I recently just cursed swore and swore again and again while swapping a 90 tranny in my 92 Talon. The car runs mostly okay. I have just been researching on what to swap. My throw is way shorter than it used to be. Which wouldn't bug me. But when I took it for a test drive it very rarely stayed in first gear after I put it in. It if my hand wasn't on the gearshift just jump back at me into neutral. If my hand was there obviously it would grind. I really want to get this fixed. I have had nothing but repairng my car for the past two days. Opposed to the modifying that I absolutely love doing. Any suggestions or tips. In case anyone needs to know the tranny came from a 90 plymouth laser which had a turbo and thats about all I know. I am just really curious as how to fix. Fourths throw seems to be a little short as well but it doesn't or hasn't grinded for me very much. Please give me you suggestions. I would really appreaciate it.

along with that 90 trans you will need to 90 cables and shifter assembly, it may be just a 1 year difference but the parts are not the same.

there are also other problems that could be a problem like a 90 6 bolt trans mated to a 7 bolt engine.

you will see the difference here - Shifter Differences, 90 and 91-94

some people say all you need to change is the bracket but as to what bracket  also try here - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/93739-90-shift-linkage-vs-91-94-shift-linkage-2.html

I have replaced the the selector shifter. Anything else I am supposed to replace. Sometimes it struggles staying in first. Do you have any suggestion for me in what else to fix/replace?
