Ok I have been having a hard time deciding what to do with the two Talons I just bought.

I have a Blue 1996 TSi AWD Automatic with what I was told has a spun rod bearing, the car has a 14b turbo a hard intake pipe and what looks like an ebay J-pipe, the drivers seat has a cover on it cause its in bad condition.

Then I have a 1995 TSi AWD Automatic with a bad transmission and bad brakes. This car however has a lot more frame rust than I had noticed when I bought the car. The side skirts arent even fully mounted do to rust, and the typical strut tower rust.

So Option #1 is to take the engine and the seats from the 95 into the blue 96 and have that as my nice running car and part out the red 95.

or option #2 put the transmission from the blue 96 into the red car, still swap the seats, sell the red car as a complete running car for cheap cause of all the rust and what not, then buy a pull out engine/trans for the 96, sell the spare parts from that and have the 96 in good running condition. That is a lot more work and risk though.

Either way I keep the 96 and it will run good and look good. I just cant decide what is the best decision for the 95 financially..

I would need to get at least $1000 from selling the parts from the 95 to make it worth parting out. So I would have basically everything aside from the block available to sell. I'm not sure what parts go for for these cars.

Or I just just take the block swap seats and try to sell the 95 as a roller.

Option #3 - trailer the '96 TSI down to OKC and park it in my driveway, so you can concentrate on the '95. :D

But seriously...if the rust is that bad on the '95, you're probably better off parting it out.

Ha yeah the 96 is gonna be concentrated on first sorry!

I am not sure what parts usually sell for on these cars, I have parted out a few stealths and 3000gt's but I don't know if the market is the same. Know of any good places to compare prices? I don't want to be too low that I lose money but I don't want to rip anyone off either.

Yeah I may just throw it up on craigslist and see if I can post a part out thread in the classifieds here and maybe see if I can get one in the Indianapolis section too. I just want to be sure I get my money back on the car and I'm not stuck with half a car taking up room in my garage for weeks.

keep it all for future dsm's you cant ever have to many spare parts. unless your like me ive only got one room in my storage shed left. the rafters are full but ive got 2 cars waiting to be put back together

Looks to me like that garage can handle it. I'm jealous. :)
thanks, I have had 7 cars in there at one time! I only have 5 in there right now. Plus there is room for about 10 out back next to the building. We are gonna get a lift here in a few weeks out there, after we get rid of grandpa's old cars that are rotting in the back.

the garage is sweet. but im sure you can probably sell most of it on here.
Thanks, I hope so I don't want to take forever to part it out. Its mostly stock parts.

Yeah I have a wealth of stealth and 3000gt parts taking up space in the back, I could probably go buy a junk 3000gt shell and put together a decent running Twin Turbo with all the crap I have back there.

Sounds like my garage. My mom was into mustangs and there is 2 mustangs out back under covers, and enough parts to buy a rolling body and build a car out of it.

yeah I have a buddy that deals in fox body mustangs.

sell them both and get a manual. why even have a fast automatic car?

for that reason exactly, automatics are faster in general because it removes the driver error factor. Plus I have my RX-7 that is a manual, and my Passat 1.8t is a manual also.

If i get enough from the part out I may try to pick up the parts to do the manual swap.

part out has began!!

This may sound like a stupid question. But I am a female so I am learning about the car. Would any of the parts on the car you are parting out work for my 95 Automatic GSX?

they should almost all work for your car, aside from some of the body panels like the rear bumper would require the tail lights and other parts like that, but the drive parts like head turbo and all that are the same.
