So i just sold my 91 Tsi AWD and i'm really hating life. I have plans on a little part time business venture so i had the bright idea of selling the money pit Talon. But i tell you what it was hard letting her go. It wasn't so much the money dumped in the car but more or less the long late nights wrenching on her and my girlfreind bitching ,my daughter asking for me to come inside and long hours researching on this site, not including driving for miles for those great craiglist deals. I think next time i'll buy a built Talon:thumb:

Anyone else cryed when they sold their car?

life comes with hard situations and very needed decisions. this is my 3rd dsm and hopefully my last.. not in a bad way i just mean i hope to never get rid of this one.. i think sometimes i just want to get rid of it but i hold on and think someday it will be built and someday all my money into this car will pay off..

but yah i hear yah on the kid and girlfriend thing they dont understand the time u have to put into these machines. il b at the garage foor like an hour and my girl will call sayin wen are u gonna b home and ## always there and so on..

and im like jesus aparently uv never done a motor swap before LOL

I'll definitly be getting another one . Someday.

I had that big time with my first car, a 71 VW bug. It was a ground up restore with EVERYTHING being taken down to the bare metal chassis and building it up properly from there into a baja. I had my life savings up to that point in my life (about 5k) invested in that car and sold it for a quarter of what I put into it. I still regret it to this day.

I'm still pissed that I sold my car.

I'll let you in on a little secret.. Daughter > Car.

I sold my dsm and i actually don't regret it at all. I do miss it but meh, i've been curious to try a cheaper, easier to work/fix on, and more reliable car and a new platform to have.
Maybe someday i will get me another dsm, hopefully a gsx and use it as a weekend car, only time will tell...

I have mine listed for sale. My motor has a spun rod bearing and needs to be rebuilt... again. So I was thinking sell it and save myself the time/money/trouble/risk of rebuilding it again. I would get another dsm of course though. But this time around I would only settle for a clean 2gb (what I've always wanted). The more I have thought about it though, it might be hard to part with it. All those long nights in the garage slaving away on it. I might miss that.

Yup, remorse here. Back when i sol dmy GSX because i wanted to pay off a 4k debt i had. No wi have a mortgage, student loans etc. But i found another one:D

i bought mine and hope i NEVER have to sell, it for any reason and go through what you guys have experienced. Too much time and money i just cant see it being in someone driveway other than mine.

I was happy to see my sisters 98 Eclipse GS drive out of the driveway for the last time.
For some reason, she didn't trust me to work on it. She always had my dad do the work.
It ran like crap. That car was beat with only 148k miles. I think she got $1700 on it for a trade-in.

I still can't believe I sold my first Talon which was a 2gb. I'm never going to find another one again as clean as mine was......ever. I really should have never let it go, because it was beautiful.

But on the other hand, I couldn't be happier to see my GST go. I hated that car more than it hated me.

My current Talon, I really don't care about it much right now. I really wished that it ran, so that might have something to do with it.

My point, if you really like your car, then you should keep it. I am still attached to that Talon. But if you don't like it, get rid of it.

Im in the same boat..mine did need work, mainly a tranny rebuild, some paint touchups, sunroof leaked hardcore....but i still get emo over it. That car was my step into the gearhead world, i had mnay many hours of sleepless nights working under it...Im in the middle of packing to move and just found the cars registration car and got goose bumps..

I sold mine so i could get a 95 tsi awd and a 92 na talon...but still teared up watching it drive away. Then i ended up selling those two to get out of a crappy relationship and get back home from MN....

(btw, im moving to PA tomorrow so i can get back in the DSM game..woo!!)

Well my daughter also loved the car and she use to love it when i gave it some hard pulls with her in the car. But i was seriously burnt out on wrenching and chasing leaks and it definitly was in need of a tranny rebuild in the near future . I'm 31 with bills,1 card,Mortgage and kids, besides like i said i have a little part time business venture in mind. OK OK i'm just trying to convince myself:cry: Oh well its all good.

I miss my old Scout (would buy it back NOW if I could find it), my wife's 1g Auto, and my Laser.

The rest of my cars can rot in hell.

Thats why I'm keeping mine. Way to much money, way to much time working on it, way to many great memories!

I miss my gs-t all the time. I loved that car and all it's quriks.

Its in good hands. Should see fresh paint in a few weeks.:thumb:

I still miss the 94 Accord I sold last year, but that car had been in my life for 15 years. You see a gold 90's Accord about every 30 seconds if your awake and anywhere near civilization.

I definately miss my '93 Eclipse. I sold it for $100 to the junkyard. It was totalled. And stripped. Go ahead and sell it, but get a FWD turbo to replace it. Keep it stock-ish, and it will be just as reliable as any other 20-year-old/under $1500 car. The crappier the car is to begin with, the less you'll care about it, the less time and money you'll spend on it. Just t-belts and brakes and such.

Plus, and you can trust me on this, you'll totally forget that you aren't driving the old car. I took the money that I got from the Honda, the insurance check from the Eclipse (Hooray for full coverage!), and bought 2 1G Eclipses. I get so confused sometimes about what I'm driving; the "identity" of my car. No one else seems to notice from inside the car, either. Unless I hit boost. People notice that. And sometimes I leave my sunglasses in the console of my old car at the junkyard.
