As the title says i've been outside installing the new transmission i just bought but it wont go into 1st or 2nd gear when i put it in nutral and jiggle it side to side it will go into the 3-4 and 5-reverse areas but no the 1-2 area. I cant even jam it or nothing it just won't go in there. IDK what to do i saw the thread on shifter adjustment but it seems thats only for the 1gs. Also there is no fluid in the transmission right now but i don't see why that would make it not go into 1+2 if it goes into all the other gears fine someone ### help me out here.

Well lets start by putting fluid in it, and while you're down tthere the clutch needs to be bled. both things are simple.
If you just installed the tranny I'm sure you know where the slave is, just use a deep 10mm on the bleed valve, loosen it, depress clutch, tighten it back up, and do it a few times til there is no air coming out.

The adjustments for the shifter are under the shift boot. If you can't put it into 1st or 2nd after the adjustment you might have a broken 1-2 shift fork. I had this issue before, it feels like the path to 1st gear is there but it won't click in and if you hold it in position it will grind or be nuetralized.

the thing is im buying expensive fluid so i dont want to dump it in there if the tranny is screwed i just figured that if it goes into all the other gears it dosn't even go into the nutral area to line up 1+2 and as for the clutch i have full pressure in there so idk if i have to bleed it

Then go buy some motor oil to put in there. If you are planning on driving then use gl4. Then if it checks out put in the primo fluid. It wouldn't be a bad idea to "rinse" it out anyway.

yeah at this point im goin to buy cheap fluid to try out and as for the shift link mounting its exactly the same as my other trans i never took the links out of the mount i just unmounted the whole mount off my old trans and put it on this one

another thing is if i manualy move the shift arms on the transmission then it will go into every gear fine. it looks like there is that plastic white peice that is broken... does anyone know what that thing is called i'm going to the dealer today to get some stuff

i fixed the problem by poppn out the white bushing and fliping it over and putting it back in id still like to know the part number to get a new one because there is a peice that broke off
