OK, il start with saying i HONESTLY went through dsmtalk and tuners and cant find a solution. I have a 99 gst its been sitting for awhile spring is coming so its time to get her moving. And of course i run into a problem haha. I performed alot of test, it has great compression all four are 200, boost leak free 20psi for minutes. Has spark (new plugs and magnacores 8.5 comps, tested) has fuel ( 550cc wally pump, afc, tested) it has a good tune and pressure. It 'sometimes' will start up and run for about 5 or so seconds and then just dies no matter if i hold the throttle, tap it, nothing. and then it just cranks. This just keeps repeating. :hmm: Please any help will be GREATLY appreciated im in a total stand still with this car. I may have left a few things out but what im trying to say is it has everything it needs to start and run but wont.

after it dies check if you have spark in all 4 cylinders..i had this problem it would start like for 10 seconds and i wouldn't be able to start it until the next day...my problem was the cam sensor i would get spark in all 4 when it started then when it would just crank i wouldnt have spark in 2 and 3...

goodluck

Yeah, its gs-t(turbo) for the smart guys out there LOL. Yeah i have spark through out the whole deal. I'm leaning towards a sensor more like o2 or coolant temp.

Not trying to steal this thread or anything but when saying a coolant temp sensor could cause "bad idle"..would that be refering to not idling or a high idle and or both?

yup thats prabably your problem :)

read this

and tunedsm99 your problem can be the same
its cheap and easy to change just do it and you will know :hellyeah:

and do a search (coolant temp sensor) search titles only
and READ READ READ than you will know if it is your problem

What are your mods and what are using for tune? Before I open up, I need to make sure before I answer, post.

Tuned with openport 2.0 (proffesionally tuned) 14b turbo i think i mentioned just about everything above. I really dont know if its a coolant temp because it does want to start at times and then it doesnt want to start after i try it, like if i keep donig it the problem just consist. It isnt the same outcome everytime i try it.

my gsx would idle at like 6 hundred and i could not figure out what was wrong but while checking all my wiring i seen my temp sensor plug and the casing was cracked so i pulled it off and sure enough the wire was not connected.

does any one know what would cause a rev limit at about 35hundred rpm but iin a nuetral rev if i barely hold the gas it will go to 7 easy.. is it a fuel problem or wiring or what?

Your car does it underload, is that what your trying to say? It is most likely mechanical.

Anyways, so i still havent found a fix, and i went through the whole engine bay and diagnosing it today. Any other possible thoughts on this problem?

I found out my knock sensor (the white wire) is ripped. Could this lead to my problem?

Soo.. car starts up after a few cranks, will run perfectly smooth at 2000 rpms then eventually after about a minute completely shutdown and not restart. Giving the car any type of throttle will not change anything. After cranking for a while it will start back up and repeat the process. Sort of puzzle.. also the exhaust manifold has a blueish tinge to it and is extremely hot after the short idle time...

i found what it looks to be a kink in the metal fuel line right before the fuel filter (fwd) in the bay area under the batter (for you awd guys). what do u guys think about that? i beleive this isnt the problem only because it was there when the car was running normal.

Update, i replaced the kinked fuel line, and things have changed, my car is about 70% running, it just stalls and like randomly dies at times but has response with throttle now. Very Wierd. Any idea on what this is?

have you checked your fiav valve and such? could possibly be the problem if its cutting off your idle

I have evo scan, the car has been logged everything is in running order as far as sensors, ive narrowed it down to four things. Bad plugs, gas, maf, o2. (the maf when i unplug it, it turns the car right off no matter what i do) Plugs are looking drenched in gas so theyre due for replacement, and o2 is up in the air, the gas is from like end of summer so these four things are what i have left. I really think my maf is at fault the most here because is controls the car's trims. The car runs like a its possesed.
