i just had a guy talking to me about dsm's the other night at work. he used to have a 97 gsx until he wrecked it. anyway, he seems to know his shit, but i was really surprised when he told me that the ford probe's were part of the dsm family... he even bet me 20 bucks that we could check ANY probe and it would have a 4g63....

about 5 minutes later, a probe pulls in to the parking lot... dude popped his hood and to the amazement of the "dsm pro" it didn't have 4g63.

then he says "this doesn't have 4g63 because its only a 4 banger."

when i said 4g63 is a 4 cylinder, he got mad. then i popped my hood, and told him to count the injectors and plugs. he said there were 2 of each on the underside of the engine.

hahahaha, so i told him to give me my 20 bucks and he left all pissed.

I really do hope that the mustang thing was staged. But kind of hard to imagine considering the car did have a VTEC sticker on the rear window. And the part about the engine being lighter because of the signatures was hilarious.

I can't believe people. This thread never ceases to amaze me, and I am FAR from being an expert in cars.

I talked to a guy I was trying to buy a GST from and he was telling me it had a 1.6 liter engine. I was looking at the 2000 on the VC wondering what he meant, but then he pointed to the 16 in front of the valve letters. I explained what it was, and he was like "Wow! Dude like, I really know nothing about cars." I had to hand it to him and he was actually humble. A big change from s*** talkers.

Went to look at a GS the other day (after selling my tsi awd ) Just because I'm in need of an efficient DD.

So I'm looking on craigs and I find one for like 4k with only 60k miles and he's willing to go down 1k if I take my own rims... I think hey good deal.

Then I look a little closer in the pictures and I see a gauge pod with 3 gauges in the picture. I'm thinking hmm, must be a ricer. Then I see a turbo badge on the back and I wonder... is he some kind of mega ricer? or did he boost it. then I see a freaking intercooler up front and now I'm all kinds of confused. He also put GSX breaks on it and then sprayed "brembo" over it.

I went to look at it in person and had a great time when I found out it was a N/T

"So what's with the turbo badge?" - uhhh you know
"you know intercoolers are for turboed cars right? it's just a box you put there isn't it?" - Well yeah .. haha .. looked cool...
"So brembo huh?" ...welll errr.. no not really... they err...

and best of all? He had a turbo timer... all hooked up and working.

"so your non turbo gets so hot after you drive it you need a timer for the block to cool down or something? That's not a good sign, means you must beat it a lot..." - ohh err no no, its not for that, its because... you know..

On more then one occasion (recent one was a few days ago) I've had a Honda kid hit me up about a set of blue top 450cc injectors I'm selling.

"I dont really want a turbo for the power i could care less but it would make my car so much cooler to have a bov sound thats the only reason i want a bov". Me: well sounds like you may need a rebuild
Him: do you know if theres a door that I can unbolt on the transmission so I can pull out 2nd gear and change it
Me:............... uuuhhhh What.....
Him: theres gotta be a plate or door of some sort to get to the second gear with out taking the transmission out of the car.

(at this time nearly everyone shut up around us a good 10-12 people to listin to this....)

Him: oh it's at home I have to replace the motor
Me: why what happen (still thinking of the door on the transmission)
Him: the motor sucked in a giant washer and now it's making this horrible noise

Him: yeah, I was doing some things and I dropped a washer in the intake
Me: sell your car and buy a honda. (walks away)

Funniest I have heard so far, , If you know so much, you would know that if it was Turbo, they only came in Stickshift, just like the Evo's and Galant Vr4's.

I feel a little guilty about laughing at the nubs, but this thread is awesome.

At the shop I work at we built and installed a stock 7 bolt for this kid's GS-T convertible. My friend Mick did most of the work on this one and knew the customer personally as in they went to high school together. The customer comes down and asks questions and bitches about how long it's taking almost every day the car is at the shop. I have to add that it's all stock except for a front mount (of course). Well, Mick goes to a party and the customer happens to be there. He knows Mick from school and he definitely knows Mick is working on his car.

He tells Mick at the party that his new motor in his convertible is bored out to a 2.5L with a 16g! Ummm..........no you just got it back 3 days ago with a stock 2 liter and stock turbo.

Bought my first dsm, 92 GSX with a bad tranny, from this brainless cousin of mine.

He had vented the BOV and cut off the exhaust so it would be loud and he could sit in his garage and rev the crap out of it and hear it blow off.

So not what he said, its what he did. He wasn't that bright.

Removing exhaust restriction is proven to net sustancial gains. . .

Ah I see. I read your first post and was gonna say how stupid it is to remove your exhaust just to rev it up and it be loud. But then i saw your second post and it dawned on me that it was a joke. I am a little slow with the jokes from time to time.
