Hey im 17, been looking at dsm's since i was 14 years old, i just bought my first dsm two weeks ago it has a few problems so i was hoping you would help me out. I still don't know to much about these car so here it goes. I bought a 2g spyder 2 weeks ago, first problem the guy told me the car can only run 8 lbs of boost because of the stock BOV(the car has e3 16g turbo) and the boost gauge is at 8 psi, there is no other mods except for cold air intake, MBC, and an adjustable FPR. first and second pull pretty good but in third when i boot it, it kind of dogs out, i dont know if this is because its not getting enough fuel for the bigger turbo(this is what my buddie said when i took him for a ride, he owns a 95 gst) the person i bought it from said there was a vac hose leak. im not sure whats up so if you guys could give me any advice that would be greatly appreciated, i know i sound like the biggest newb but please help. also i read the policy about looking for a similar post instead of creating your own but this is alot easier. thank you

I'd do a boost leak check on it. It sounds like you have a leak somewhere. If you have a leak the turbo will be working harder to keep the boost you want, and when doing that it will pull in alot more air then it should. When that happens the ecu will see this and spaz out causing fuel cut. Which to me sounds like your problem. Any other ideas guys?:hmm:

Thanks guys, after i get my master and slave cyllinder in i will check for boost leak.

If it checks out good for leaks, this sounds dumb but whats the boost controller set at.

well its a manual boost controller and its set at 8 psi right now if that answers your question?

that would be why it only goes to 8 PSI. There still might be a leak though.

Unless there is something wrong with the stock bov, it'll handle more then 8lbs. It is a leaky piece of crap, don't get me wrong, but it should be able to take 12lbs without leaking too much. In the long run I would upgrade your injectors and fuel pump and get something like ECMLink to tune it with because that Evo III 16g is nowhere near it's ideal boost level. Right now your car probably lags quite a bit and even at stock boost level it may actually be slower then it would be with a stock t-25.

where was your boost leak, just to give me a heads up where to look goona get it checked out this weekend, thanks for all the advice guys!

I had a few, one at the throttle shaft seals, one on the cold side smic( was missing the little rubber insert where the pipe goes on the smic)and another one was my fuel injector seals.

The idle screw on the throttle body may be leaking also.
