Does anyone know know another location for the tach wire on a non-turbo eclipse. I know that the tach wire is located by the Ecu and on the actual tach gauge but is there another location that I am missing.

You can also tap into the PTU under the hood it actually says it.......

This works i know for a fact just be careful when tapping into the wire coming from the Tac slot if you mess this up the whole car wont run

It is white on pin 73 of the power train control module (NT's ECU) (on A-107 connector - 3rd wire from end on outer row).
It is also inside the car on pin 3 (brown wire) of the automatic compressor ECM (B-26 connector under the blower).

I just want to make sure that I am taping in to the right wire is the white tach wire on the ecu when I open the hood the top plug or the bottom plug.

Some cars shut off the injectors during certain cases of deceleration. I'm not sure if DSM's do or not, it's just something to consider and maybe ask one who knows for sure. I'd be interested in hearing about it too.

I've been professionally installing remote starts and other automotive electronics for a little under 2 years now, that may not seem like much, but my boss/coworker/electronics mentor, has been professionally doing installs for a little over 16 years. He recommended to me to use the fuel injector wiring because it's generally easier to find, and in all his years installing he's never had a problem getting a tach signal there.

Since the car should not be accelerating or decelerating while parked and remote started, the signal should remain constant. If the tach signal to the DEI remote start (I can't speak for any other brand, because I have experience with primarily DEI) exceeds it's limits either too high, or too low, the remote start WILL shut down and provide a shutdown diagnostic through the LED and/or the parking lights.

Now, as a side: when I did my very first remote start on my 99 Eclipse RS I first tried to find the tach wire at the cluster. I found it, but I couldn't get it to learn. Since I didn't know about the injector plug at the time, I went to the ECU and got it there. It still works just fine today, though I do not own the car anymore, as it was purchased by a former coworker.

Of all the vehicles that I have worked on that required tach, I have gone to the injector plug unless it was easier to find at the ECU or within the cabin of the vehicle. I'm not saying that the injector is the only place to find tach. I'm merely saying that in my experience it has never been an issue.
