Alright, so my clutch burnt out today. I was curious what kind of clutch should I get? I just bought a block that has
Built 2.0l 6-bolt: Ross 8:1 Pistons, Eagle Rods, ARP Head and Main Studs, BSE kit.
I am going to redo my head as well just not sure what I am going to do yet. I am going to upgrade to a small 16g turbo. I am wondering what I should get for me clutch to support up to 300-400 horse power. Suggestions on any flywheels. I do not want to get any f1 racing clutch. There are a disgrace to the name of clutches. That would be the one that just burnt out on me. I will never deal with them again.
Thanks in advance for all the suggestions
James
my car is a 92 Eagle Talon FWD TSI.

I would go with something like an ACT 2100lb pressure plate with a street disc. Or if you want to go with a little more holding power just go with the 2600lb pressure plate although you shouldn't need it with the small 16g.

you say 300-400 hsp, so go for the higher number

2100act with street disk will give you 322 torque
2600act with street disk will give you close to 400 -- i dont know the specifics on that one

act is a good brand and if you break it in right then youll be happy with it

if your into 6puck sprung clutches then the 2100 pressure plate will be just fine -- i dont know what kind of drivability your looking for

good luck

not sure about flywheels but ive heard the fridenza is a quality flywheel -- thats just from one of my buddies whose a nut with dsm s so thats his 2 cents

4 puck or 6 puck disc?
Okay what about ACT flywheels.
I need a clutch that can take some abuse. I dont mean to abuse it. But sometimes some things happens. I want something fast and smoot engagement. I usually go off the line. I dont like acelerating slow. Its really lame.

depends how streetable you want the car -- you could go with either the 6 or 4 puck clutch but i would recomend you get either with a sprung hub -- if you get them unsprung your passengers will get whip lash if you drive it right and if you let it slip then the clutch will last you 5 thousand miles before you shoot it between the eyes

if its a street car or DD i would go 6 puck sprung -- that will take abuse and an occasional track day

but to take more abuse go with the 2600 pressure plate

as for the ACT flywheel -- im sure its a quality product,, if its anythign like their clutch kits im sure youll be more then happy with it

So I guess this would be the Same for me then. I plan on upgrading to an E316g and want to make 300-350 whp so I should skip the 2100 and go straight for 2600.

I have an act flywheel and no balance shafts and I haven't noticed a rough idle at all

I have a balance belt. I want to use it as a daily driver and the odd day here and there at the track. Now that people are replying to this thread. Will you please let me know what kind of valve train should I get?

Not sure about the pressure plates but I would say that if it is going to be street driven requently you will hate your self if you go with something that is unsprung. I have had one car with a stage 3 unsprung clutch. I told myself never again. My left knee has hated me ever since that car.

if you have the balance belt then you can get away with the lightweight flywheel without vibration at idol, or very small amounts of vibration

for a DD and the odd day here and there at the track go with a 2600 pressure plate for sure,,, go with a sprung hub 6 puck -- its a little more dd friendly then the sprung 4 puck -- the 2600 and the 6 puck sprung hub will give you your 400hsp and 400 torque

good luck bro:hellyeah:

Thanks guys. So I am going to buy all of my kits now. Money is here now. What do you think of this auction on ebay 140330357828. I am going to go with the ACT 2600 with a 6 puck spung hub. I am pretty sure that I am going to get a fidenzia flywheel as well. Thanks for helping me out.

no matter what everyone else says, if you are only looking at the 300 to 400 hp range just keep your stock flywheel. a lighter flywheel causes rougher idling as well as more vibrations and since you got rid of your balance shafts there goes a smooth idle already so why make it worse when its not doing you any good? and for the clutch, just go wit hthe act 2600 with a street disk and make sure your street disk has damper springs

I still have my balance belts and stuff. I want the car to be a Dailiy Driver.
