Born n raised in Daygo. Looks like my time has come to an end LOL, or atleast a really long time out. Just found out my wife will be stationed in japan. We leave beginning of june. Major bummer, I was starting to enjoy the dsm comunnity here. Any meets coming up? I'm trying to soak it all up before I'm airborn.
Oooh you will enjoy Japan. I was there from '93-'00 and had an amazing time growing up alongside their culture. BTW, there was a sponsored meet tonight at IKEA LOL; I decided not to go since I had a long day.

Corey - You can definitely tune for more TIMA like you said. The oxygenated fuel really unlocks power assuming you have enough fuel to support it. I street-tuned for min 20* and max 32* starting at ~13.0:1 peak boost and coming down to ~12.0:1 throughout the pull w/ zero detonation. On my pump tune, I had min 18* and max 29* w/ less boost prior to meth. Obviously, engine load/IDC's will affect the ECU's desire to advance. It is a "fun game" discovering the right balance/trade-off between boost and timing LOL.

I know how much deployment sucks man, been there done that twice and I'm glad to be on shore duty. :rocks:

I'll tell you what, when I get a minute (which I have now that I'm on shore duty) I'll post up a few pictures I have using Imageshack so you can see them.

Have your wife take the DSM to a Mitsu dealer on the island and have them do a BLT. Usually I'd say :nono: to take it in but your deployed and the dealership is the only place you can trust to do a good BLT on your car.

:dsm:

I appreciate the offer man..being removed from society sucks. This is my second deployment as well, but the last one was only a 3 monther.

Thanks for the advice on the BLT. Usually I too am against the dealership, but I need to get this fixed so she can drive my Eclipse around instead of my 240. Any ideas what the stealership may charge for the service? Thanks again man :rocks:

I think the one here in SD charges $80 to do a full BLT, then however much it costs to fix it. If its your wife going in man I'm sorry, but those mechanics like to get the girls to drop A LOT of cash because most don't understand cars. Personally if I were deployed in this situation I'd send your wife an email to print off and take into the dealership with your car. That way they don't ask her questions and you get dont EXACTLY what needs to be done... unless your wife knows cars?

I wouldn't even tell them BLT, because it might not be a boost leak and you just wasted $80. I'd tell them exactly what you said in your other thread about the fuel inj. going bad and now it won't go into boost. They'll probably test drive it around the block and end up doing a BLT anyway but atleast you know she'll drive out of there with a working car.

:dsm:

Well guys, the GST is dead. According to mitsu she spun a bearing and has crankwalked into history. Still deciding to sell for parts and buy a new one or repair but really hard to find a cheap block here.
I'll give you $100 for the Greddy exhaust? :p

Sorry to hear that, guess its good you picked up the Jetta. After Alex totals his GSX I got dibs on your Spyder shell Morgan, that way I can use Alex's totaled GSX to make your Spyder AWD.

Oh wait, nevermind... :tease: Alex's GSX would actually have to start running for it to become driveable and total it.

Lol. I am thinking about just doing the engine rebuild. Get all the internals the way I want and go from there. Also I can learn all this stuff along the way. I think theres enough room to do it on our patio hehe. Just need to get a cherry picker and jack etc.

Option 2 has just arisen: Take the turbo parts from my eclipse and turbo my Jetta. HMMMMMMMMMMM.

My wife is learning, and knows a good bit about cars already, surprisingly. When the Eclipse crapped out, she went and bought a CEL scanner, read the code, I ordered the new RC 750, and she installed it :sneaky: And thats why I love her. haha. But, I do agree that most mechanics are sneaky, and will probably try to tell her a load of crap. I'll take the advice and print out an explanation of the problem, for her to take with her to the stealership. Another problem she came across is the alternator bolt is ceased, and the belt had jumper, so now she cant drive the car until she breaks that bolt loose. Im gonna see if one of my buddies can go to the house and do it for her, because the Eclipse is blocking where I need to my LS1 when it gets to my house next week. It's just a big mess that I could straighten out in a day if I were home. I hate feeling helpless. LOL. Once we make a little progress and can actually get the car to the dealership, Ill let you guys know what happens. Thanks again for all the help, it's always appreciated! :hellyeah:

I was at Oak Park Elementary this afternoon for some teaching stuff, and there was a silver GST Spyder blacktop driving around w/ black/primered front, WS2/SP2 muffler, aftermarket polished wheels, and factory SMIC. It eventually parked alongside the school. Was this anybody here by chance?

Maybe .... LOL. I am picking up the car from mitsu on thursday and am gonna store it until I can find an engine. All I really need is the block... turbo is ok, the boost leak was a result of the worn crank journals and spun bearing.

let me know if you want to part out, I need a silver drivers side fender.

Wow, I've gone for a little bit and everyone starts circle jerking each other....LOL!! Just kiddin everyone!!

Hey Morgan, sorry to hear about your car dude. Tis sad to hear of an eclipse go that way. But like you said man, if you rebuild it you'll learn a sh** load.

Hey Corey, Alex and anyone else who can give me some advice, so im at a crossroad. I now have the finances to do what I want with my car. So I was thinking, I want my car to make between 350 to 400whp. I'm starting off with the exhaust first, so my question is:

Exhaust manifold, which manifold do you all recommend that will fit with the 16g but will also fit bigger turbos without having to buy a new manifold?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

The FP manifold is flanged for a Mitsu hotside, you can even run it with your t25 if you want until you get a bigger turbo. You can run Holsets (like Sam at RRE), 16g/20g, FP Green, and most 50 trim turbos with that exhaust manifold.

I'm running the DSM on Friday at RaceLegal if any of you are looking for something to do? I know if I was bored and had $8 in my pocket I'd pay it to watch someone else's car blow itself up. The odds of me doing it are good so bring a video camera...

Cool thanks man, ill look into the mani today and buy it. i dont have the t25 tho but its cool.

Thanks Alex for the advice too.

This Friday is racelegal?

if you take the stock 2g manifold and just port it you will be fine.there is no need to get the fp manifold for 350-400. how do I know because I have done it on an evo gt turbo thats an ebay turbo for those that dont know everything was from ebay, intercooler kit, exhaust and all plus i tuned it with a safc so its really easy to do. ran a 12.3 @ 111 with that car.http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/116/l_f51cbeb54b3b4120a7a35e01b1d5ac52.jpg time slip http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/114/l_83082a682c6749b8b86771efc57088e1.jpg car

Don't listen to this guy Joe. Kris is also a redneck from North Carolina that runs racoon piss instead of gas in his DSM's. :shhh:

I personally don't run an FP ex. manifold (btw they are $275) I just run my ported 2g ex. mani. But if your looking to upgrade your ex. mani. then the forced performance one is the route I would take.

Kris you racing that 1g that runs on hopes and dreams on Friday at Qualcomm? Hows that welded center diff treating you on the streets of Mira Mesa? I'm going to RRE April 9th if you want to ride along, I'll probably be there into the a.m. on Saturday.

Is that what my exhaust smells like corey i wouldnt know never smelled it.

Im still getting that damn vibration in the driveline. if i fix the vibs then ill go smoke your ass for a night i aint scared i just got to find some local racoons anyone have any suggestions oh and we will run for pinks whos scared now mister? I need another 2g for my garage anyways

The only reason why I know what your exhaust smells like Kris is because I was sitting the the stands at Cali Speedway watching you show everyone how NOT to launch their AWD if they want to cut a good 60ft.

You should put the car up on jacks (all 4 wheels) and then drive it, just throw Gracie under the car so she can show you where the vibration's coming from. :thumb: The wifey would like that...

You don't learn until you break parts, burn yourself a few times, and cut yourself.

What turbo do you have on there and have you ever taken it off before?
