doesitonall4rs thanks for the engine bay pic. I do have the large k@N so it looks like I'm either cutting more pipe or just stuffing it in there somehow becuse I'm not looking foward to buying another filter. and as far as your galant.... I din't know that was YOUR galant... I had that picture of your car in the parking garage on my laptop as part of a screen saver I made and it may have been on my desktop for a while too... friggin car is gorgeous.

Yea I think the big K&N might be really tuff to stuff in there, without it hitting your headlight motor and your headlights not going up or down.
Thanks for the compliments on the galant, the car is pretty clean. It's still far from where I want it to be, but well see how many mods I decide to it. I'll ###### start modding it in the summer time once I am finished with my 3000GT VR-4.

Anyone have a good link for turbotrader or contact info? I need it for the FAQ.

Thanks.

I'm really not satisfied with my 7 blade HX35. Its a good turbo and makes good power, but I'm really kinda bored with it after 500 miles.

I'm either going to go to a HX40/HX35 hybrid or pick up a HX40 for cheap and a Darkperformance manifold. I want full boost (30 psi) by 4000-4200 rpm and the ability to flow 60-65 lbs/min. Right now I'm only at 54 lbs/min at 30 psi and I hit full boost at 4600 rpm with a 2.0, stock 6 bolt intake mani, FP2 cams, twin scroll 12 cm housing and an open manifold. I do not want a big laggy turbo. I like tons of torque and a huge power band. I would like to stick to a T3 setup with a twin scroll manifold but I'm not spending that kinda money on one.

Any opinions on what I should do? Right now when if I break boost in second the car is ####ing retarded and its everything it can do to get traction on street tires. Its a solid 125 mph car, and thats cool, but I want a 130 mph car and don't want to spend another 1500 to get there.

When you get a chance, please post in the Results thread. I'd suggest as a format, using say JWoodley's post as a template. (as simple as quote his post and enter your info in the place of his then remove the quote feature symbols and his pics) The more info you can provide the better. Any detail on boost levels vs rpm, logs, etc is greatly appreciated.

has anyone or is it possible to put hx40 internals into a hx35 my local turbo shop told me they would throw together a rebuilt hx35 for under $400 but i was thinking of making something different i will be keeping the T3 hotside and making a v-band o2 housing to match.

would putting the hx40 compressor wheel in a hx35 be worth it? or what other options are there

Yeap my turbo came of a Dodge truck that was used for tractor pulling contest. The turbo was called Dodgezilla Turbo.. You can google that and see what you come up with. The guy I bought this from said he bought it here. DodgeZilla Turbo City Diesel - Diesel Performance

Those guys are pretty knowledgeable. They about fell out of their chairs when I walked in there one day talking about an HX40 then pointed out in the parking lot to tell them what it was going on. Good bunch of guys.

Well guys I've been following these Holset threads for a while now and finally decided to pick up an HX40. I put a bid on one on ebay and won it for $250 shipped. I didn't think it was too bad of a deal. It looked rough but I know what these turbos are capable of and how much abuse they can take. This is how the turbo arrived at my doorstep.

Obviously I can't accept the shape that its in and just slap it on my car so I threw the compressor cover and turbine housing in the bead blaster. I also sent the 17cm^2 T4 housing to my buddy to have it ceramic coated and the internal wastegate welded shut. Here are the parts after I bead blasted them.

I'm still waiting on the turbine housing to get finished up at my buddy's shop so I figured I'd polish the compressor cover while I'm waiting. I started at 9am and just got it finished at 4pm. What a job this was but I think it was well worth it.

I didn't get a picture of the compressor after it was completely finished but you can get an idea of what it turned out like. I'll be sending the CHRA out for rebuild and balancing soon but once I get everything back and together I'll post a picture of the finished product.:thumb:

I just picked up the BEP T-3 HX35 exhaust housing for my turbo. The guy I got it from said he used a ebay flange for the other side of the v-band. He said his didn't fit right so my question here is where do I get the correct one for this BEP v-band housing?

Ya, jeez when you first got it it looked like something from an ancient ship wreck.
Even the bead blast looks pretty good.
I see you still have what looks like the original Holset ID tag on there. Ever notice, sometimes the rebuilt ones are missing that? I would find that kind of annoying.

Dumb question:

What's the diameter/thread pitch for the drain line bolts on a HX-35W? I'm thinking M10x1.25 but I didn't have any handy to check.

Thanks for the compliments. Yea I know what you man bud. I actually put a piece of masking tape over the tag just so it didn't get ruined in the bead blaster. It might not be the prettiest tag, but I can't stand the look of the compressor cover without the tag.

i have been looking ahead since i plan on getting a HX35 in the near future so i have been trying to come up with an oil drain fitting. since i have access to a maching shop i was thinking of making a bolt on flange that will accept a 3/4 pipe fitting so that it could either take a -12 or anything you want the thread into it. would thing be something anyone else would be interested in? i think i could make these at a reasonable price for both the oil pan and the turbo. let me know what you guy think. or is there a simple solution already

thanks
