Ok, so my girlfriend tells me that as shes driving down one of our local streets she spots a 1G OREO Talon behind the fence of some guys yard. Thinking of ME she stops at their place and asks if theres anyway they might be interesting in selling her. Well, turns out the car is a TSI (AWD is unknown right now), 1GB Talon in beautiful shape but currently not running. The people that own it said they don't know much about the car, but they are the first to own it!

Apparently after 18 years of lovely ownership the guy doesn't want to let her go but the wife and kids are trying to convince him to get rid of it. They said he was considering DONATING it for tax purposes but hasn't. DONATING PEOPLE.

I am so excited, I can't sit still. I went by and saw the car outside and I feel like I'm cheating on my GST but boy is that oreo sexy.

If you guys have any ideas maybe on how I should go about convincing these nice people let me know!

I'm willing to pay some cash but, I am only a 19 year old college kid so its not that flowing for me.

The miles, drivetrain and overall interior/enginebay condition is unknown but they said they drove her until she died so that could be a THOUSAND different things!

LOL, my girlfriend is better :p

Ha if they are the donating kind just convince them that the money you can give them for it will be more than what it would sell for as a donation. And that way they can just give to cash as a donation if they would like. Just an idea. Or even better yet convince them that giving it to you would be a donation as you are a college student and dont have much money ha.

19 yr old college kid with SOME cash + dsm .. wont work.

thats your excuse right there. have your g-friend go up to the old couple and use the key words "donate broke ass struggling 19 year old college kid that needs a little 4 cyl car thats got good gas mileage".
have your girlfriend wear something thats sunday school cute with a thin red ribbon in her hair. tell her to talk to the guys wife, because she will think your girlfriend is so adorable and want to help. they will probly tell u that he doesnt want it because the car has problems and needs a mechanic. then your girlfriend pops off and says "what a kowinkydynk, my broke ass 19 year old b-friend is actually going to school to fix cars and i think this one would be perfect for him to practice and learn on! Pluss i really want to surprise him!"

hows that sound brother?

I beg to differ. I have a 92 Galant vr4, 99 GST w/ 36k miles, and an 03 lancer all paid for by myself on my measley $8.00 an hour. I am 19 and in college. WTF

totally, if you want to get it, offer them a price. its NOT running, and donating it will only net them lets say, 83 dollars tops on their tax return...so a few hundred is a lot better for them, and donating it to you is way better, but for a few hundred its win/win for both of you

Well if you girl is as cool as you say she is then I'm guessing she can get you that car for free:sneaky:, just sayin.

haha, I just revived a car. It was not pleasant. Alot needed to be replaced. I had to replace this list
1. Battery
2. Ignition (some jack ass drilled it out)
3. Starter
4. Brake Calipers.
5. Alternator
6. Rad hoses
7. Cars Fluid
8. Master and Slave Clutch cylinders
keep in mind that mine was in a field not running for two years. I was not a happy camper. But check it out man. If they were willing to donate it. You should be able to get a good deal on it. I wish you the best. Those are suggestions.

My girlfriend (now to be wife) is better! She bought me my SRT4...:) But I uh, sold it and bought a DSM.

Move here to Oregon where minimum wage is 8.40 and almost no one is willing to pay you under 9 bucks an hour. Most gas stations hire gas attendants since here in Oregon pumping your own gas is illegal over 10 dollars an hour the more experience you have the more likely you are to make over 12.

Packing my shit and moving to oregon NAOW..

Wait pumping your own gas is illegal? What the ####ing shit? Nevermind

my girl aka my wife bought my 2g and she helped me rebuild it and put it in. she got one of my freeze plugs out the other day. also she helped me install my clutch and flywheel. i think she loves my dsm more than i do some times. she has been there through the thick and thin of the life of my dsm and she has never been for a ride in my dsm. if that not dsm love then i dont know what dsm love is.:hellyeah:

Tax laws for donating cars now say that the only deduction that you can take is what the car actually sold for. Used to be that you could take blue book but not anymore. If you donate a car to salvation army and they sell it to a junk yard for $100 the person who donated it can only take a $100 deduction - and you MUST have the paper trail.

I am sure if the owner understood this, he would sell it to you for a good price. Go to the IRS web site and get info on donation laws, and blue book for a non-running car and go make a deal!

Man I'm Jealous. Where are you guys finding these females from. The ones around here are scared once you do more then 5 miles over the speed limit. LOSERS. That's why I don't have a girlfriend, BATCHES. Hahaaha
