anytime soon. It's my daily driver with 169,000 miles on the original, stock bottom end. It needs some paint and I have a little bit of smoke at idle, but I think replacing the valve seals will cure that. I love this car and plan on keeping it going as long as I can.

Ya, It's almost 21 years old with 180k miles on it (built in June of 1989). But, it does have a JDM motor with a B16G and runs super sweet.

I still scare myself at times on how much power these things can have ...

Definitely NOT dead, there is a bunch of nt DSMs around in my town. but my 1g gets a good amount of attention and respect. Some people don't recognize what a DSM is. Sooo worth keeping, i tend to see a lot more mod'd 2g's though.

Mine was built in September of 1989. So ya, 21 years old this year and still going strong. I can't believe I've kept this car for that long!

These cars can produce a ton of power using the stock motor and are very fun to drive. Back in the day, I never thought it could be possible to get 350+ WHP out of this motor on pump gas (91 here in CA). But today, I'm at 373 AWHP using an evo3 16G on 91 octane (and meth) which makes 1st gear scary fast and completely useless, as it goes by in just a split second. NLTS makes it that much more fun (and a beast) to drive!

Long live the 1G!:hellyeah:

whenever i roll up to meets i always get more attention then the 2g's because everyone has those
more people have 2g's and go all out on looks with their 420a's (not saying their not fast just most aren't)

You see more 2g's then you do 1g's because more people care about looks

Everyone knows 2G's are damn sexy. Honestly I'm not sure if I've ever seen a 1G in or around my area. They definitely aren't dead though. Look at this forum. :hellyeah:

Check the April 2010 issue of Grassrootsmotorsports. 1g competing in the $2009 challenge and not doing too bad considering the competition.
